Further details of all our courses and how to apply are contained on our website and in our publications. Prague Business College is the renowned provider of education and training in the area. Students of all ages and abilities have gained success on our broad range of courses. The College offers some specialist courses that are not available elsewhere in the surrounding Area. We have high expectations of all our students and in return we provide a high quality adult learning environment to meet your needs. Our facilities are of a high standard and many our lecturers usually have business or industrial experience to ensure that courses are relevant to working life. 4 Requirements: In order to gain admission into a chosen course at Prague Business College the student is required to apply online and submit the following supporting documents: Complete Online Application ( Passport Copy (minimum validity 18 months) 2 Colour Photos (scanned and uploaded with application) Educational Certificates (in English) English Qualifications OR if English qualification is not available a placement screening test or interview set by Prague Business College (conducted via our authorised representative or directly by the college) Appropriate tuition fees to be paid as stated on initial offer letter along with any other deposit requirement for accommodation, Medical Insurance etc. Process: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step6 Step 7 In order to gain admission at Prague Business College the prospective student is required to complete and submit an application form along with all the supporting documents stated above. Once the college has received your application along with all supporting documents, it will be passed on to the admissions department for processing. An admission interview via Skype/Telephone will be scheduled and results of such tests added to your application. (If any supporting documents are missing the student will be asked to submit the missing document.) Once we have received a complete application, supporting document from the student and the admission interview has taken place, the admissions department will assess the application. If the application is successful, the applicant will be sent a Conditional offer of Admission via confirming that the college is able to offer the student a place on the chosen course. The letter will also state the various payments that the student is required to make to the college at this stage. This includes deposit towards course fees, accommodation and Medical Health Insurance. Please note that it is mandatory visa requirement that the student has a visa letter from Prague Business College along with Accommodation letter and Medical Health Insurance. (Please also note that if a student fails to obtain a student visa these deposits are refunded to the student less any administration charges as explained on the initial letter and in accordance with our refund policy. The accommodation and medical Insurance are arranged via third party and the student will be given the copy of the actual invoice. We do not charge any administration fee for arranging medical insurance or accommodation.) Once the student has made the appropriate payments, the college will issue a visa letter, student enrolment letter and also arrange accommodation letter and medical health insurance certificate in the student's name in accordance with the Visa requirement. The student will then be sent these documents via courier. Once the student receives these documents, the student is required to apply for a student visa without delay and keep the college updated of the status of application. (The visa application requirements and process are explained separately. Please refer to the guidelines provided and furthermore contact your local Czech embassy or your representative for further information on preparing for visa application.) Once applicants are issued with visas, they are required to inform the college of their travel dates and report to the college on arrival in order to complete all registration formalities. (Please note that accommodation needs be reconfirmed before arrival and any requests for airport pick up needs to be made and confirmation received prior to travel. Please allow 3 working days prior to travel if airport pick up service is requested.) 3 P a g e

5 Student Visa requirements and Process: In order to apply for a student visa the student is required to submit visa application form at the Czech Embassy along with supporting documents as detailed below: 1. Completed visa application form - available upon request at the Czech Embassy or a consulate or online at 2. Valid Passport - a valid passport with a minimum validity of 18 months 3. Two passport sized photographs 4. Appropriate visa fees - check with embassy 5. Certificate of clean Criminal Record History / Police Clearance letter from country of nationality of applicant (has to be notarised and translated into Czech language - to be organised by applicant) 6. Course Acceptance letter in Czech language (Visa letter)- Provided by Prague Business College 7. Accommodation confirmation letter in Czech language- arranged by Prague Business College 8. Medical Health Insurance- arranged by Prague Business College 9. Recent Bank statement from a current account with debit card facility (has to be translated into Czech language)- account showing sufficient living expenses available to the applicant for one year (approximately 6,000 Euros). A copy of debit card to be produced with bank statement (to be organised by applicant). 10. To sign a form for Criminal Record check at the Czech embassy - The embassy carries out a criminal check in Czech Republic for all applicants. This is in addition to the Criminal record that the applicant has already produced from their country of nationality. The forms are available in Czech embassy which has to be completed by applicant at the embassy at the time of visa request, enabling embassy to carry out criminal checks in Czech Republic even if the applicant has never travelled to Czech Republic before- This is done by the embassy on behalf of the applicant and is mandatory for all applicants. There is a small fee for this service payable to the embassy. Note: The application forms and guidance notes are available at the Czech embassy in your country. Applicants are advised to check with the embassy for the appropriate fees and any changes to the requirements. Please note that application process, appointment systems, interview requirement, visa fees and other supporting documents may slightly vary from country to country. We advise you to check with the embassy for accurate information. Please also note that the average time for processing student visas by the Czech embassy is currently 3 months. Therefore we advise that you apply for the course 3 to 4 months prior to course commencement date. If you are not sure about our available start dates, please ask and we shall be happy to recommend an appropriate start date for your chosen course. Please ensure all documents are in original as photocopies will not be accepted at the embassy. Please also ensure that you start arranging for the bank statements and police clearance certificate alongside all other documents whilst you are applying for admission in order to save time. This payment must be added to the draft. * If an applicant decides to withdraw from a course either prior to or during the visa application process an administration charge of 500 EUROS will be applied. The NQF can help learners to make informed decisions about the qualifications needed for a particular career or to compare the levels of different qualifications. 8 All requests for refund must be made in writing by the applicant addressed to Prague Business College and should clearly state the following: Details of the applicant to include reference number & course details. Total fees deposited and the reason for request of tuition fees. Applicants bank details including swift codes to receive refund. All supporting and relevant documents to be returned to the college. The following rules will apply under the given circumstances: 1. Student refused visa: In such an event the student is required to submit to the college a refund request letter with information stated above, along with the original visa refusal letter from the Embassy and has to be notarised. The student would then receive a refund less admin charge and any bank charges for the transfer. Refund processed within 12 weeks of receiving request letter along with supporting documents. 2. Student obtained admission letter or visa but wishes to cancel their course prior to arrival to Czech Republic or Student arrives at the airport in Czech Republic but is deported: In such an event the student is required to approach the Embassy to cancel their visa and obtain a letter from the Embassy to state that the visa has been cancelled. Original visa cancellation letter has to be produced and has to be notarized. The applicant is then required to submit a refund request letter as stated above. The applicant will be entitled to a 50% refund of the tuition fee paid. This will be processed within 6 weeks of receiving request letter along with supporting documents. Please note that an administration charge of 500 EUROS will be applied in addition to the fee deduction. 3. Student arrived to the Czech Republic: Once the student has arrived in the Czech Republic, the student is NOT entitled to a refund. The student is required to attend classes; failure to attend will result in the student being expelled reported to the authorities. 4. Student enrolling in Czech Republic: Students enrolling locally are not eligible for a refund under any circumstances. 5. Deception/Fraud: If the applicant or anyone acting on the applicant s behalf has used fraudulent measures or documents to gain enrolment at Prague Business college or to support their visa application at the Embassy and has been subsequently refused a student visa will be NOT be entitled to a refund. 6. Withdrawn students / Expelled students: Students withdrawing from their course after arrival or expelled due to misconduct, failure to meet academic or financial commitments will not be entitled for a refund of any tuition fees paid. 7. 3rd Party Payments: Students must send a signed letter to confirm that they require the refund amount to be paid to a 3rd party if this is required. The letter must include name, address, and bank account details. Note: If an applicant decides to withdraw from a course either prior to or during the visa application process an administration charge of 500 EUROS will be applied. 9 When international students apply to Prague Business College, the admission department arranges accommodation reservation letters for the students in accordance with the visa requirements set out by the Czech embassy. Accommodation confirmation letter is mandatory for visa application. The accommodation is usually arranged in a student hostel and the hostel provides confirmation of the reservation. The cost of accommodation is 190 Euros per month approximately and depends on the type of accommodation chosen. The location is chosen with careful consideration given to the students' needs: distance from the College, access to public transport, access to stores, etc. The hostel charges that are available to student are discounted as there is a formal agreement between the providers of hostel facilities and Prague Business College. Please note that range and types of accommodation available and corresponding charges carefully and inform the college of your choice at the time of your admission. In the event that students fail to convey their choice of accommodation to the college, accommodation will be booked in a two person room and charges will be applied accordingly. Students who do not wish to reserve their accommodation via the college and intend to make their own arrangements please note that proof of accommodation is mandatory and accommodation letters must be issued in the prescribed format by Czech Republic Interior/Immigration Ministry approved (Registered) providers of accommodation. In the event that this criterion is not fulfilled, visa application will be refused. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE COLLEGE DOES NOT APPLY ANY ADMINISTRATION CHARGE OR SURCHARGE ON HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION. ALL FEES PAID BY STUDENTS ARE FORWARDED DIRECTLY TO THE HOSTEL. Prices are per person for one month VAT included: The price per person per months depends on the number of beds in the room. Rooms with common bathroom facilities: 1) TWO beds in the room: 192* EUR 2) THREE beds in the room: 190* EUR 3) FOUR beds in the room: 188* EUR Rooms with a private bathroom: TWO beds in the room: 260* EUR * Non-EU students please note that charges apply for accommodation confirmation letters. 10 COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1) Where is Prague Business College located? Prague Business College is located in the centre of Prague, capital of the Czech Republic in Central Europe. It has been a member of EU since ) What is the address of the college? The college is located in Karlin; Prague - The address is: Karlinske Namesti 225/8, , Prague 8, Czech Republic The nearest Metro Station is Krizikova (B Line) and the nearest tram stop is Karlinske Namesti. 3) Who awards your qualifications, are they recognised/accredited? Our programs are awarded by EDEXCEL. Edexcel is accredited by OFQUAL (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), a government regulator of qualifications, examinations and assessments in England. 4) What is the language of instruction/teaching at Prague Business College? All our programs are taught in English. 5) Am I required to have an IELTS score or any other proof of proficiency in English? We prefer that a student has English language certification; however, it is NOT required. If a student does not have any English Certification, the student must complete an assessment test in English and also a Skype interview. Note: Skype interview is part of our application process for all candidates. 6) What should I expect from the Skype interview? Typically the interview will take between 10 and 15 minutes and the following 5 areas will be assessed in the interview. a) Proficiency in English b) Suitability for the course c) Knowledge of the course d) Knowledge of Czech Republic e) Future plans 7) What happens if I cannot satisfy the college English Language requirements? If a student's knowledge of English is not at the level required for our programs we can offer intensive English courses at PBC (3 & 6 months). These courses help our students attain a B2 Level of proficiency in English. Students can also attend such courses in his/her country and re-apply later. 8) Do I have to pay for the English Language Program? Yes, the fee structure can be found on our website in the section 'Academic Programs' 9) What happens if I am refused for reasons other than English proficiency? If students are refused admission for reasons other than English, we recommend that they pursue their academic aspirations at another institution as the assessor has found our courses not to be compatible with their motives and goals. The minimum period for re-application is 6 months. 10) How many intakes does the college have in a year? The college has intakes every month. This means that students can apply all year round. 11) Can I defer my intake, if I do not get my visa on time? Yes, it is possible as we have intakes for undergraduate and postgraduate programs every month. The maximum time you would have to wait, for the next intake, would be less than a month. 9 P a g e

11 12) Can I transfer my credits to any other country? Most academic institutions in the UK and worldwide recognise and accept qualifications gained at PBC. Credits are easily transferable. 13) How long are the courses? Our courses are typically 1 to 3 years. Short courses are also available. 14) How many hours of classroom tuitions are there in a week? Students typically undertake between 15 and 20 hours of classroom tuitions in a week. 15) Do I need to undertake an internship as part of the course? Some courses require students to undertake internships; the college will arrange all such internships. 16) Are mandatory internships paid? Internships are usually carried out to gain a working knowledge of industry. However some internship providers may pay a stipend to cover the cost of travelling and food. 17) What type of visa do I need? If a visa is required for your country of origin, you will need a long term visa, type D 18) How long does the visa procedure take? The process of application for a long term visa takes approximately 3 months. 19) What kind of proof of Finance must I provide for a visa application? The proof of finance you must provide is an account statement with a valid bank card. A bank account statement must be provided in the student's name with the specified amount required for the stay in the Czech Republic (closing balance 6000 EURO). The account statement can be issued by a bank or financial institution anywhere in the world. Valid internationally recognised bank card relating to the account in question must be provided as a proof that the student will have an access to this money while he/she will be studying in the Czech Republic. (Parents, guardians or sponsors account statements are not acceptable). 20) Do I need police clearance and why? Yes, you need a police clearance. To provide a Police Clearance Certification (PCC) is one of the requirements for the visa application. Note: PCC must be provided from the country of origin and all countries where you have lived for more than 6 months without a break for the last 3 years. 21) What is Apostille and Superlegalisation? Apostille and Superlegalisation is an act of legalisation of foreign documents. In this case, it is the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). Documents issued in one country, is usually not considered valid in another foreign country without an Apostille or Superlegalisation. You need either an Apostille or Superlegalisation on you PCC document, it depends on the country where the PCC was issued. Apostille can be done by Department of Foreign Affairs (government), Foreign Ministry, or Ministry of External Affairs. Superlegalisation will be done by Czech Embassies abroad. 22) Can I apply for Czech visa from a country different from my country of citizenship? If you are, for example: third country citizen living or studying in UK, you can apply for Czech visa in the country where you are staying. Note: you have to follow all the requirements for visa procedures. 10 P a g e

12 23) Can I invite my spouse to the Czech Republic for the duration of my stay there? Yes, students are allowed to invite their spouses to stay with them. We strongly advise our students and prospective applicants to arrive in the Czech Republic, settle down into a routine and only then invite spouses. 24) Is medical insurance mandatory? Medical Insurance is mandatory for visa purposes and must be valid for whole period of your stay in the Czech Republic. A student must provide evidence of a valid health insurance policy when requested by Czech Embassy. The college will assist a student in getting medical insurance. 25) Does the college provide accommodation and what is the cost? Yes, the college arranges accommodation for our students. We have an agreement with a hostel close to the college which offers discounted rates for our students. The prices can be found on our web site. Note: The accommodation is also one of the requirements for visa application. Student must provide prove of accommodation while applying for visa. 26) What is the name and address of the hostel? Students will stay at the Altis Hostel. It is three stops away from the college by tram (Invalidovna Tram Stop) and one stop away by Metro (B Line - Invalidovna). The address of the hostel is- Pod Plynojemem 7, , Prague 8, Czech Republic. 27) What is the average cost of living in Prague? The cost of living in Prague, Czech Republic is very low compared to other countries such as UK and USA. The cost of living per month is approx. 400 EUROS (accommodation, food and drinks, travel pass, phone card, books, internet etc.) 28) Can I work during my studies? Yes, you can work as long as it does not interrupt your scheduled classes. The average wage here in Prague is around 3-4 Euros per hour. The college will provide students assistance in finding part-time employment as well as assisting with work permit. 29) Can I travel to any other countries country in Europe? Yes, you are allowed to travel to all European counties which are part of the Schengen Area. 30) Can I open a local bank account? Yes, we will assist you in opening a bank account. 31) What is the currency used in the Czech Republic? The local currency is the Czech Crown. (Please note that the EURO is not the official currency). 32) Can I apply for permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic? Yes, you can apply after 5 years of continuous residence in the Czech Republic. 33) How is life for students in Prague? The cost of living is low. The people are very friendly and the city is very vibrant with clubs and various attractions. There are lots of activities for students and our students always have an enjoyable experience. 34) Is Prague a safe city? Prague is a very safe city with very low crime rates. Student Refused Visa: In such an event the student is required to submit to the college a refund request letter with information stated above, along with the original visa refusal letter from the Embassy and has to be notarised. The student would then receive a refund less admin charge and any bank charges for the transfer. Refund processed within 4 weeks of receiving request letter along with supporting documents. 2. Student obtained admission letter or visa but wishes to cancel their course prior to arrival to Czech Republic or Student arrives at the airport in Czech Republic but is deported: In such an event the student is required to approach the Embassy to cancel their visa and obtain a letter from the Embassy to state that the visa has been cancelled. Original visa cancellation letter has to be produced and has to be notarized. The applicant is then required to submit a refund request letter as stated above. The applicant will be entitled to a 50% refund of the tuition fee paid. This will be processed within 6 weeks of receiving request letter along with supporting documents. 3. Student arrived to the Czech Republic: Once the student has arrived in the Czech Republic, the student is NOT entitled to a refund. The student is required to attend classes; failure to attend will result in the student being expelled reported to the authorities. 4. Student enrolling in Czech Republic: Students enrolling locally are not eligible for a refund under any circumstances. 5. Deception/Fraud: If the applicant or anyone acting on the applicant s behalf has used fraudulent measures or documents to gain enrolment at Prague Business college or to support their visa application at the Embassy and has been subsequently refused a student visa will be NOT be entitled to a refund. 6. Withdrawn Students / Expelled Students: Students withdrawing from their course after arrival or expelled due to misconduct, failure to meet academic or financial commitments will not be entitled for a refund of any tuition fees paid. 7. Third Party Payments: Students must send a signed letter to confirm that they require the refund amount to be paid to a 3rd party if this is required. The letter must include name, address, and bank account details. Note: If an applicant decides to withdraw from a course either prior to or during the visa application process an administration charge of 500 EUROS will be applied. This charge is in addition to the non-refundable fees.
