Principal Notes This has been a special week for our 8 th graders as they prepare to graduate tomorrow night. We will have a special Mass tomorrow at 8:15am for our graduates. Please keep all our 8 th graders in your prayers as they move on to the next step of their journey. Next week is filled with activities. Please see the calendar as there are many field trips scheduled as we finish out of our school year. Our last day will be next Friday, June 10 th. We will begin our day with Mass at 8:15. We will also have our 4 th quarter awards assembly at 10:30am in the gym. We will dismiss at 11:30am. There have been some questions on teachers for next year. Also, we will have 3 classroom aides, Mrs. Cindy Naumann, Mrs. Joan Pauc and the third aide will be hired through Seton Catholic Schools. We will also have a part-time Spanish teacher for grades 4-8. 2016-2017 St. Matthias Parish School Tuition We are working to have everything in place for next year. Below is the tuition scale for the 2016-2017 school year. We realize that Catholic education is a struggle and sacrifice for families, and we work hard to make it affordable. We have increased tuition by 1%. I am sorry that the invoices for next year are delayed. We had a technical problem and had to start over with the invoices. Mr. Richter is trying to get them out by email this week. Your invoice will include a $300.00 payment. This is a $300 payment per family to hold your child(ren) s spot for the 2016-2017 school year. The $300 will be deducted from your total family tuition. It is not in addition to tuition. Also, if you choose to pay in full before June 1, 2016, you will receive a $50 discount per child. If you pay in full before July 1, 2016, you will receive a $25 discount per child. If you pay in full, please make your check out to St. Matthias Parish School. If you will be making monthly payments, we will continue with Smart Tuition. The $300 payment to hold spots may be made through Smart Tuition. Information will be coming on that. I have included information in this mailer on how to set up your account in Smart Tuition for next year. Please call the office if you have any questions. 2016-2017 Tuition Number of Children Parishioner Rate *As a member of St. Matthias Parish, the parish subsidizes the cost to educate a child at our school. The cost to educate is $ Non-Parishioner Rate 1 child $ 3,700.00 $ 6,158.00 2 children $ 6,618.00 $ 10,958.00 3 children $ 8,985.00 $ 14,655.00 4 or more children $10,890.00 $ 17,430.00 There is a $100 Home and School fee that is added to tuition. Hot Lunch Update St. Matthias Parish School has been sending out weekly reminders if the students account is either in a low balance (under $10.00) or negative balance situation. If you are not receiving notifications about your child s food service balance please contact NutriKids parent support line at 1-855-832-5226 as they would need to ask some questions that only the parent could answer in order to fix any problems. As a reminder, St. Matthias s Lunch policy states that a family may not carry a deficit food account balance. If your student s account has a negative balance, the student will not be allowed to purchase ala carte items. If a family s food account balance is continuously negative, the student will be unable to participate in extra-curricular activities including athletics during the semester. Please contact either Mr. Jonathan Richter or Mrs. Susan Booth if you have questions.
2016-2017 School Calendar Our calendar for the 2016-2017 school year is in the mailer. It will also be posted on our website. We will add events throughout the summer, but all school days are set. The final copy will be in our parent handbook in August. There are two items to note. First, we are moving from quarters to trimesters. This means there will be 3 grading periods during the year rather than four. This will help the teachers provide more instruction and assessment during a grading period. This is a move that all Seton Catholic Schools are implementing. We are adjusting a few of our early dismissal days. First, we will continue with our early dismissal on the 2 nd Wednesday of the month, but we are adjusting the dismissal time. We will dismiss at 2:00pm on these days. This will allow for more instructional time each month. There are a few 11:30am dismissals added during the school year. These are before holiday breaks.
