Summer School MANAGEMENT of Cultural and Artistic Events Modica (Italy), July 14-19 2014 Marzamemi Pachino (Italy), July 21-27 2014 Isfahan (Iran), October 8-12 2014 In the field of management and promotion of cultural heritage planning, organization and promotion of cultural and artistic events turns out to be a sector in constant development and plays a key role in the relationship between cultural institutions and users of cultural heritage. In order to create and offer products that are more engaging and innovative, it is need to acquire skills in terms of marketing, communication, management increasingly cutting-edge as well as a thorough knowledge of art history, museology and museum as well as on the techniques needed to take advantage of economic funds and sponsorships. In Italy, this interdisciplinarity is not yet present, and this is reflected in the exhibition choices do not always live up to expectations. There is therefore the need of professionalism complex, able to combine the knowledge of arts and humanities, the more managerial skills which enable a more targeted enhancement of cultural heritage, nationally and especially internationally. OBJECTIVES The aim of this Summer School is to provide the tools to design, plan, prepare and organize art events and exhibitions and workshops in order to train professionals capable of designing and planning an exhibition and also to coordinate the team responsible for this achievement. To achieve this end, the Summer School focuses primarily on the design in which participants have the opportunity to confront the reality of the industry and with the delicate dynamics of teamwork in order to develop a real exhibition. The course also provides an overview of the processes and techniques for the organization of cultural events. The course covers the theoretical aspects of design, planning, implementation and control of events with regard to project management techniques and will address the empirical study of several cases providing the necessary insights for understanding organizational processes of cultural events.
PROFESSIONAL PROFILE The professional reference is that of a manager of high culture and experience, who is able to take account of innovations and of the profound changes that the industry is experiencing. The professional course will be defined by the specific knowledge of the history of events and festivals and problems related to them, their organization and management, including also that of the staff, all achieved through the acquisition of computer skills. Will be able to identify locations and venues linked to the local identity, the reference area and choose the type of management more responsive to the situation and context- specific cultural events and programming from concept phase to the management (including through the use of funds Community requirements for that field) ; activities, these, all performed in compliance with the regulations in force in the industry. The proposed curriculum aims, finally, to the acquisition of techniques and skills that go beyond the specific training of the chosen role, will often exercise related professions, such as the organizer of cultural events and exhibitions, the euro designer, the head of museums and art galleries, the expert of communication and marketing in the cultural sector. In particular, it is the task of the cultural manager : translate into a concrete project ideas and information supplied by the developer of the event; arrange cultural initiatives and events suitable to the needs of the customer; evaluate the impact of the public; study strategies to draw the attention of the public; if necessary, intervene directly in the research and finding resources for the implementation of projects ; identify experts and organize working groups involved in the implementation of cultural events; convey to staff that work with the values and elements that define the social role of culture. This figure can be specialized as Exhibitions Manager which deals mainly to treat the design aspects of the exhibition. FEATURES The Manager must have a solid cultural and broad basic training and be equipped with the ability to integrate the humanistic knowledge and technical- managerial. Among the soft skills must have ability to analyze customer needs, planning and programming of the installation, cost evaluation, communication with public institutions and, if necessary, coordination and management of resources both human and financial. They should know, also, the principles of economy and culture, and determinants of cultural policies, the EU and national legislation that regulates the field of culture, as well as contract law, management and social security sector.
A feature of this profession is the flexibility required to model the skills and tools according to the specific objectives pursued by the organization in which he works and the context in which it develops its activities. All this combined with the ability to coordinate a team and manage human relationships with the client, the public and employees. DESIGN WORKSHOP The workshop project has the goal of developing a cultural project using all the skills acquired during the residential phase. Linters elaboration of the project is carried out in a group and is followed by a tutor. The importance of the workshop is essential inside the Summer School as it is the time they are put into practice all the new knowledge and you come into contact with real work situations. The design workshop will be held alongside the organization of the Festival del Cinema di Frontiera Marzamemi, overseeing the creation of an original performance art, part of the official program of the Festival. It also involves the participation of three students of the Summer thanks to three grants made available by the three municipalities patrons the Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO organized by ICCN to be held in Isfahan in Iran 8 to 12 October 2014. Participants Summer to come into contact with the experts involved in the creation of the Festival and will support the organization in the implementation of individual events included in the program. COMMUNICATION PLAN During the month of June, will be made 4 meetings for the presentation of the activities in the municipalities of Catania, Monreale, Modica, in the presence of the Statutory Auditors and the partners of the initiative, which will also have the function of press conferences. The Summer School will be promoted via a website created by WordPress and conveyed through information tools of the partners. It will also be included in all national platforms and international exchange of students, non-formal education and of cultural and artistic events. It will be made a Facebook profile page, Twitter profiles linked to, Youtube, Istagram, Pinterest and Slideshare to carry all educational and experiential content. All activities will be documented through photographs and video footage. It also plans to carry out a campaign promo / advertising of traditional mold, through the creation of flyers and posters that will be posted in places where activities will take place (Modica and Pachino). The final event will be streamed on the Internet. Contacts are under way with a web radio for the live broadcast of the activities. Any form of communication will present the logos of all the partners involved and the mention of any sponsors, be they financial purely technical. At the end of the activities will be produced a publication, that in addition to original essays written by the trainers, will contain their biographical notes, a description of the partner organizations and supported by promotional pages of any sponsor. CREDITS The Summer School releases 3 credits for each week of activity, recognized by the partner universities, which are found on the final certification and are calculated based on the actual duration of the individual modules or subjects, keeping in mind that the incidence of these have been studying and individual searches.
EXAMS The exam scheduled at the end of the training course is the discussion of a project individually or collectively developed in the course of training activities on one of the main topics of the syllabus. The exam allows the achievement of the following title: certificate of attendance for Management of Artistic and Cultural Events, issued by the NED and recognized by the University of Messina. RECIPIENTS The Summer School is addressed to: maximum of 30 participants who meet the following requirements: - Graduates of the old teaching system (pre-university reform della.a. 2001/2002) in Literature, History and Preservation of Cultural Heritage, Operators for Cultural Heritage, Architecture; - Graduates of the new system in all educational degrees in the class of Cultural Heritage, in Technologies for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, Conservation and restoration of historic and artistic history of the art and the like; and also to graduates in tourism for Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Territorial Economics, Communication and management in the markets of the art and culture; - Graduates in all other degree programs, subject to evaluation by the Scientific Committee; - Students who have earned an equal footing with foreign universities; - Professionals from the sectors involved; - Operators of tourism, culture, crafts and food and wine production. The registration fee is 200 (two hundred/00). Under the agreement with the Master of First Level at the University of Messina in expert in the management of the hotel facilities, travel agencies and tour operators for all students enrolled in the Master said the entry fee is 120,00 (one hundred and twenty / 00)
