Program costs Tuition payment is a prerequisite for enrollment. The tuition for the academic year 2016/2017 is 20.000 ( 20.000 is to reach our account, i.e. all transfer fees are applicant s responsibility). If the tuition is not paid all at once, the first installment of 8,800 must be paid before or on 1 st July 2016. The remaining 11.200 must be paid before or on 15 th November 2016. The tuition for the academic year 2017/2018 is 18.000. Tuition Fee is calculated based on the expenses of practical cinematography exercises + part of the money is used for common exercises that cinematography students participate in with directors from other departments. Because the studio lighting and 35mm exercises are more expensive than the exercise of final film Color etude, the tuition fee in the first year is higher ( 20.000) than the second year ( 18.000). There is an option for reduced fees: If you pay the tuition fee for the entire academic year in advance, i.e., before 1 st July 2016, the fee is decreased to 19.000 first year / 17.000 second year. If you pay tuition fee in advance before 1 st July 2016 for both years, you pay just 35.000. Currently, there are no scholarship programs for students in place at FAMU, although we hope to find possibilities for partial funding through our alumni in the future. Some countries offer student grants for international studies and we encourage our applicants to look into the possibilities available for research or study grants designed for international studies in their countries. The maximum of students accepted in one class is 7. The minimum is 4. In the event FAMU receives less than four qualified applicants, the Cinematography department will not open a Master's program for that year. Accommodation in Prague FAMU (AMU) has it's own AMU student s dormitory and canteen, situated in the center of Prague. However, FAMU can not guarantee the international students to get place in the AMU dormitory. There are more dormitories of other universities in Prague. In any case, it is necessary to order this form of accommodation well in advance. Most of our students find their accommodation through rental agencies such as Maxima.cz, Sreality or HappyHouseRentals in Prague. We expect that students of cinematography will be independent experienced travelers, but we are ready to help you with any problems. Should you have any further questions, please contact the Program coordinator
