ARLENE DICKINSON Author, Entrepreneur, Television Personality, Venture Capitalist Renown for her headlining role on the CBC reality business show Dragon s Den, Arlene Dickinson is one of Canada s most successful independent marketing communications entrepreneurs. She first joined Venture Communications as a partner in 1988 and, a decade later, had became its sole owner and CEO. Since then, Dickinson s creative and strategic approach has transformed the company into a blue-chip client powerhouse. In 2012, she launched Arlene Dickinson Enterprises to identify and fund Canadian entrepreneurs, while investing in businesses like The Carbon Farmers and Balzac s Coffee Roasters. Dickinson s achievements have garnered her multiple awards and honours, including PROFIT and Chatelaine magazine s TOP 100 Women Business Owners, the Pinnacle Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, and Canada s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Hall of Fame. Ms. Dickinson shares with us her lessons learned on how we can continue to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in a large, diversified company.
LINDA HASENFRATZ Entrepreneur, Chief Executive Officer - Linamar Corporation As CEO of Guelph-based, multi-billion-dollar auto parts manufacturer Linamar Corporation, Linda Hasenfratz has spent the last 14 years building an outstanding reputation as entrepreneur and leader. Learning the company business from the inside out, Hasenfratz has successfully developed and implemented a dynamic growth strategy that has transitioned Linamar into a global competitor, with 48 manufacturing facilities and more than 19,500 employees operating throughout the world today. During her tenure, Hasenfratz has focused on cultivating a people culture, investing in employees and the broader community. In 2014, her efforts in the areas of leadership, job creation, community building and innovation earned Hasenfratz the Ernest & Young (EY) Entrepreneur of the Year award the first woman to hold this national title in the event s 21-year history. Ms. Hasenfratz will share with us insights on how we can take our organization to the next level, while effectively managing change along the way.
BENJAMIN ZANDER Esteemed Conductor, Faculty Emeritus of the New England Conservatory As one of the most celebrated conductors in the world, Benjamin Zander uses the metaphor of the orchestra coupled with his vast experience conducting, coaching and teaching musicians to help illustrate how we can overcome barriers in the corporate world. His highly-coveted speaking engagements take the audience on a journey that awakens a fresh sense of passion and creativity, and offers a startling new perspective on leadership. With his co-author and partner Rosamund Zander, the renowned conductor published the bestselling book The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life, which has since been translated into 15 languages.
