Overview Thank you for instaing Express Points Presentation Software for presentation. Use Express Points Presentation Software to create, view, show and print presentation documents quicky. Express Points presentations consist of tempates and sides that aow the user to organize and present various information (e.g., text, pictures, audio, video, and graphics shapes) in a professiona manner. Getting Started When first starting Express Points Presentation Software, you wi be greeted by the wecome diaog, where you can seect to either: Create a new project Open an existing project fie Read the Getting Started guide Seecting 'Create new project' wi open the main window, where you wi spend most of your time refining your presentation. Whie you refine your presentation, you can cick the Sideshow button on the main window toobar to bring up a fu screen preview to check the content and transitions you have created so far. When you have finished designing your presentation, cick the Print button on the main window toobar to bring up the print preview diaog to preview and print it. 4

Main Window Reference Toobar The main window's toobar contains usefu buttons for frequenty occurring operations you wi be performing. The toobar tabs are used in the foowing ways: The Fie Tab Contains most options for oading, saving, and cosing your current project. It aso contains options for printing and for opening the recent fies ist. See: Menu reference for more information on each action. The Home Tab Contains severa of the New, Open, and Save buttons from the Fie tab, as we as buttons for: New a side with a defaut ayout or a preset ayout by opening the Preset Layouts diaog Opening the Preset Layouts diaog Adding a text box Adding graphics shapes Adding images/pictures Adding CipArt Adding audio Adding video Transition: Express Points Presentation Software aows you to set transition effects and their duration Sideshow: Express Points Presentation Software aows users to create sideshow presentations. When the sideshow is started, the program wi enter fu screen mode. Opening the Print Preview diaog Opening the Genera Options diaog The Edit Tab Contains buttons for interacting with objects and the cipboard, incuding: Cut, Copy, Paste Deete Undo and Redo 5

Bring to Front: bring a side object to the front of a group of stacked side objects. Bring Forward: move a side object up one pacement toward the front of the stacking order. Send Backward: send a side object one pacement toward the back of the stacking order. Send to Back: send a side object to the back of a group of stacked side objects. The View Tab Contains buttons to show or hide some panes and switch between the norma side view and the master page view: Side List: show or hide the Side Thumbnai List. Norma: switch to norma side view in Side Editor. Side Masters: switch to master page view in Side Editor. Attributes: show or hide the attributes pane. Ruer: show or hide ruers in the side editor. Notes: show or hide the text edit pane of side notes. The Suite Tab Contains buttons to insta and aunch other recommended NCH software products: BotPDF Printer: It makes creating PDF fies easy. CickCharts: Create a visua representation of a process, organization, mind map or other diagrams and sequences. PhotoStage: Share your favorite photos with famiy and friends in an interesting way. Create a video sideshow from photos fast with this easy-to-use program. VideoPad: It is a fu featured, easy-to-use video editing appication which ets you edit video fies (or create professiona videos) on your computer fast. WavePad: It's a must-have for anyone who needs to do anything serious with audio (e.g. trimming or processing recordings). ExpressAccounts: It is a fu accounting package to track a income and expenses, generate financia statements and assist in preparing tax returns. The Side Thumbnai List The ist is ocated directy beneath the toobar, on the eft-hand side. It shows a sides in your presentation for the type of side view seected, and aows you to add, deete and hide sides from the right-cick menu. Seect a side to dispay it in the side editor by cicking it, and rearrange sides by dragging them to new positions in the side pane. You can change the type of side view by seecting "Norma" or "Master Page" from the drop menu at the top of the pane. 6

The Side Editor This is the main window area directy beneath the toobar, in the midde, where you edit and refine the current side of the presentation. This editor is where text, graphics shapes, images and audio objects wi be added to your presentation, which you can position, resize, rotate and change ayer order to achieve your desired ook. The Attributes Severa types of panes wi appear to the right of the side editor. These panes contain many options for interacting with specific eements of your project, such as the: Fi Properties pane. Line Properties pane. Coor Schemes pane. The Side Notes Editor This is the main window area directy beneath the side editor, on the bottom, where you can add and edit notes for the current side of the presentation. The notes can give you some reminder when you present your sides to your audience if you have mutipe dispay devices. 7

Menu Reference The menus are hidden from the main interface by defaut when you insta Express Points Presentation Software. To show the menus, cick the sma arrow to the eft of the Hep icon in the upper right corner of the interface. Fie Menu New (Ctr + N) Creates a new Express Points Presentation Software project 8 Open (Ctr + O) Loads an existing Express Points Presentation Software project Save (Ctr + S) Saves your Express Points Presentation Software project Note: Express Points Presentation Software wi automaticay save your project to a temporary fie every 100 seconds to et you recover it in abnorma cases. Save As (Ctr + Shift + S) Saves your Express Points Presentation Software project as a new fie Cose Coses the current presentation project. Page Setup Opens the Page Setup diaog to set the page size and orientation of a sides in the presentation. Sideshow (F5) Enter fu screen to show the presentation from the first side that is not hidden. Export to Video... Opens the Video Output Setup diaog, to seect the destination device and format and export your Express Points Presentation Software project to a video fie. You can aso upoad the video onto popuar media websites ike YouTube, Facebook and Fickr. There is a hep page for every destination type (access them by pressing the Hep button or foowing any "What's this?" ink). Export to PDF... Opens the Preview for Exporting PDF diaog, to export your Express Points Presentation Software project to a PDF fie specified by you. Print (Ctr + P) Opens the Print Preview diaog, to print your Express Points Presentation Software project Recent Fies A ist of your recenty opened and saved Express Points Presentation Software projects Exit (At+F4)

Coses the program Object Menu Add Text Adds a text object to the current side. Add Shape Adds a graphics shape(rectange, eipse, trapezoid, paraeogram, ine or curve) to the current side. Add Image... Adds an Image object from a disk fie to the current side. Add CipArt... Adds an Image object from NCH's CipArt Library onine to the current side. Add Audio... Aows you to add audio from disk fie to the current side. You aso can record a narration to add it to the current side. Add Video... Aows you to add video from disk fie to the current side. Bring to Front Bring a side object to the front of a group of stacked side objects. Bring Forward Move a side object up one pacement to the front in the stacking order. Side: The current side wi be cut if no objects are seected and the number of sides is more than one. Copy (Ctr + C) Copies the seected object to the cipboard Object: The seected object wi be copied to the cipboard if an object is seected. Side: The current side wi be copied to the cipboard if no objects are seected. Paste (Ctr + V) Pastes information from the cipboard: Object: Text, graphics shape, image, audio, or video, incuding settings for those objects Side: Pasting the whoe side. If the side is a norma side, its tempate is possibe to be added into the presentation project. Deete (Deete) Deetes the seected item(object or side) Object: The seected object wi be removed if an object is seected. Side: The current side wi be removed if no objects are seected and the number of sides is more than one. 10

Undo (Ctr + Z) Erases the ast change done to the document reverting it to an oder state. Redo (Ctr + Y) Redo the ast undo action. Options Menu Options... Opens the program options. Fickr Authorization This desktop appication can make it easy and convenient to upoad your photos or videos to Fickr. However, it needs your permission before you use it. If you cick the Authorize... button, it wi connect to internet and open the authorizing webpage of Fickr. After you have finished the authorization, pease cick the Ready button to te the appication that the process of authorization is finished. And then you can upoad your photos or videos to Fickr. Fickr Authorization If this appication has the authorization of a Fickr's user, the Authorize... button wi be disabed and the Remove Authorization button wi be enabed so that you can deete the authorization. Otherwise, you cick the Authorize... button to authorize this appication for upoading photos or videos to Fickr. 13

Concepts - Objects Objects are components of a side incuding text, graphics shapes, images, audio and video. You can pace any object onto a side in a presentation project from the main window. Cick the object if it is not active. You can te that a text object is active when you see 8 sma binding boxes around the edges of the text box. Objects can be positioned, resized and rotated. Aso you can set fi coor and ine stye of some objects. Furthermore, you can change their ayer order. You can use your mouse to right-cick inside the project viewer to present severa options for objects. These options wi have simiar behavior to the Cut, Copy, Paste, and Deete buttons found in the edit menu. See: Menu reference Graphics Shapes A shape is a geometric object such as a circe, rectange, ine or curve. Text and corresponding stying information can aso be attached to a shape. To add shape to your side, cick the Add Shape button and seect the shape type on the main window t. Next, add the shape on your side by cicking and dragging a box; when you reease the mouse your shape wi appear. You can format the shape using the property pane on the right. Aso, you can add text by seecting Edit Text from the right-cick menu. A rich text editor wi open. See: Text Edit Diaog Image Each image object contains a singe image. If the originay oaded image contains an apha channe, the image object wi appear transparent. To add images to your side, cick the Add Image button on the toobar. The Seect Image window wi open. Navigate to and seect the photo that you woud ike to add, then cick the Open button. You can seect, move, rotate, and resize your image object by dragging it, or change other properties using the right panes. You can aso cick the Add CipArt button on the toobar to add an image from NCH's cipart ibrary onine. Audio 16

Audio objects aow you to insert audio fies and narration into your sides. Audio can be payed back during editing and is payed during sideshows. To add audio to your side, cick the Add Audio button on the toobar. Cicking the button wi open the Audio from fie diaog, or you can seect to insert a fie or record narration from the button's menu. Seecting Audio from fie wi open a fie browser where you can seect an audio fie from your media. Seection Record Audio wi open a recording window where you can record your narration (See: Audio Record Diaog). You can pay an audio object by right-cicking it when it is seected. See: Audio Pay Diaog Video Video objects aow you to insert video fies into your sides. Video can be payed back during editing and is payed during sideshows. To add video to your side, cick the Add Video button on the toobar. You can pay a video object by right-cicking it when it is seected. 17

Concepts - Side A side is a page that consists of objects. However, it is different from norma pages because it is based on a tempate and a ayout so that users can easiy make sides' stye consistent. Aso, Sides are ony source of sideshow. 18

Concepts - Side master Side masters are specia sides that are tempates of namey sides. It consists of two categories of objects: pacehoders and non-pacehoders. Pacehoder Pacehoders can provide format information, ike position, size, coor and so on, for objects, such as text, pictures, audio, and more. The format settings of pacehoders are possiby inherited by sides, but their contents are not inherited. If a pacehoder is with no-ine stye and empty, it has a dotted border. Different preset ayouts provide different pacehoders. Non-pacehoder Non-pacehoders are norma objects on side master or ayout. They wi be regarded as background graphics of their derived sides, so they are read-ony and not aowed to seect on the sides. However, you can pay audio and video objects during sideshow. 19

Concepts - Transition A side transition is a motion effect which occurs from the previous side to the current one during a presentation show. 20

Diaogs - Preset Layouts This diaog defines various preset ayouts to expedite presentation creation. A preset ayout provides a higher-eve description of the content type and positioning of pacehoders to an arrangement of content on a side. Each preset ayout except Bank contains more than one pacehoder, each with a specific content type. Express Points Presentation Software provides the foowing preset ayouts: Tite Side Tite and Text Bank Tite and 2-Coumn Text Tite, Text and Media Tite, Text and Content Tite, Media and Text Tite, Content and Text Tite and Content Tite Ony Content Ony Section Header Tite and 4 Content Tite, Content and 2 Content Tite and Content over Text Tite and Content with Caption Tite and Picture with Caption Tite and 2 Content Tite, 2 Content and Content Tite, 2 Content and Text Tite and 2 Content over Text Comparison Tite, Text and 2 Content Tite and Text over Content If the preset ayout is set for a new side, a new side wi be added when you cick a preset ayout. If the preset ayout is set for aready created side(s), the ayout wi be appied to the seected sides when you cick a preset ayout. 21

Diaogs - Rich Text Editor Rich Text Editor Rich Text Editor provides powerfu text editing capabiity based on standard rich text contro. When you doube-cick a text object or right-cick popup menu, it wi pop up to aow you to modify the seected text object on your side. Buets This pu down wi dispay a seection of buets that can be appied to the seected text object. Increase Indent It aows you to increase the eft indent eve of the whoe paragraph seected currenty. In the tite, ony one indent eve can be set; in the text body, you can set nine indent eves. Decrease Indent It aows you to decrease the eft indent eve of the whoe paragraph seected currenty. In the tite, ony one indent eve can be set; in the text body, you can set nine indent eves. Paragraph Spacing You can set paragraph spacing after the seected paragraphs. Left Aignment The text is aigned aong the eft margin in horizonta direction if you seect this option. Center Aignment The text is aigned to neither the eft nor right margin; there is an even gap on each side of each ine in horizonta direction if you seect this option. Right Aignment The text is aigned aong the right margin in horizonta direction if you seect this option. Font This pu down wi dispay a seection of fonts current avaiabe on your system that can be appied to the seected text object. Font Size You set font size in points that can be appied to the seected whoe text object. 22

Bod, Itaic and Underine Cicking these buttons wi appy the typica bod, itaic and underine font styes to the seected text object. Text coor Cicking the coored box on the right wi open a diaog where you can seect the coor for the text. Edit text fied You can type text into this fied in a simiar manner to how you woud type into any text editing program. You can seect, cut, copy, and paste using standard short-cut keys. Aso, you can undo and redo using standard short-cut keys. The text that is entered here wi be dispayed within the draggabe borders of the text object on your side. Pease note: if any of the text properties is changed in the rich text editor, the seected text object on your side wi not foow the format settings in the side master any more. 23

Diaogs - Coor Scheme Diaog When you want to custom a coor scheme ike cicking Custom Coor Scheme..., the coor scheme diaog wi open. In this diaog, you can set tweve scheme coors which are referred to as a coor scheme. A coor scheme consists of two dark coors, two ight coors, six accent coors and a coor for each of a hyperink and foowed hyperink. Dark text/background coor 1 Set and represent the first dark coor. Light text/background coor 1 Set and represent the first ight coor. Dark text/background coor 2 Set and represent the second dark coor. Light text/background coor 2 Set and represent the second ight coor. Accent 1 Set and represent the accent 1 coor. Accent 2 Set and represent the accent 2 coor. Accent 3 Set and represent the accent 3 coor. Accent 4 Set and represent the accent 4 coor. Accent 5 Set and represent the accent 5 coor. Accent 6 Set and represent the accent 6 coor. Diaogs - Position and Size Diaog This diaog is used to show and set the vaues of position, size, rotation and other parameters of the seected object. Athough you can use mouse-dragging to change the position, size and rotation, it aows you to do in a precise way. Position This determines the position of the object reative to the top-eft of the side. Size It gives the current dimension of the object in oca unit. Origina size It shows the origina width and height of the object in oca. This is ony for images. If it is vaid, you can cick Reset button to reset current size of the object to the origina one. Rotation It determines the rotation ange of the object in degrees. Lock aspect ratio It determines whether the aspect ratio of the object is ocked. If this option is checked, the aspect ratio wi be kept when you resize the object using corner-dragging handes. In addition, you can keep its aspect ratio when you hod SHIFT key during resizing the object even if this option is not checked. However, if you use midde-dragging handes to resize the object, this option does not take effect. 26

Diaogs - Add Narration Diaog When you seect Record Narration from the Add Audio button on the toobar, the Insert Narration diaog wi open. Once you are finished recording your narration, cick the Add button to add it to the current side. Capture from Seect the microphone you're using from the drop menu. MP3 Settings Cick this button to configure settings for the recording. Narrations are recorded as MP3 fies. Recording Contros Cick the red record button to begin recording. Cick the stop button when you are finished. Pay back the recording by cicking the pay button. The pause button wi pause both a recording or payback. 27

Diaogs - Sound Pay Diaog This diaog is a sma pop up window that aows you to pay your audio when you edit or show your side. It wi open when you seect an audio object and seect Pay Audio from the right-cick menu in the side editor. In sideshow mode, this diaog can be opened by cicking the audio object. 28

Diaogs - Transition Duration Diaog This diaog aows the user to set duration time of the transition effect and how to advance to next side. Transition Type You can choose a transition type from more than 20 transitions. This option is not showed when you cick a specific transition to open this diaog. Duration This determines the transition time in second. Advance Side by Mouse Cick This determines whether mouse cick is aowed to advance sides. Advance Side Automaticay after They specify whether auto-advance occurs and how ong sideshow wi auotmaticay advance to next side in seconds after the transition effect finished. Appy Appy the transition with the duration to current seected sides. 29

Diaogs - Reset Unsupported Transition Diaog Some transitions are not supported on some systems so that they wi be ignored during sideshow. This diaog wi pop up before sideshow if some transitions used in the presentation are not supported. You can make a choice whether they are reset to another supported transition. Unsupported transition ist Show what unsupported transitions are used in the current presentation and what sides use them. Reset them as Aow you to specify whether the unsupported transitions are reset to another supported transition. Duration This determines the transition time in second. 30

Diaogs - Page Setup A presentation can have ony one page size and orientation (either andscape or portrait). The Page Setup diaog aows you to change the page size and orientation of a sides in the presentation. Side Size You can seect a popuar side size or set a custom side size. Side Width It presents the width of the side. You can aso change it. Side Height It presents the height of the side. You can aso change it. Side Orientation You can change a the sides in your presentation to orientation you want. Switching orientation wi swap the width and height of the sides. 31

Diaogs - Print/Export Preview The print preview diaog shows what your fina project shoud ook ike. Open the Print Preview diaog by cicking Print from the Home tab toobar, or seect Print from the Fie tab menu. Print Preview or Preview for Exporting PDF The print preview diaog shows how your printout wi ook. You can use the page buttons, which incude Go to the first side, Go to the previous side, Go to the next side and Go to the ast side to go to any side to preview it. Ouput Properties This is the information dispayed in the sidebar of the Print Preview window. It incudes settings for printing. Ouput Layout You can get different printing ayouts using this option: sides or handouts: Sides: One side per page with origina size. Handouts: One, two, three, four, six, or nine sides on a page in horizonta or vertica order. In this way, your audience can use to foow aong as you give your presentation or keep for future reference. Note: The three-side handout incudes horizonta ines on the right or bottom of sides so that your audience can use them to take notes. 32 Paper Size Generay the size of the side is not the same as paper size, so the paper size abe aows you to seect a suitabe paper size to print your presentation documents. Paper Orientation You can this option decides the paper orientation in handout printing mode. For Sides mode, it is the same as side orientation. Paper Margin The horizonta margin is used to decide eft and right margins of the paper. The vertica margin is used to decide top and bottom margins of the paper. Note: These margins are ony for handout printing. Show Frame on Sides

When this is checked, a back frame wi be added when printing to show the border of sides. Print Hidden Side You can use this option to te Express Points Presentation Software whether to output hidden sides. Print... in the Print Preview diaog or Export... in the Preview for Exporting PDF diaog The Print... button in the Print Preview diaog wi aunch your system's print diaog, where you can seect the printer that you wi be printing to, and any additiona properties for this printing job. You can export the presentation to a PDF fie according to settings in the preview diaog using the Export... button in the Preview for Exporting PDF diaog. 33

Options - Genera The Options diaog aows the user to specify certain Express Points Presentation Software customization preferences. Show Wecome diaog when the appication starts This check box determines if the Wecome diaog to Express Points Presentation Software is shown each time you open the program. Units This determines the dispay measurement units used by a contros within Express Points Presentation Software. Target sideshow device : The Options diaog aows the user to specify which dispay device is used for sideshow when you have mutipe dispay devices. This determines which dispay device is used for sideshow. The defaut option is Auto, which means Express Points Presentation Software wi automaticay seect a dispay device based on the ratio of sides and dispay devices to get a matched dispay. 34

Panes - Fi Properties Fi Properties Pane This pane contains fi properties of the object that is currenty seected. It wi show the properties of the side background if there is no objects seected. No fi The seected object does not have fi effect if this fi type is set. It can make an object transparent or cooress. Soid fi To add coor and transparency to an object, cick this option and seect a coor by cicking the coor box to open the coor picker. Gradient fi To add a gradient fi to an object, seect the Gradient fi radio box. A gradient is a gradua progression of coors and shades, usuay from one coor to another coor, or from one shade to another shade of the same coor. You finish a gradient fi setting as foows: Seect the type of gradient that you want from the Gradient fi drop menu. Drag the arrow in the direction you want to set the gradient at in the Direction pane. Cick the Stops bar to add gradient stops. Stops are coor points for the gradient. The current stop coor highighted with a bue triange can be seected or deeted from the Stop Point contro, and the opacity sets the stop transparency. Aso you can move or remove gradient stops unti you have a stop for each coor that you want in your gradient fi. When you customize the gradient fi, you can see the effect on your seected object. 36

Panes - Coor Scheme Pane Coor Scheme Pane This pane contains a coection of coor schemes. Each coor schemes defines a set of coors incuding tweve coors. The tweve coors consist of six accent coors, two dark coors, two ight coors and a coor for each of a hyperink and foowed hyperink. Note: It is ony for master sides. 39

Sideshow - Sideshow Sideshow presents your sides to audience with fu screen mode. You can mark on sides using pen and highighter during the sideshow. If you have two dispay devices (one monitor and one projector), Express Points Presentation Software aso show presenter window to give you more information(e.g. current time, eapsed time and what is next side). You can use right-cick popup menu to turn over between sides on the screen for audience. There are more contros on the presenter window. In addition, you use keyboard to do frequent operations. Side turnover Next side: You can go to next side using the foowing ways: Right-cick popup menu Next on the screen for audience; Cick button Next side on the presenter window; Hit any key: space, Page Down, Arrow Down, Arrow Right. Previous side: You can go to previous side using the foowing ways: Right-cick popup menu Previous on the screen for audience; Cick button Previous side on the presenter window; Hit any key: Page Up, Arrow Up, Arrow Left. First side: You can go to the first side using right-cick popup menu First side on the screen for audience or Home key. Last side: You can go to the ast side using right-cick popup menu Last side on the screen for audience or End key. Mark on sides: You can use pen or highighter to draw some marks on the current side to et your audience focus on some important contents on the side. The marks are kept during the sideshow, but they are automaticay ceared after you exit your sideshow. Right-cick popup menu Pointer Options on the screen for audience to seect the foowing pointer type and coor: Arrow : It is a defaut pointer that cannot draw marks on the side. Pen: It can draw thin ines on the side ike a norma pen. The pen coor is red by defaut. Highighter: It can highight some contents on the side ike a highighter. The defaut coor of the highighter is yeow. Pease note: There is no marks eft on the side if you seect ink coor of the highighter as white according to the highighting agorithm. Ink Coor: You can use it to seect a coor as the coor of your pen or highighter when the pointer is pen or highighter. Cear side marks: You can deete a ink marks on the current side during the sideshow if you want. 40

Exit sideshow: You can use the foowing ways to exit current sideshow if you want to end it. Right-cick popup menu End show on the screen for audience; Cick button Exit sideshow on the presenter window; Hit Esc key. Pease note: The first Esc wi just reset the current pointer to "Arrow" if the current pointer is not "Arrow". Pause/Resume timer button on the presenter window aows you to pause the timer if you want to have a break and to resume it. Exchange dispay button on the presenter window can exchange sideshow between dispay devices. 41

Screen References - Custom Resoution This diaog aows you to set up the resoution for your video during saving. To set a custom resoution, cick the Save button on the toobar and seect the Disc: Make Data Disc, Computer/Data, Portabe Device, Image Sequence, or Stereoscopic 3D options. From the Resoution drop menu, seect Custom. In the Custom Resoution diaog that opens, input the width and height in pixes and cick OK. 42

Screen References - DVD Bitrate Settings This diaog aows you to specify bitrate for your DVD video. To open this diaog, cick the Save icon in the toobar and seect the Disc save option and cick the Make DVD Movie option. Cick the Advanced button to open the DVD Bitrate Settings diaog. The defaut option is to cacuate the bitrate automaticay. To set the bitrate manuay, seect the manua option and adjust the video and audio bitrates. 45
