Sapa Building System is pleased to be associated with the leading European construction show in Europe to present and promote its building solutions. In excess of 10 different Sapa Building System companies from various international markets will be represented during the six day long show. Sapa Building System will present 3 state-of-the-art innovations at BAU: 1. Active building skin, NRGY 62 new facade system 2. The passive window: the Avantis Slider Confort 160

Active building skin, NRGY 62 new facade system A high performance building skin, such as the NRGY 62 façade system is key to achieve zero energy buildings. Highly insulated and airtight façade systems contribute substantially to energy conservation. By adding solar shading, controlling the opening elements and integrating decentralised ventilation; the use of energy is minimised. NRGY 62 facilitates renewable energy production through solar electricity generation by using Building Integrated Photovoltaics. The NRGY 62 façade system is designed to meet contemporary architectural requirements and allows large glass sizes to maximise natural light penetration. Glass weights up to 400kg can standard be accommodated due to our innovative smart pin system. NRGY 62 compliments the already extensive range of E52 & E72 curtain wall systems available from Sapa Building System.

The passive window: the Avantis 95 The Avantis 95 has been awarded the certificate of suitable component for passive houses from the Passivhouse Institut in Darmstadt and the Ift in Rosenheim. It complies with the highest insulation standards. Avantis is a state-of-the art passive window system: high thermal insulation, extremely high level of air density (6 times higher than the European standard) and water resistance up to 1200 Pa. The system is a mere 95 mm deep and available in any colour. It also has the dual-colour option with a different colour on the inside and outside and can accommodate a sash weight of up to 170kg.

4 4/9 3. Slider Confort 160 Confort 160 is a high performance, thermally insulated sliding door system, with a user friendly slide action. The system, with an attractive aesthetic appearance, is durable, stable and remarkably energy efficient. With a panel weight of up to 400 kg, large glazed areas are easily attainable. The frame allows 5 internal floor finishes to be flush with the inner frame, allowing easy access.

This ambitious plan is reflected in the architectural aspiration, as the trifold form is designed as a communication platform merging the environment, energy and health. Inspiria Science Centre combines communication and architecture into an inspiring and eventful whole, in order to provide new spaces for learning and supports the idea of sustainability as a window of opportunity to increase the quality of life between humans and the environment. Inspiria Science Centre is thus designed as a passive house in close contact with both nature and the users, as glass enclosed wings extend from the focal circular atrium creating a dynamic heart to the building. By merging the architecture and the science centre s focus on the environment, energy and health, Inspiria Science Centre is designed as a vibrant communications platform with a clear narrative. The narrative permeates the building design, as the trifold form symbolises nature s cyclical repetitions and spiral forms, which blend with the technology cycle expressed in the universal power of the circular basic form. The goal has thus been to create a striking building, which in itself constitutes an identity-laden branding of Inspiria Science Centre by uniting the activities of the science centre into a single concept.

Office Burian - Krivinka Sapa products: Elegance 52, Avantis 70, Elegance 52 FR Surface: 2500 m 2 AZ Tower is a skyscraper under construction in Brno, Czech Republic. It will be 111m tall, covering 30 floors. When completed, it will be the tallest building in the Czech Republic. AZ Tower is going to be 109m tall, carry 32 floors and will overlook all other buildings in the southern centre, including M-Palace and Spielberk office centre.

8 8/9 One Angel Square United Kingdom Architect: 3DReid, United Kingdom Sapa products: Double skin façade, E72 unitized CW system, tailor-made solution Surface: 30,000 m 2 of office space One Angel Square is a high rise office building under construction in Manchester, England. On completion in 2012, it will serve as the head-office of the Co-operative Group. The building is part of the 800 million NOMA development in the northern quarter of Manchester city centre. The 100 million landmark building will be one of the most sustainable large buildings in Europe. It will have a biodiesel cogeneration plant using rapeseed oil to provide electricity and heat. It will make use of natural resources, maximising passive solar gain for heat and using natural ventilation through its double skin façade, adibatic cooling, rainwater harvesting and waste heat recycling. The building has been nicknamed the sliced egg because of its distinctive shape. A focal point is the diagonal slice which creates a nine-floor high atrium with its glass roof tilted towards the south, maximising daylight and passive solar gain. The building s exterior has a double skin façade with a cavity between its inner windows and the outer glass panel structure. The double skin façade is for sustainability and aesthetic reasons and allows for greater control of heating and ventilation, and accentuates the three curved corners of the building. To accentuate the form further, the exterior aluminium structure holding the glass panels in place has been anodised in a bronze-coloured finish, so it will shimmer in the sun.

9 9/9 VaryaP Meridian Turkey Architect: RMJM Architecture Sapa products: Elegance 72 unitised Varyap Meridian is a mixed-use development located near Istanbul s new financial and business district. Varyap Meridian Grand Tower will be the tallest building in this project, at 244 m. The project will consist of a 61-storey tower, 1,500 residential units, a five-star hotel, offices, and conference facilities with landscaped public areas and parking facilities. The residential complexes will contain a variety of options ranging from luxury five-bedroom penthouse apartments to small studio apartments. In total, the development will serve 20,000 people and is expected to cost $1 billion. Set on a 107,000m² parcel, the project will be built out to 372,000m². The large development will feature many sustainable elements including rainwater collection sites and facilities to optimise water usage and reduce energy consumption, wind turbine technology, cooling water pools that enhance the external landscape, and a co-generation plant that will produce electricity for the development. The designers also carefully analysed the location, orientation, and landscaping of the project to optimize panoramic views and minimize solar heat gain to the buildings. Istanbul s culture and heritage are also included in the design, which incorporates a spectral tiled façade that ranges from terra cotta to blue to white.
