In recent years modular synthesis has been experiencing a renaissance in popularity. Sonic Faction has heeded this call by unveiling Dope Matrix, the first virtual-modular system for Ableton Live. Dope Matrix brings the modular experience into a digital world by combining famous analog oscillators with custom made effects modules. Create your own patches to explore vast new dimensions of sound and design evolving textures for experimental sonic science. The instrument also includes a new Max for Live step sequencer that features a realtime matrix for hands-on control of your patch. Instantly access any oscillator or effects parameter with a touch of a button. Dope Matrix allows you to intuitively interface with your sounds like never before.

Installation YOU MUST HAVE ABLETON LIVE 9 Suite to use Dope Matrix. 1. Double click the.alp pack. 2. Click Install. Live will automatically install the instrument into your Library. What installs with Dope Matrix installer and where do I find it? 1. Presets: In Live 9 s browser, Dope Matrix content can be found in Packs under: Sonic Faction - Dope Matrix Use Live 9 s Sound browser to search for Dope Matrix presets which have been metatagged in their respective categories. 2. Max for Live: Dope Matrix.amxd file can be found here: In Live 9 s browser navigate to Max for Live > Max MIDI Effect > Sonic Faction - Dope Matrix. Or navigate to Dope Matrix in Packs and look in the Max for Live folder. 3. Clips: In Live 9 s browser navigate to Clips.
How to load presets: Dope Matrix includes over 100 high quality presets. To correctly change presets, simply click on the hot swap button on the instrument s enclosing rack and locate the instrument s preset sound folder. This will change the entire instrument and its effects chains.
Dope Matrix Operation: Loading the instrument: In Ableton Live, drag and drop Dope Matrix onto a new MIDI track. Dope Matrix Rack Dope Matrix allows you to blend up to four analog oscillators simultaneously: A-110, Plan B, Cwejman and Piston Honda. Each oscillator has it s own unique character and set of different waveforms. - Osc Selector: Choose a different type of Wave for each Oscillator. A-110, Plan B and Cwejman have Saws, Squares Triangles and Sines to choose from while Piston Honda has over 100 Wavetables. - Amp Attack: Control the attack time of the amplitude envelope. - Amp Release: Control the release time of the amplitude envelope - LFO Type: Change the type of LFO that is applied to the oscillator s pitch. - LFO Amount: Control the amount of LFO that is applied to the oscillator s pitch. - LFO Rate: Control the rate of the LFO on the oscillators pitch. To turn off sync, open the device up and manually switch the LFO Rate setting to Hz. - FM Mod Amt: Controls the amount of FM Modulation applied to the oscillator. - FM Mod Type: Changes the type of FM Modulation applied to the oscillator.
Accessing the Oscillators: Each Oscillator of The Clone can be accessed via the Device Chain: Click on any Chain and it will reveal the selected oscillator. Oscillators have been color coded to help you recognize which oscillator is currently selected.
Using the Effects Modules: Dope Matrix comes with 12 custom Effects Modules. In the Ableton browser, the Effects folder can be found here: Packs > Sonic Faction - Dope Matrix > Modules > Effects. Drag and Drop any of the effects modules onto and oscillator and start fiddling with the macro knobs. If you have Push or APC40, the knobs will automatically map for instant access.
