The Mausoleum has been visited by many world dignitaries. Continue to the National Museum of History and Ethnography. This Museum houses a varied collection of Ghanaian artifacts. Visit W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan Africanism, it is a Pan African Center for culture and it also has a research library and gallery full of manuscripts. Drive past the Independence Arch and Black Star Square Accra's ceremonial grounds. View from a distance the Christiansburg Castle, which is the official residence of the President of Ghana. Visit the Arts and Craft Center. You may try out your bargaining skills on the local vendors and "shop till you drop". May 28, 2014 Early morning departure for more exciting game viewing in Mole National Park which is Ghana s largest wildlife park for animal watching. Arrive and have lunch at Hans Cottage Botel (on own account) View the resident crocodile as you enjoy your meals. Audience with Central Region House of Chiefs. Visit the Kakum National Park. For the young at heart experience the Canopy Walkway suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Overnight: Coconut Grove Beach Resort/ Elmina Beach Resort B DAY 9: Sat. May 31, 2014 Depart after lunch to visit the Cape Coast Castle built by the Swedes in 1652 and was later taken over by the British, for a conducted tour. This Castle served as the seat of the former colonial administration of the then Gold Coast (Ghana's former name) till 1877 when it was relocated to Accra. The Castle also houses the West African Historical Museum. The guide will conduct you to the slave quarters and Palaver Hall where slaves were bargained for and sold. This famous UNESCO World Heritage site was visited by President Barack Obama, the first Black president of the United States of America, in July 2009. We will have a worship time as led by Senior Pastor Daryl Ward at the Castle. He is the current President of the Central Region House of Chiefs and Member of the Council of State to the President. Nana continues to be innovative and on the cutting edge of development with an emphasis on quality education for all young people. Visit Abeadze State Museum and NanaEwusi I Memorial. Enjoy the history of the great Fantse people which is carefully preserved. Nana Ewusi I, also known in later years as King Thomas Solomon, was the greatest king in Abeadze State and one of the greatest in Fantse land. He was a signatory to the Bond of 1844 and organizing executive of the Fantse Confederation which declared independence from Britain in 1872. King (Nana) Ewusi I, was and still is renowned for his policies of peace, religion and education for which he was honored in 1814 by the King of England. Jun, 03, 2014 Depart Accra for Akosombo in the Eastern Region. Depart Accra on an hour drive to the Shai Game Reserve, home to several animals such as antelopes, green monkeys and baboons. An expanse of savannah grassland and woodland. Have an excellent bird watching experience. Here Senegal Parrot, Swallow tailed Bee eater, Vieillot sbarbet, Piapiac and Red shouldered Cuckoo shrike can be seen. Explore the ancestral caves that were the ancient sanctuary for the modern Shai people.
