Get your software Purchase and download your software The Lumo Play bundle comes with 9 of our best games! Try them all! Lumo Play interactive display software is the brains behind the Lumo Play projector. Follow the steps below to pucahse and download the Lumo Play software and nine games so you can make your very own Lumo Play projector. Go to http:///lumo-play-landing and follow the instructions to register for an account and download your software license and games. 4

Buy your hardware Computer, projector, camera The first step in creating your own Lumo Play projector is to get your hardware ready. You can use any projector (if you already have one), but we re recommending the exact same type of projector we use in the Lumo Play projector prototype. If you use this, your floor will look exactly like what you see in our videos. We re assuming you already have a computer. If you don t, you will need either a computer running 64 bit Windows (Win8 or Win10) or a Mac computer. Tablets and mobile devices will not work. To make it easy, you can go here to buy exactly what you need: 2 2 3 3 1 4 1 4 Mac/Windows Web Camera Bundle 1. Projector 2. HDMI cable 3. Mounting hardware 4. Web camera 5. 2 x cable protection Windows 10 Kinect One Bundle 1. Projector 2. HDMI cable 3. Mounting hardware 4. Kinect for Xbox One 5. Kinect adapter for Windows 6. 2 x cable protection 5

Before you get started Choose the right place to set up The recommended projector will cover an area about 6ft (1.8M) across, and should be mounted on the wall about 6ft - 8ft from the floor (the higher the projector is, the larger the image will be on the floor). 8 ft (2.4M) So the ideal location for your Lumo floor is an area where you have at least 6 x 4 (1.8M x 1.2M) of floorspace available. 6 ft (1.8M) You will need an outlet available to power your computer and projector. If you are using the Kinect for Xbox One it will also need to be plugged in. 6 ft (1.8M) It s recommended that you have a shelf or desk nearby where you can place your computer or laptop. 6

Projector setup Mount your projector Wall Mount for projector The mounting hardware package comes with two small mounts to support the camera and the projector. Use the smaller mount to connect the projector to the wall. 6 ft (1.8M) 7

Camera setup Setting up your camera Use the larger mount to position your camera on the ceiling, directly above the middle of the projection area, pointing down. The bottom of the camera should be on the same side as the bottom of the image on the floor. 8 ft (2.4M) If you are using a Web Camera, it will need to be connected to your computer via USB cable. 6 ft (1.8M) If you are using the Kinect for Xbox One, you will need to use the Kinect Adapter for Windows to connect the camera to your computer s USB3 port (it s blue) and plug the adapter into a power source. 8

Cable protection Hiding the cables We strongly recommend using the cable protection channels ito keep stray power and usb cables away from little hands. Cord Channel Protector Protects loose cords Easy to insert and remove cords from channel 9

Connect all the things! Connect computer, projector, and camera You will need to connect the projector to your computer using the HDMI cable, and plug the projector in to an outlet. The recommended projector can also run on a rechargeable battery, but it will not be as bright. You ll need to connect the Web Camera or Kinect for XBox One (& adapter) using the USB cable attached to the camera (the Kinect must be plugged in to a blue USB3 port, and also plugged in to an outlet). Lastly, you should ensure your computer is plugged in. 10

Software setup Install and run the software Lumo Play software Lumo Play 1 Lumo Play Plus Lumo Play Software Lumo Play software Lumo Play EE You can download and install your software and games from at any time. To download your software Go to My Account - Lumo Play Software - Lumo Play - Pick your opperating system - Download To download your games Go to My Account - My Games - Choose a game - Download 11

Calibration Calibration for web camera The camera should capture as little motion as necessary to make the software work. The left camera display shows you exactly what your camera is seeing. The right display shows you how much motion is being captured. Flip Input is used to flip the camera stream horizontally. If you need to flip the stream vertically, you will need to physically rotate your camera. Zoom in to select just the projection area. Sometimes cameras can see more than just the projection area. Brightness is used if the area is too bright or dark to react to motion. Contrast is used to sense more or less motion. Blur is used if it is detecting too much noise move the slider to the right. Threshold is used to make the tracking more or less sensitive. 12

Calibration Calibration for the Kinect for Xbox One Because the Kinect uses infrared light you need to use physical objects to define the projection area. Depth Sensitivity determines how sensitive the software is to changes in depth (how near or far something is). Minimum Motion Detected is used to ignore or capture smaller motions. Place an object like a chair at each corner of the projection area. Minimum Sensing Distance this is useful if you want to focus the sensing within a very specific area. Pillows, boxes or actual people can help with this as well. Depth Map is used to see what the camera can see. Turn it on by clicking Settings - Show Depth Map. Zoom in to define the area within the objects you ve used to mark the projection area. Maximum Sensing Distance is used to ensure you are only picking up motion in the range you want. Once it s configured remove physical markers (chairs, boxes, people, etc.) and turn Show Depth off. 13

Help Troubleshooting and Support No camera input from Kinect for Xbox One Make sure that the Kinect for Xbox One is plugged into the adapter, and the adapter is plugged in to a USB 3 port and a power outlet. Manufacturers often distinguish USB 3 connectors by blue color-coding of the receptacles and plugs. Make sure that the Kinect for Windows Runtime was installed correctly. You can download the Kinect for Windows Runtime here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details. aspx?id=44559 Make sure the front of the sensor is not obstructed by power cords, computer cables, or other objects.
