Installing the New PTS Launch Icon To give you easier access to the Philips Telehealth Application, there is a new installer package that you can download from our web site and install on your computer. A new PTS icon will be added to your desktop, and you will use that icon to open the Telehealth Application (instead of going to your web browser). Benefits of using the new PTS icon No more Java conflicts. The installation package and icon allow you to use a fixed version of Java to run PTS, but also allows you to use different versions of Java elsewhere. When you use the PTS icon, separate instances of Java can be run and managed independently of the instance used for PTS, without causing any issues with the PTS application. Security updates. By using the new PTS icon, you can run the latest version of Java in your browser or elsewhere without any conflicts with PTS, thereby ensuring you always have the latest version of Java with the most recent security updates. Browser settings. You can now turn on automatic updating of Java in your browser or even change your browser settings to block websites from running Java. This will protect your computer from running malicious software from any web sites that you visit. (You currently cannot change this setting if running PTS from a web browser.) How to Install the PTS Icon The PTS Launch Icon can be installed in a few steps. These instructions will take you through the installation process step by step. Installation Process Overview 1. Remove Java 1.7.17 from your computer to avoid installation conflicts. 2. Download the PTS Launch Icon. 3. Run the PTS Launch Icon installer wizard. Note: If a PTS user also uses a Java application that requires Java version 1.6 or less, then they should not install and use the Launch Icon. They can continue to access PTS as they do now, using the URL https://ops-request.philipshomemonitoring.com/default.htm
Remove Java 1.7.17 Before installing the PTS Launch Icon, remove any instances of Java 1.7.17 from your computer as this can cause conflicts during the installation. The PTS Launch Icon installer will install a new version of Java 1.7.17 as part of its installation procedure. You do not need to remove any other versions of Java. 1. Open the Windows Control Panel (Start > Control Panel). 2. Click Programs and Features. 3. Scroll through the list of programs to find Java 7 Update 17. 4. If you see Java 7 Update 17 in the list, double click on it. 5. In the Programs and Features window, click Yes to uninstall this version of Java. This will uninstall Java 1.7.17 from your computer. 6. Restart your computer. 7. You can now download the PTS Install Icon and run the installation wizard.
