A VIPARIS PROJECT Viparis, a subsidiary of the Chambre de Commerce et d Industrie de Paris Ile de France and Unibail-Rodamco, is the European leader in conferences and trade events. It manages the ten main conference centres and exhibition/event/show venues in the greater Paris region. The modernization project of Paris expo Porte de Versailles is intended to bolster Paris s position as the top international destination for business tourism. GETTING IT RIGHT Our 4 goals Modernise the pavilions Improve how the centre interacts with its surroundings Streamline logistical flows Improve the centre s environmental impact 2 3

CULTIVATE THE EXTRAORDINARY AT PARIS EXPO PORTE DE VERSAILLES Key Figures PROVISION SCHEDULE OF WORKS 2015 Phase #1 2017 Reception area - Entrance A Pavilions 1 and 4 Pavilion 7 and the Convention Centre A 10-year project, starting in 2015, that will not interrupt day-to-day operations 4 world-renowned architects A 500M investment program 7exhibition pavilions with 216,000 m 2 of floor space Phase 2018 #2 2020 Pavilion 6 Parking area C Hotel complex 2021 2024 Phase #3 Pavilions 2 & 3 Guy Martin restaurant Garden and tennis grounds phase 1 2015-2017 Esplanade of Pavilion 4 and D4 terrace D4 Terrace Canopy Restaurant Viparis offices and exhibitors service centre Pavilion 7 and the Convention centre Facade, atrium and escalators: Pavilion 7.1 & 7.2 Pavilion 7.3 / Convention Centre Roof, terrace and garden North facade of Pavilion 1 and forecourt Reception area - Entrance A Moving walkways Partial refurbishment of walkway areas The Innovation Cafe Ring with LED screen Services Hub 4 5

CULTIVATE THE EXTRAORDINARY AT PARIS EXPO PORTE DE VERSAILLES RECEPTION AREA AND CENTRAL WALKWAY PAVILION 1 At the reception area: A enormous ring 40 metres in diameter fitted with an LED screen to direct visitors and exhibitors The Services Hub will welcome visitors and will feature a newsagent and a café with an outdoor seating area The Innovation Café will be located at the edge of the park, and will be accessible from the outside Along the main walkway: Installation of covered moving walkways Urban furniture and green spaces Dominique Perrault, an architect and urban planner, attained international prominence in 1989 after winning the design competition for France s Bibliothèque Nationale. Since then, he has received many commissions, both public and private, in the areas of sports and culture in Europe, South Korea and Japan. In 2014, he completed DC Towers, the tallest skyscraper in Vienna and the emblem of the city s new business district, as well as the Grand Théâtre des Cordeliers in Albi in southern France. He is also a member of the Scientific Board of the Atelier International du Grand Paris. A façade imagined by Dominique Perrault We decided on a simple but powerful approach that simultaneously sets the building apart and unifies it. The façade is covered with an immense metal mesh, whose silver colour creates a link with other emblematic structures in the vicinity. The mesh - known as the Great Sail - is positioned several metres in front of the existing façade, creating a covered gallery and canopy. By turns iridescent, reflective and transparent, it reflects both daylight and evening illumination, and seems to shimmer depending on the passer-by s point of view. A large screen, fitted with LEDs and positioned in the centre of the Sail, will be used to broadcast multimedia content concerning events taking place in Pavilion 1. 6 7

CULTIVATE THE EXTRAORDINARY AT PARIS EXPO PORTE DE VERSAILLES THE FORECOURT OF PAVILION 4 PAVILION 7 To improve the visitor experience and strongly highlight the Pavilion s main entrance, a vast canopy will cover the forecourt, sheltering visitors from inclement weather. Openings in its surface will provide natural light and allow the trees planted at its base to flourish. façade imagined A by valode & pistre Pavilion 4 will house Viparis s offices, an exhibitors service centre and a restaurant. 8 Valode & Pistre is an international agency, founded in 1980 by Denis Valode and Jean Pistre. Its areas of expertise include architecture, interior design, urban design and engineering. With an approach that emphasises the contextual and natural aspects of a project, Valode & Pistre have received commissions around the world, and have offices in China and Russia. Designed in 1969 by architects Raymond Gravereaux and Gilles Thin, the original reinforced concrete structure, characteristic of the 1960s, will be enhanced and modernized. The blind surfaces of the northern façade, to the right of the atrium, will be opened up and a new glazed curtain wall will be created. Undulating glass surfaces will create a rippling effect at each level, symbolizing the never-ending movement of the exhibitions and the momentum that brings the entire Park to life. Visitors to Pavilion 7 are treated to a breathtaking view of Paris. The roof seems to float above the structure s glazed top floor, where conferences will be held. The upper part of the atrium s façade, parallel to the central pedestrian thoroughfare, incorporates signage for the new conference and convention centre, heralding the Exhibition Centre s revival. 9

CULTIVATE THE EXTRAORDINARY AT PARIS EXPO PORTE DE VERSAILLES An International Convention centre A STUNNING NEW COMPLEX The new Convention centre will provide Paris with a venue offering unrivalled modularity, capable of meeting the requirements of large international conferences, with spacious plenary meeting rooms connected to two vast exhibition spaces.
