DaRIS portal visual user guide In this guide, we show some basic operations that you can do with DaRIS portal. Login / logout To access to the portal, click on this link https://mf-erc.its.monash.edu.au:8443/daris or copy/paste it into the web browser address bar. Input your account information in the Login page Note: If you don't have a DaRIS account, request one via our Informatics Officer not less than one week before imaging. The main interface displays with 3 main parts: (1) the menu on the top (2) the "projectsubject-study-dataset" hierarchy tree which displays all projects that you belong to on the left and (3) the asset information on the right as shown in the following figure: You can change password in "User > Change Password" and logout by choosing "Log out" on the menu. 1
Navigate assets You can navigate assets using the tree on the left panel. This tree is organised using a "project-subject-study-dataset" data model. Click on plus (+) icon to expand the tree to navigate to your assets. Create and modify subjects Before imaging, project CI or delegate has to create subjects. To create a new subject, select the project on the left panel and choose "Action > Create subject" on the menu or right click on the project and select "Create subject" from the context menu. You need to input necessary information for the subject and, then, click "Create" button. Note: the mandatory fields are in bold characters. You can place the mouse cursor on (i) icon to see the description of each field. The private metadata can only be viewed by subject creator and project administrator. 2
A new subject ID is assigned to the subject and you can bring this subject ID to scanner room. 3
To modify a subject, select the subject in the tree and choose "Action > Modify subject..." or right click on the subject and select "Modify subject...". You now can change metadata for the subject in the "Modify subject" dialog. Download data DaRIS uses shopping carts to manage data downloading. There is only one active shopping cart that you can add data to. To add data of an asset (dataset, subject, study, project) to the active shopping cart, first, select the asset and choose "Action > Add to shopping cart" on the menu or right click on the asset and select "Add to shopping cart." You can add several assets into the active shopping cart before ordering it. To view the active shopping cart, choose "Download > Show active shopping cart..." on the menu. To see the all shopping carts, choose "Download > Show shopping cart manager..." on the menu. On "Shopping cart manager" dialog, click "Show Detail" to view contents and settings. 4
To process downloading, click "Order" button in the "Active shopping cart" dialog or select the active shopping cart and choose "Action > Order shopping cart..." in "Shopping cart manager" dialog. You can also set the target format for the data in Setting tab in the "Active Shopping Cart" or "Shopping cart manager" dialogs: 5
Once the active shopping cart is ordered, its status is changed to "data ready" which indicates that you cannot edit it anymore and a new active shopping cart is added. To clear a finished shopping cart, select it and choose "Action > Destroy shopping cart..." You can also choose "Action > Remove finished shopping carts" to clear all finished shopping carts. Send DICOM To push data from DaRIS to a DICOM node, navigate the asset that you want to send and choose "Action > DICOM Send" on the menu or right click and select "DICOM Send". Next, fill AE Title, Host/IP Address and Port information of the DICOM note in the DICOM Send dialog and click "DICOM Send". 6
View DICOM images and metadata With DaRIS portal, you can preview DICOM images and metadata. When you select a dataset from the tree on the left panel, the detailed information of the dataset is displayed on the right panel. To view DICOM images and metadata, click on the DICOM tab. You can click on the "Previous" and "Next" buttons to view DICOM images. The DICOM metadata are displayed below the DICOM images. Import data from local machine You can import a file or folder from local machine to DaRIS. If you import a non-dicom folder, it will be compressed into a container before being uploaded to DaRIS. Import DICOM data Note: you do not need to create studies before importing DICOM data. DICOM data can be imported directly to a subject and a new study will be created automatically. 7
First, choose "Import > Show local files..." on the top menu. Browse to your DICOM folder and drag/drop it to a subject: Then, choose "Create/Import DICOM data sets" in the pop-up menu. Finally, click "Proceed" button in "Create/Import DICOM data sets (subject...)" dialog. You should see a new study with DICOM data. Import non-dicom data You can also import non-dicom file or folder to DaRIS. Note: you need to create studies before importing non-dicom files or folders to DaRIS. First, choose "Import > Show local files..." on the top menu. Then, browse to your file or folder and drag-drop it to a study of the asset tree: 8
In the pop-up menu, you can choose "Create/Import primary data set" or "Create/Import derived data set" to upload non-dicom file or folder. You can provide data set information (e.g. name, description) in pop-up dialog and finally click "Create" button. A new dataset should be added and displayed on DaRIS. 9
