3 1. Specification The set includes: 1. LED clock display 2. CD with MANUAL.PDF manual, and CLOCK.ZIP software utility 3. Temperature sensor (extra option) 4. Buzzer with a volume control (extra option) 2. Introduction Wall LED clock is an industrial class product. It is synchronized via LAN to remote NTP/SNTP Time Server using Network Time Protocol. In addition to displaying TIME, clock can display DATE and TEMPERATURE from the external sensor (extra option). Setting the clocks can be made with the use of buttons or computer www interface via Ethernet TCP/IP. 3. User safety Prior to turning the power supply unit on, please read the user safety information. General User Safety Conditions. The clock must be situated in a safe and stable place, whereas the network cable should be arranged so as not to be subjected to trampling or pulling out of the electrical socket by people or animals moving around the room. Internal clocks must not get wet. They must not be placed on a wet surface or used in wet conditions. Do not place any containers with liquids on the device: vases, glasses, cans, etc. Do not place any naked flame sources on the device: candles, oil lamps, etc. If you notice any damage to the cable or plug, you must immediately go to a service in order to repair the fault. Service If necessary, take the unit to a specialist service. The device has no user-repairable or useful elements. 3

4 PRIOR TO TURNING ON Before you start, check the compatibility of supply voltage with the information on the device or power unit. Always hold the socket, not the cord, while plugging in/unplugging. If anything falls or pours inside the device or power unit, immediately remove the plug from the socket. Neither the device nor power unit, may be used until an inspection is made by a specialist service. Do not dissemble the device or power unit. Interior high voltage may cause a fatal electric shock. Any repairs and adjustments should be made only by qualified service personnel. LOCATION Place the power supply unit in a well ventilated area and free airflow. This will prevent overheating of internal components. Never place the device or power supply unit close to heating devices. Do not place heavy objects on the device. CONDENSATION In certain circumstances (e.g. a sudden change of location from warm to cold), the device and/or power supply unit can become covered by steam, which temporarily prevents the device from being used. When this happens, wait about 2 hours till the temperature stabilizes and the moisture evaporates. 4. Assembly notes Clock has two handles to hang them on a wall or suspend on chains. Do not fasten the clock in a manner that causes stresses in the clock housing. Do not fasten the clock using one side only. If the clock is to be fixed using one side only, it must be specified in an order form. Only then, a special housing for the clock will be made. Do not use other screws from different housings or make additional holes, especially in external versions. Installation of clocks should be made by an authorized person who has appropriate certificates, depending on the scope of necessary work (electrical, elevation, etc.) 4

5 5. LAN (Ethernet) Clock are available with an Ethernet (TCP/IP) interface. They can be included in the local LAN network and controlled from any computer in the local network on which the clock software has been installed. They can be controlled even from distant locations (e.g. different cities, countries or continents) via the Internet. They use the NTP time server for synchronization. Relay control Each clock comes with a control relay, which has one pair of contacts (normally opened) connected to the relay coupling on the housing of the clock. Relay coupling: Relay contact-carrying capacity is 2A 250V AC and it needs to be used in a control circuit (it should control a contactor or a sufficiently large actuation relay), and not in an actuation circuit. 5

Configuring clock (SETUP) 7.1 Factory defaults All clocks' addresses are factory-set to: IP MASK GETEWAY *** not important *** And this address appears by default while inputting parameters of a new clock. 7.2 Setting IP address We do recommend to temporary change your IP using manual settings to: PC x (x 5) MASK GETEWAY *** not important *** Please be sure your PC s IP address belongs to same class of IP. 7.2 Lunching software setup To start installation please extract CLOCK.ZIP to any local target folder, or simply copy binary all \CLOCK subdirectory to your local HD. For Microsoft Windows execute CLOCKCFG.EXE (note: other OS are not supported). Following screen appears on display. 6

7 Type local symbolic name of NTP time server you want to use. This name does not need to correspond to real name of remote server: 7

8 Once you start type NTP_SERVER_NAME, other default parameters appear too. Save your data clicking SAVE button. If IP setting is correct you will be able to read and display CLOCK parameters via network by clicking SERVICE tab, and READ button. If reading error reported please go back IP setting, otherwise firmware data is displayed. 8

9 7.3 Remote NTP Server Configuring clock the IP settings is using special logical sub-network configuration: IP //clock IP IP //your PC - example MASK GETEWAY *** not important *** Configuring remote source of time you need to remember that it will be outside of above subnet. Below screen shows how to configure remote NTP server with IP address accessible from network class (clock will be switch to this subnet in next step) mask gateway Once NTP server IP is ready to store please click Program button. At this step your LED clock still might not be able to communicate with NTP server. The last but not least is necessary, to setup clock target IP that let it work in correct sub-net. The NTP protocol always provides UTC time. Please take care for correct clock setting if you want to provide and support a) daylight saving b) local time related to time zone you are located. 9

10 7.4 Setting or changing clock s IP address By factory defaults your clock is set to work with following subnet: IP //clock IP MASK You might like to change this address and let clock be visible in your final production subnet. Below screen shows how to change clock IP address to final target. In our example, clock will be located at LAN with following configuration: IP //clock IP NTP server //public NTP server MASK GETEWAY //router address Once data is ready to store please click on Program button. Your clock IP will be stored and changed. IMPORTANT NOTE! You will be not able to communicate with clock with old factory default IP. Please use new setting for future communication. You will be able to restore factory defaults using hardware key sequence to reset product. 10

11 7.5 Adding more clocks to LAN After connecting each clock to LAN it is necessary to change it s final address for the right one in order to address it in a local network (see section 7.4). After programming a new IP address in the clock new values of these parameters will automatically appear in IP address and TCP/IP port. Note: You cannot include several new clocks in a network at the same time, as there will be a conflict of IP addresses. Firstly, you must include the first clock, program his target IP address, and then include the next clock, and program its IP address (DIFFERENT from the previous one) and so on. TCP/IP port is a port to which the transmission is sent. By default its value is When choosing a port we must take into account firewalls installed both on your computer, where the clock system has been installed, and in network devices such as switches or routers. It is best to consult your local network administrator and ask him if he allows traffic on the selected port. [Confirmation transmission] - enabling this option causes the program await for a reply confirming data collection after sending it to the clock. If no response comes back, the system will send the data again. If after three attempts the system does not receive any answer from the clock, then a message will be displayed informing about the lack of communication with the clock. 8. Changing the battery Clocks have a built-in battery lasting for about 3 years. After this period, power failure can lead to a reset of the clock. Replace the battery in such an instance. For this purpose, after the power is turned off, unscrew the housing side and remove the front plate - the battery will be visible from the front of the clock. Place a new battery type CR2032 inside. The built-in backup battery exchange should be made by an electrician. In order to ensure environment protection the old battery must be properly disposed of. It should not be disposed of with household waste, but put in a special container. The battery contains lithium. 11

12 9. Recycling The product complies with EU directive 2002/96/EC The crossed bin symbol on the device indicates that the product cannot be disposed of with other household waste. After use, the product should be returned to an electronic waste collection point or returned to the dealer. The user is responsible for returning the device to an appropriate collection point or to the dealer. Adequate waste segregation for later treatment, recovery or destruction helps avoiding negative effects on the environment and health, and allows recovering raw materials from which the product has been made. For detailed information on available collection facilities, please contact the local cleaning service or the shop where the product has been purchased. 12
