Dear Students, Please be nformed that the Government has launched the Skm Pnjaman Penddkan 1 Malaysa (SPP1M) effecte from 18 March 2013. The SPP1M works as top up fund to students (local and overseas unerstes) exstng fund or scholarshp, complementng the exstng PTPTN student loan scheme n Malaysa. The man dfference between the SPP1M and the PTPTN scheme s that the SPP1M s underwrtten (ssued) by commercal banks n Malaysa rather than a separate government department. The amount you can request as a top-up depends manly on the dfference of your actual tuton fee and the amount of any exstng loans or scholarshps. For example, the actual tuton fee s RM100,000 for three years and your PTPTN loan amount s RM70,000. So, the maxmum top up you can get s RM30,000 (RM100,000- RM70,000). Current partcpatng Fnancal Insttutons are Maybank and RHB. * only one loan approval per student s allowed at any one tme. There s an overall cap on the amount avalable to be dsbursed. A maxmum amount of RM150,000 for Post Graduate Degree n Medcne (Clncal, Avaton Medcne, Dentstry), Pharmacy and RM100,000 for Bachelor Degree n Scence, Technology (Computer Scence) and Professonal (Accountng and Taxaton, Law and Syarah Law, Engneerng and Archtecture) apples. 2) Elgblty: a) Open to all Malaysans b) Mnmum SPM / STPM / Foundaton / Matrculaton / Frst Degree OR whchever s applcable. c) Selected courses algned wth natonal demand d) Secured placement n approved hgher educaton nsttutons (For local unerstes, borrowers would need to refer to SETARA 11 lst under level 4 & 5 ) 3) Documents Requred: a) Applcaton Form, whch s avalable at all partcpatng Fnancal Insttutons. b) Academc results on SPM/STPM/Foundaton/Matrculaton/Frst Degree OR whchever s applcable (certfed true copy) c) Uncondtonal Letter of Offer for Admsson from Unerstty/College d) PTPTN Loan Offer Letter (for PTPTN borrower) e) Other relevant documentaton to confrm scholarshps / grants / loans f) Proof of fundng (for self fnance porton) g) Other relevant documents, as requred by Fnancal Insttuton 4) Fees As specfed by the Fnancal Insttutons. Ths may nclude Insurance Premums, Late Payment Charges, Correspondence Charges, Stamp Duty, etc. 5) Guarantor A maxmum of 2 personal guarantors (not necessarly famly members).the Guarantor must be free from bankruptcy, crmnal records and potentally other set crtera by the banks.
6) Dsbursement & Repayment a) Frst Dsbursement Fnancal Insttutons wll dsburse the loan drectly to the Unerstes/Unersty Colleges, and wll notfy the borrowers. b) Subsequent Dsbursement(s) Loan dsbursement wll be wthheld by FI f the borrower s CGPA s lower than 2.0/4.0 (or 3.0/5.0) for the semester. Dsbursements wll resume when the borrowers CGPA mproves to more than 2.0/4.0 (3.0/5.0). c) Repayment SPP1M requres you start payng the loan 6 months after the completon of studes. (even f the student s unemployed after 6 months) If the student dd not complete ther studes, the student wll have to repay the loan. If the student change to a dfferent programme or unersty after obtanng the loan, the student wll have to settle the ntal loan made frst, and apply for another loan under the same scheme. The maxmum loan repayment duraton s 15 years.
