Extended AMAN (XMAN) for London Heathrow NATS setting the scene

Extended AMAN (XMAN) London Heathrow Heathrow is one of the world s busiest dual runway airport XMAN is a partnership between UK Ireland FAB and FABEC to deliver the Extended AMAN SESAR solution Within London FIR Descent Speed Procedure To neighbouring FIRs XMAN Horizon: 350 NM To oceanic airspace TOPFLIGHT: Oceanic Metering XMAN for London Heathrow, managed by NATS, is the world s first implementation of an Extended AMAN system with multi-ansp partners 14

Extended AMAN (XMAN) London Heathrow Airport operation at full capacity average holding 8 mins Cross border collaboration: reliant upon neighbours to enable the benefits of E-AMAN to airline customers Operational trials since April 2014 April - September Speed instruction: 0.03M Delay trigger > 9 mins September Onwards Speed instruction: 0.04M Delay trigger > 7 mins 15

i4d and ASAS supported by E-AMAN SEQUENCE Arrival Management processes assure an optimum arrival sequence by the allocation of Controlled Time of Arrival (CTA) at an appropriate fix MERGE ASPA Merging technique achieves precise pair-wise time-based spacing at fix SPACE In trail time-based spacing - precise final approach spacing in all wind conditions 38

E-AMAN, i4d and ASAS Operational Concept CHI 1452 NIKMA 1500 LIGBU 1507

E-AMAN Results Achieved E-AMAN concept and Delay Sharing technique were considered acceptable by ATCOs as potential improvement for TMA traffic synchronization; Delay sharing technique and associated working methods gained an high level of acceptability among ATCOs (help controllers in synchronizing and ordering the descending traffic) ; Integration of E-AMAN with I4d and ASAS S&M Workload acceptable level; Situational Awareness improved. Continuous training to be ready to manage circumstances with partial/total failure/unavailability of innovative technologies and innovations supporting automation Concept validation in a Medium/Medium scenario with a more complex Environment for i4d and ASAS S&M RTS and Live Trials

Next steps Timely, coordinated, synchronised deployment by 24 European airports by 2024

Maximising performance Coordination at European global level to maximise performance Apportionment of delay between ANSPs and responsibility for meeting arrival constraints Increased involvement of stakeholders Standardisation of procedures Connectivity between systems airports, NM, ANSPs

SESAR 2020 Very Large Scale Demonstrations 1. Coordination of arrival constraints between upstream ANSPs 2. Demonstration of data sharing between participating ANSPs and aircraft 3. Involvement of right blend of stakeholders Validation focus Integration of information from multiple systems via SWIM Interaction between traffic synchronisation and dynamic capacity balancing Consolidation of Traffic Synchronisation solution in high density environment with CTA, ASPA-IM S&M manoeuvres End-to-end optimised profiles Interoperability of the new operations/capabilities
