Farmington Central High School 30415 Shiawassee Farmington Hills, MI 48336 Phone 248-489-3827 Fax 248-489-3383 April 14, 2015 Dear Parents, Graduates, and Potential Graduates of the Class of 2015: As you know, graduation is coming up very soon. We hope the time you have spent at Central has been a time of personal, social and academic growth for all of our students and that each of you leave with a feeling of deep satisfaction and many good memories. To the June graduates, remember, you have not graduated yet. You still need to come to school every day, be engaged in all your classes, and finish your E20/20 s or correspondence classes. You are so close, DO NOT GIVE UP NOW. We want to see all of you walk across the stage on Thursday, June 11. Keep in contact with your counselor and teachers to make sure you are on target. The enclosed information should prove helpful as you make your way through the various events planned for this special time. Please call the main office at 248-489-3827 if you need clarification on any aspect. It has been a pleasure working with you during your time at Central. Please accept our very best wishes for a happy and successful future. Sincerely, Pat Karas, Principal Renee Champagne, Counselor Another Choice, Another Chance

GRADUATION INFORMATION CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 2015 will be graduating on Thursday, June 11 at 7:00 p.m. from the Farmington High School auditorium. We request that seniors approach commencement with a serious and purposeful attitude. CAP AND GOWN If you have not ordered your cap and gown yet, you will need to contact my secretary, Laura Galloway to place your order. At the time of this mailing the cost of a cap, gown, and tassel will be $52.90. Cap and gown protocol requires that the gown be free of wrinkles; gowns are worn closed and zippered. The cap should be placed on the head so the mortar board is level with the long point to the back. It is customary to drape the tassel over the left temple. Students will receive directions to change it to the right side after all the students have received diplomas. Honor students will be wearing medals they have received at the Senior Awards Luncheon. Caps and Gowns will be passed out after the Senior Awards Luncheon on June 5, 2015. GRADUATION PRACTICE Thursday, June 11, 12:45 pm Seniors must arrive for practice by 12:45 pm to Farmington High School in the cafeteria. Staff will assist in getting students in the proper order. Practice should last no longer than an hour. Do not bring your cap or gown to practice. GRADUATION COMMENCEMENT 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Commencement at Farmington High School Graduates need to be at Farmington High by 6:30 at the latest. No tickets are needed for graduation. Seating is on a first come basis and there is no charge or limit on the number of guests. Lemonade and cupcakes will be served in the cafeteria after the program. In keeping with an educational tradition dating back more than 300 years, it is important that we all contribute to the dignity, solemnity and respect for the ceremony. We ask for your help in maintaining the dignity of the ceremony by observing the following traditions: Gentlemen are asked to wear a nice shirt, (no t-shirts) nice slacks (no jeans), nice shoes and socks. Ladies are asked to wear a light-colored dress or blouse and skirt. All graduates are reminded that the academic graduation gown is never decorated with flowers, jewelry or decorations other than that provided by the school. It is customary to stand during the processional and the National Anthem. Please remain standing during the recessional as the graduates exit the auditorium. Hold applause until all graduates have received their diplomas. It is important that each and every family be able to hear the name of their graduate. Also, remember that graduation is a dignified event. Please do not bring any noisemakers or yell out names. Thank you for your assistance.
