Contents 2 Standard Incentives Common energy-efficiency measures and retrofits with pre-determined incentives and estimated energy savings. Standard incentive projects do not require additional energy analysis or pre-qualification. Some of these incentives may have specific eligibility requirements. 14 Lighting Incentives All lighting projects must be pre-qualified for Energy Trust incentives before purchase and installation. 15 Custom Incentives Energy-efficiency equipment not included on the standard incentives list may be eligible for custom incentives. Custom incentives require an energy analysis or other technical assistance in the project design process, plus pre-qualification before purchase and installation. 16 Solar Incentives Energy Trust offers incentives for solar electric systems that produce electricity for use in your building. Specific eligibility requirements apply.

Energy Trust Existing Buildings incentives are available for qualifying energy-efficiency upgrades and retrofits to commercial, municipal, educational and institutional customers served by Energy Trust. To qualify, you must typically: Have a project site in Oregon served by and on a qualifying rate schedule for Portland General Electric or Pacific Power for electric-saving incentives. Have a project site in Oregon served by and on a qualifying rate schedule for NW Natural or Cascade Natural Gas for gas-saving incentives. Be improving an existing structure. Pay the public purpose charge; check your bill or contact Energy Trust if you have questions. Additional eligibility requirements may apply, depending on your project. Must install a motion sensor controlling permanently installed LED lighting in refrigerated reach-in case(s). Motion sensor must reduce the lighting load to 20% or less when it senses no activity for more than one minute. Measure is applicable to LED lighting retrofits or existing LED case lighting without a motion sensor installed. Incentive and energy savings values vary based on the controlled LED luminaire power (low or high): a low power luminaire is defined as one that uses < 4 W/ft of fixture (side bar); a high power luminaire is defined as one using 4 to 7.5 W/ft of fixture (mullion). 2 LED Case Lighting Requirements: Incentives paid are based on linear feet of installed LED fixture. For new case lighting, must install an LED lighting system in lieu of a fluorescent lighting system in a new reach-in or open refrigerated display case. LED lighting system must be a permanently installed luminaire. Fluorescent magnetic ballasts cannot be used to power the LED system. LED lamps that install into fluorescent lamp sockets are not eligible for incentives. LED lighting system Color Rendering Index, a quantitative assessment of the lighting system s ability to reproduce colors as viewed in natural light, must be equal to or greater than 75 (out of 100). LEDs must maintain no less than 70% of initial lumen output at 50,000 hours of operation. Manufacturer s warranty must be a minimum of three years and must include luminaires, mounting hardware, power supply and light source (i.e., LED). Lighting Incentives Lighting in commercial buildings can account for nearly 35 percent of electric use, which can have a big effect on your bottom line. Upgrading lighting with new energy-efficient light sources, fixtures and controls can save energy and improve lighting quality. Lighting improvements can even pay for themselves in energy savings in a few years. Energy Trust makes incentives available for energy-efficient lighting upgrades. Performance+ projects take an integrated approach to lighting design that makes greater use of controls and building resources. Custom Incentives Energy-efficient equipment not featured in this brochure may still be eligible for custom incentives. Projects eligible for custom incentives typically require additional energy analysis or other technical assistance in the project design process. All equipment purchases must be pre-qualified by Energy Trust. In addition, a post-installation verification may be required. Energy savings through a custom project typically include the following steps: 1. Analysis. A technical analysis is obtained on the potential energy-saving upgrades at the site and the analysis is provided to Energy Trust. 2. Review. Energy Trust technical staff reviews the analysis to ensure that savings estimates appear reasonable and potential upgrades meet cost-effectiveness criteria. 3. Offer. Energy Trust provides a cash incentive offer for qualifying upgrades to be paid upon completion. 4. Installation. Your contractor installs the upgrades and provides final paid invoices and other documentation that Energy Trust will review to verify that the project is complete. 5. Payment. Energy Trust reviews the documentation and, if it is complete and acceptable, provides your custom project incentive check. In some cases, a post-installation verification may be required. Solar Incentives Energy Trust offers incentives for solar electric systems that produce electricity for use in your building. Businesses must work with an approved Energy Trust solar trade ally contractor to qualify for incentives. The solar trade ally will handle all the paperwork, including submission of the Energy Trust application. 1. Assess. Request a preliminary solar assessment from one or more solar trade ally contractors to determine the size, savings, incentives and financial return for the project. 2. Commit. Select a trade ally to design and install the system. The contractor will submit an incentive application to Energy Trust before starting construction on the solar equipment. 3. Review. Energy Trust staff review the application and project design. 4. Offer. Energy Trust provides an incentive offer for qualified projects. 5. Installation. The solar trade ally installs the system and coordinates a post-installation verification by Energy Trust. 6. Payment. After successful verification, Energy Trust sends the incentive check.
