1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 This manual This manual contains minimum information that is necessary to properly install F11 reader within access control system RACS 4. F11 biometric reader enables user identification by means of fingerprints and/or EM 125kHz proximity card. Full functional description of access controllers, which control readers is included in other documents. Whereas PR Master software, which is used for access control system management is described in detail within the manual for that software. All documents for RACS 4 are available at www.roger.pl. 2. DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION F11 reader can be operated as standalone device or within RACS 4 access control system. The reader can work with all Roger access controllers that support Wiegand communication, namely PR402DR, PR602LCD and PR411DR. F11 reader should be protected against direct sunlight, strong artificial light, heat and moisture. It is necessary to avoid dust and abrupt temperature changes. In the event of exposure of the device to the outdoor conditions for long periods of time, it is recommended to adapt sunshade and heat dissipation facilities because excessively high or low temperature may slow down the device operation and result in high false rejection rate (FRR) and false acceptance rate (FAR). When installing, please connect the power cable after all the other wiring. The scanner surface of F11 reader must be cleaned periodically by means of wet cloth and mild detergent. Do not clean by means of abrasive materials and strong cleaners like alcohols, solvents, etc. Damages to scanner surface are beyond the scope of warranty. Note: F11 reader requires PR Master 4.4.12 or newer. Table 1. Dimensions HxWxD Weight 66,4 X 153,5 X 61mm 700g 3. INSTALLATION 3.1 Wires and connection diagram In case of F11 reader, the communication is performed in two parallel channels. The configuration and fingerprint templates are transferred by means of TCP/IP or RS485 (can be selected by installer) and confirmation of user identification and access granting or denial is based on Wiegand 26bit interface. F11 reader is equipped with connection panel, plugs and wires. Typical connection diagrams are shown in fig. 1 and fig. 2. In both cases it is assumed that F11 reader is Terminal ID0 connected to access controller. Connection of Wiegand type reader to particular controller is described in the installation guide of such controller. Page 3 of 13

3.2 Design and mounting 3.2.1 Design of F11 reader Power button LED indicator Fingerprint sensor Card sensor area Fig. 3 Design of F11 reader Press and hold the power button for three seconds to turn the power off, press and hold the power button for one second to turn it on. The LED indicator is used to display device operation results and exceptional statuses. Operation is succeeded if the green indicator is on for one second and at the same time the speaker generates single long beep. Operation is failed if the red indicator is on for one second and at the same time the speaker generates double short beep. 3.2.2 Mounting of F11 reader 1. Place the mounting template on the wall. Drill holes for screws and wires according to the marks on the template 2. Take off the water-proof cushion Page 6 of 13

3. Take away the screw on the bottom of device 4. Release the mounting plate 5. Fix the cushion and plate on the wall 6. After connection of wires and power supply mount the reader Fig. 4 Mounting procedure for F11 reader 3.3 Installation guidelines Prior to installation of controller connected to the reader it is recommended to set its address (ID number). Factory default address is ID=00 All electric cables must be connected to devices with disconnected power supply. All devices within RACS 4 system (controllers, readers, extension modules) should have common supply minus (GND). In order to ensure this, all GND terminals from various power supply units used in the system (including access controllers with built-in power modules) should be connected with each other using separate wire. Alternatively, the common supply minus (GND) of the entire system can be earthed however in one, arbitrary selected, point only. A silicone diode of general use e.g. 1N4007 should be always connected in parallel to the door locking device (magnetic lock, electric strike, relay coil) one piece of such diode is delivered with the controller. It should be connected as close as possible to the inductive element. Page 7 of 13

If the range of card reading is significantly lower than specified in technical documentation, consider relocation of controller/reader. After installation, please take off protection film from the fingerprint sensor to get best recognize results. 4. CONFIGURATION 4.1 Communication with F11 reader Configuration of TCP/IP or RS485 communication channel Communication parameters for F11 reader can be configured by means of the software, which is included on CD in the box with the reader. It is recommended to apply software in version 2.4.4.1041. 1. Install Enrollment&Management Software or Access Control Software in version 2.4.4.1041. 2. Start installed application. 3. Select the option Device Management. 4. In the new window click Add button and then depending on selected communication channel enter default values shown in fig. 5. Fig. 5 Configuration of new device in the system 5. The connection can be verified by means of the button Test Connection according to fig. 6. 6. Default parameters can be modified by administrator. New parameters can be entered in the area Communication Options shown in fig. 6 and then uploaded by means of the button Set Options. In the example shown in fig. 6, new IP address of the reader is 192.168.10.100 Note: In case of communication by means of RS485 bus it is recommended to enter different reader address in the field Device ID, than the address of any controller within RACS 4 subsystem. Configuration of Wiegand 26bit communication channel 1. Start previously installed Enrollment&Management Software or Access Control Software in version 2.4.4.1041. 2. Select the option Device Management, then tab Wiegand and then enter settings shown in fig. 7. 3. Install and/or start PR Master software in version 4.4.12 or newer and then in the properties of controller, in the tab Terminal ID0 select the option [17]: Wiegand 26...66 bit reader, User ID (BIN) according to fig. 8 Page 8 of 13

4.2 Configuration of users The configuration of users can be performed by means of PR Master software, which is mainly used for configuration and management of the whole RACS 4 access control system. Both built-in readers of F11 can be used i.e. fingerprint reader and EM125kHz proximity card reader. Note: It is recommended to have Enrollment&Management Software or Access Control Software in version 2.4.4.1041 installed on the same computer, where PR Master is installed, even if any of these F11 applications is not to be used by administrator on daily basis. Users in RACS 4 system can be enrolled and deleted in the window opened by means of the option Users in the main window of PR Master software. In the tab Identification, fingerprint templates, card number and PIN can be assigned to user. Fingerprints can be scanned by means of the option Scan from reader Fig. 10 Fingerprint templates in PR Master software 4.3 Full reset of F11 reader The installer can reset the configuration of F11 reader and return to default values by means of tamper switch located inside reader enclosure (see fig. 11). Full reset results in restoring of administrator password and communication parameters such as IP address as well as clearing of users settings. Full memory reset procedure 1. Switch the reader on and wait until the reader is completely started. The reader shall generate acoustic signals when starting. 2. Remove the screw in the bottom of reader enclosure and dismantle the enclosure of F11 reader in order to start an alarm by activation of tamper switch. 3. Wait approximately 30-40 sec. and then press tamper switch three times by means of adequate tool. The location of tamper switch is shown in fig. 11. Page 11 of 13
