Custodial Department Team/Specialized Cleaning Program
Why Do We Perform Team/Specialized Cleaning? 1. Better and more consistent cleaning quality throughout each school site. 2. Indoor air quality is improved because: Deep cleaning creates a cleaner environment. A back-pack vacuum filters the air four times. 3. Labor cost savings by cleaning more square footage by each custodian. 4. Full time equivalent: Elementary school-30,000 sq.ft. to 32,000 sq. ft./custodian. Average cleaning time = 14 minutes per classroom. Secondary school-37,000 sq. ft. to 40,000 sq. ft./custodian. Average cleaning time = 10 minutes per classroom. Why Do We Perform Team/Specialized Cleaning? (cont.) 5. The Custodians are specialized in their assigned tasks and are more effective. 6. The cost of cleaning equipment is less due to lower repair cost and less equipment needed.
