If the toilet is clogged: Evaluate the situation carefully before proceeding. If the toilet is overflowing, allow some time for the water levels to slowly come down. Place the plunge in the middle of the toilet bowl covering the drain area.
4 FO SOP-H05 Page: 4 of 5 Press the plunge down to create suction force. Press down and apply pressure to increase the suction force, completing repetition in sets of 2, for a total of 4 sets. Allow time for the toilet to drain. Flush the toilet to ensure it is 100% unclogged. Once the toilet is 100% unclogged and clean water is running through, proceed to clean and disinfect the toilet according to SOP. Clean and disinfect the plunger inside the toilet bowl. Place plunger in a clean plastic bag and place it in the housekeeping cart 38. If the toilet does not get unclogged: Please, place the Restroom out of service sign outside the door, right above the lock Call your supervisor over the radio and ask to place a work order to maintenance to unclog the toilet. Maintenance tech will unclog the toilet, retrieve the sign and place it in the Housekeeping closet.
