2 ABOUT THE FORUMS FORUM OBJECTIVES The objectives of the forums are to: > examine contemporary issues and explore continuous improvement opportunities to better manage psychological injury > understand the fundamentals that are preventing workers from returning to work early and overcoming obstacles to spending a life in work > understand the fundamentals that lead to successful return to work following injury. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? WHAT WILL YOU GET OUT OF THE FORUM? The Comcare Rehabilitation Case Manager Network Forums are designed to give you the opportunity to both listen to speakers working in fields related to the workers compensation industry and network with other case managers. The theme for the forums is Mental health in the workplace. Comcare s presentations will include an update on claim determinations and a review of practical strategies in managing mental health conditions in the workplace. Dean Stone from National Australia Bank (NAB) will present NAB s approach to supporting their staff through NAB s Mental Health at Work Program. The forum program is relevant to case managers with an interest in the continued development of workplace health, safety and rehabilitation.

She will outline the role of an employer in investigating a claim and provide information about the evidence required to assist Comcare in making timely and correct decisions. Dean will discuss how to overcome the issues with managers not providing duties, and practical tips on how to deal with this. 6 SPEAKERS SARAH HAWKE Director First Contact, Comcare Sarah joined Comcare in 2007 as a Principal Legal Adviser to support the occupational health and safety functions of Comcare. She took up the role of Director of First Contact in Recovery and Support Services late last year. Prior to joining the APS, she was employed as a Senior Associate in a major national law firm undertaking government, administrative and dispute resolution work. She commenced legal practice in the 1990s primarily doing insurance work for private and government workers compensation and motor accident schemes. LESLEY MORRISON General Manager, Recovery and Support Services, Comcare Lesley Morrison is the General Manager, Recovery and Support Services, Comcare. Recovery and Support is responsible for the primary determination of new workers compensation claims and the ongoing management of accepted claims from Australian and ACT Government employees. The group seeks to maintain and improve the operation of workers compensation and rehabilitation in the jurisdiction and is responsible for all common law asbestos claims. ROISIN O HAGAN Injury Management Advisor, Injury Management Advisory Service, Comcare Roisin O Hagan is an occupational therapist with many years of experience in the mental health sector. She is committed to promoting workplaces and practices that support mental health and wellbeing. She has extensive experience as both a rehabilitation provider and case manager in assisting people with a range of mental health conditions. She has also worked as a mental health trainer in organisations such as Beyond Blue. She joined Comcare in 2010 and has experience in the Comcare Work Health team and is now a highly valued member of the Injury Management Advisory Service. DEAN STONE Manager, Workers Compensation and Governance, National Australia Bank Dean Stone is the 2012 Comcare Work Health and Safety Award Winner for Claims Manager of the Year. Dean has 20 years experience in workers compensation and return to work, and has worked for insurers, employers, self-insurers and government departments. Prior to taking on this role, Lesley was General Manager, Corporate Services and took a key lead in the responsibility and development of Comcare s 2015 Strategic Plan. Prior to working at Comcare, Lesley has had an extensive career in a range of corporate and service delivery roles. Lesley has an MBA and a degree in Social Studies.
