The Gathering provides youth an opportunity to learn more about Jesus Christ, the Christian faith and their Lutheran identity. This event, which is the single largest LCMS event, is organized by LCMS Youth Ministry in St. Louis, Missouri Daniel has been to every NYG since 1998. 1998 Atlanta (10 th Grade) 2001 New Orleans (Freshmen in College) 2004 Orlando (DCE Intern) 2007 Orlando (DCE in Minnesota) 2010 New Orleans (a few weeks after join the staff at CM) 2013 San Antonio (first time leading the CM Youth) 2016 New Orleans (2 nd trip with CM) Video Clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbgw8dvavmc What happens each day while at NYG? Why attend NYG? Choosing to attend the 2016 National Youth Gathering is a big decision and one that should be considered and thought through by the youth and his or her family. Attending NYG will be a year long commitment that will involve numerous events and commitments prior to and after the actually NYG week long trip. Daniel anticipates a group of 40-70 youth attending NYG from Christ Memorial. At NYG, CM will gather with 25,000+ other LCMS youth and adult leaders from across the country and the world. Youth will have the opportunity to experience many different things on NYG, but the ultimate focus will be to grow in their faith and connect with Jesus Christ. This event is not designed to be just a fun week away from mom and dad getting to explore a cool city. Youth looking to experience Christ, spend time with friends and adults leaders, and hopefully be changed should look to attend this trip. This trip will also provide the opportunity for youth to manage time, money, and themselves without their parents. Naturally, much guidance will be provided from Daniel and the adult leaders. Finally, NYG provides an experience different from, but in complementary way to our Mission Trips, by affording youth a time to focus on their relationship with Christ in a deep way.
