Photo by: Igor Sapina The Darebin Arts Development program supports artists by providing access to space, mentors and materials. Developments should be for a new artistic work that has performance at the heart of its creation. They can vary from script readings, physical work, exploration, rehearsals, showings, guidance and mentorships. Artists can apply for One of Two streams of development opportunities.
Stream One Creative Development at Northcote Town Hall or Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre Artists are given the opportunity to develop a new work within one of our venue studios or meeting rooms. Creative Development dates are subject to venue availability. City of Darebin will: Cover the cost of rental fees for a week long creative development. Provide a $700 stipend to put towards wages, materials or equipment to support the development. Artist / Arts Company will: Attend the creative development between 9am 5pm Mon Fri. Present a showing at the conclusion of the development (this can be post 5pm), where personal networks and City of Darebin staff can be invited. Provide relevant supplier details and invoice City of Darebin for the stipend. Present a budget of how the stipend is to be used throughout the development. Stream Two Producing mentorships This stream supports individual artists who are producing their own work. A mentorship might equip you with tools, knowledge and confidence to develop your professional careers. City of Darebin will: Negotiate with and cover the fee for a mentor throughout the lead up to a community arts event or season of work that has an outcome within the City of Darebin. Contract the Mentor for up to 4 x 1.5hour sessions. Artists can apply with a suggested mentor, or the City of Darebin will source and recommend a Mentor. At the conclusion of any development Artist s must provide: A written summary about the development. Images of the development, which the City of Darebin can use for marketing and reporting. Acknowledge the support of Darebin Arts in future collateral relating to the work. Key Dates Expressions of Interest Open: Tuesday 26 July. Expressions of Interest Close: Monday 22 August at 5pm. Development Times Producing Mentorships: September 2016 June 2017 Creative Developments: January 2017 June 2017 Successful applicants will be notified by Thursday 1 September 2016. Creative Development: What sort of space do you require and how do you intend to spend the stipend? Attach a stipend budget to the application. Producing Mentorship: What learning s do you wish to cover throughout your sessions?
4) Describe the artist/company background; include a list of personnel involved. 5) Who is the target audience you are creating the work for?
6) What is the intention for the future of this work? Provide presentation opportunities and a timeline. If you wish for this work to have a public outcome in the City of Darebin please list how and where it could sit within our programs.
