Dunn, MBA, RHIA, CPA, FACHE Chief Operations Officer, First Class Solutions, Inc Ms. Dunn is a Past AHIMA President and recipient of AHIMA s 1997 Distinguished Member and 2008 Legacy Awards. She is Chief Operating Officer of First Class Solutions, Inc. of St. Louis, Mo. Rose started her career at Barnes Hospital, a 1,200-bed teaching hospital in St. Louis. After Barnes, she worked in the managed care industry and also has served as a Chief Financial Officer of a dual hospital system in Illinois. She is active in several professional associations including AICPA, ACHE, HFMA, and AHIMA. She holds fellowship status in HFMA, ACHE and AHIMA. Rose was the president for the St. Louis HFMA Chapter. She was active on the Patient Friendly Bill taskforce and currently is a Yerger Award Judge and member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of HFMA. She is the author of 8 texts, has published numerous articles and made more than 350 presentations across the United States on a wide variety of topics. Her firm specializes in operational performance improvement of HIM and revenue cycle departments and are actively engaged in preparing clients for ICD-10.
Brandon Ho, CIPP HIPAA Compliance Specialist, HIPAA Privacy Officer HIPAA Security Officer Pacific Regional Medical Command Tripler Army Medical Center Brandon Ho is the HIPAA Compliance Specialist for Pacific Regional Medical Command based at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He has 10 years clinical experience in Surgical Services and 6 years of experience as an educator at a parochial school in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was hired by BearingPoint Inc. as a Management Analyst in 2004, overseeing HIPAA Compliance for the Pacific Regional Medical Command. When that contract ended he was hired by the U.S. Army to continue work as the PRMC HIPAA Compliance Specialist. He has presented at several functions throughout the country combining his experiences as a teacher and Subject Matter Expert for patient confidentiality to encourage continued respect for patient rights at all levels of patient care. His national speaking experiences include MedExcellence, HCPro, and at the International Association of Privacy Professionals. He is also faculty for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences.
Elaine Lips, RHIA President & CEO of ELIPSe, Inc Elaine Lips, RHIA is the President & CEO of ELIPSe, Inc., a HIM consulting firm dedicated to transforming Health Information Management (HIM) with emphasis on the EMR, and HIPAA5010 / ICD-10 migration. She has thirty years experience in HIM consulting and information systems in the user, integrated health organizations, and vendor environment. Her extensive experience in HIM includes business process outsourcing, operational assessment, EMR transformation, HIM/Revenue cycle solutions, change management with strong communication and people skills. Prior to forming ELIPSe, Elaine was the HIM Practice Leader for Perot Systems Healthcare. Her responsibilities include business development, transformation to the electronic health record, HIM outsourcing, HIM/revenue cycle solutions such as DNFB reduction solutions, MPI integrity & risk assessment, and HIM operations assessment. In the past, Elaine had several traditional roles in HIM, and then joined an international healthcare organization at the corporate level. There she held several positions, which included consultant, director of marketing, product manager and assistant vice president. She started her first HIM and IT consulting business in 1990, providing specialized services throughout the country, which ultimately merged with three firms to form a knowledge-based consulting and revenue cycle management company. Elaine graduated from the University Of California Los Angeles School Of Public Health with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Elaine is an Advanced Member of HFMA, Senior Member of HIMSS, and has been very active with AHIMA. She also served on CHIA s board of directors. Elaine has served on the HIMSS Electronic Health Record Adoption Committee, and is currently serving on the HIMSS ICD-10 Task Force, and is an Editorial Board Member for Medical Record Briefings. She is a frequent speaker and author. Elaine was the recipient of AHIMA s Visionary Award. In 2010, Elaine was a speaker at the ICD10 Summit in Washington DC, the California Health Information Association State Meeting, Arizona HIMSS Chapter Meeting, No & So CA HFMA Fall Conference, So CA CIO Meeting, and AHIMA Annual Meeting. In 2011, Elaine spoke to the So CA Case Managers Annual Meeting, and the ICD10 Summit in Baltimore, and the HI HFMA Annual Meetingl. All presentations were on ICD10-HIPAA5010-ARRA/HITECH-ACA.
Deanna McCarty-Peterson, MHA, BS, RHIA Assistant Vice President, Health Information Consulting Services, Health Information Services at First Class Solutions, Inc Deanna s expertise in Health Information spans a variety of settings. As Director of Health Information Services for First Class Solutions, Inc., she assists long term care facilities with documentation compliance, medical records policies and procedures, EHR implementation, legal health record definition and privacy issues. She has coordinated with local state long term care associations to begin state-wide preparations for ICD-10. In addition, she has successfully implemented electronic signature, initiated a Clinical Documentation Improvement Program, participated in the selection process of EHRs, coordinated Periodic Performance Reviews for Joint Commission, evaluated transcription options several multi-hospital systems, and conducts operational assessments. Deanna received her B.S. in Health Information Management and M.H.A. from Saint Louis University. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association and has held positions in local and state associations. She is currently serving on the Long Term Care Practice Council for AHIMA.
Dan Rode, MBA, CHPS, FHFMA Vice President of Policy and Government Relations, AHIMA Dan Rode's responsibilities include working with federal agencies, representing AHIMA at meetings with members of Congress and their staff, and providing AHIMA members with up-to-date information on legislative, regulatory, and public policy developments that affect heath information management (HIM). As a spokesperson for AHIMA, he explains HIM practices and the official public policy positions of the Association to government agencies and the media. Before joining AHIMA, Mr. Rode worked at the Healthcare Financial Management Association's (HFMA's) Chicago and Washington, DC offices, where he provided policy analysis and direction for legislative, regulatory, and technical issues affecting HFMA members and other industry groups. Prior to working in association management, Mr. Rode spent 20 years in healthcare financial operations management at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic and the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics. Mr. Rode holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and a bachelor's degree in Management from the Smeal College of Business Administration, Pennsylvania State University.
Petra Smith, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P Owner, Revenue Cycle Consultants Petra Smith has over 20 years experience in the healthcare industry, specializing in coding and reimbursement issues. Petra has worked as a coder and trainer at both small Critical Access Hospitals as well as teaching facilities. Her assignments have been varied; DRG and MS-DRG coding audits and validations, ICD-9-CM/CPT4 coding reviews, and data quality studies. In addition she has taken on Expert Witness testimony work in arbitration for hospitals and health plans. Her favorite HIM function however is training and educating coders and providers. In addition Petra also has a strong background in revenue cycle components. She has performed complete Charge Description Master (CDM) reviews and updates, identified billable and non-billable items, and addressed other charge capture problems. Petra has worked both on the pro-fee and facility side of coding and reimbursement. Petra received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Management from the University of Maryland, and is a Registered Health Information Administrator and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and a Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (CCS-P) with AHIMA Her newest credential is as AHIMA certified ICD-10 trainer.
Cyndee Weston, CMRS, CPC, CMC Executive Director, AMBA Cyndee Weston is a speaker, author, strategist, trainer, and embraces emerging technologies. She is social media lover finding ways to bring medical billers of influence together to interact and learn from each other. She is passionate about encouraging entrepreneurship and sparking creativity and innovation among the billers and coders she works with through the American Medical Billing Association where she serves as Executive Director. She has been instrumental in the development and promotion of medical billing certification and in creating a national movement to ascribe to higher professional standards. Weston has established herself as a reimbursement expert with over 30 years of medical billing, compliance and coding experience. Particularly, she has substantial experience in identifying practice cash-flow leaks and in implementing policies that resolve issues affecting reimbursement. She thrives on the constant changes related to billing and compliance and has extensive knowledge in fraud and abuse detection and prevention as well as HIPAA compliance. Weston is a Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS) through the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA), a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and a Certified Medical Coder (CMC) through Practice Management Institute (PMI).

Wilson, CHAM Maxine has over 30 years of Access Experience and has served on many NAHAM committees as well as several Board positions including Southeast Regional Delegate, Vice-President, President and Past - President. She has been instrumental in the progress of the CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Managers Certification) as well as the CHAA (Certified Healthcare Access Associate Certification), proctoring over 2,000 people. She has presented many topics for different organizations and loves to network with the different organizations and has a great sense of humor as well as a desire to help people.
