The advert BFI Assistant Management Accountant 27,230 to 31,855 per annum The BFI is the lead body for film in the UK, with the ambition to create a flourishing film environment in which innovation, opportunity and creativity can thrive. The role of Assistant Management Accountant will provide fi nancial support to a range of directorates within the BFI (including Digital, Marketing, Communications & Audience and Finance & Resources). This support will involve preparing monthly management accounts with commentaries & variance analysis, the production of monthly forecasts, performance and trend analysis and assist in annual budgets. The ideal candidate will be a part-qualified accountant or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience in a similar role. Experience of working with and advising middle and senior level management is essential along with a proactive and customer focused approach. 3. The package All roles at the BFI are individually evaluated. Each pay scale comprises of 5 points, with a 4% increase between each point. Incremental advancement is performance based which is assessed each year. Each year a 4% increase can be gained until the maximum point of the salary scale is reached. The role Job Description Department: Finance Post: Assistant Management Accountant Grade: 2B Accountable to: Finance Manager Main Aims: The Assistant Management Accountant is expected to provide fi nancial services, including supporting budgeting, management accounting, performance and trend analysis and reporting of financial management information to operating units in Central Services [HR, Estates, IT, Finance and Directorate]. Support and liaison with non-financially trained managers and staff will form part of the post. Key Responsibilities: To provide a management information service for Central Services, preparing monthly management accounts with commentaries & variance analysis to agreed timetables To help monitor the level of financial understanding and budgetary control within Central Services departments Produce monthly forecasts and assist in annual budgets in Central Services. Preparation for loading onto the financial system to predetermined timetable Operate the budget-holder reporting system, ensuring that 9
cost allocation procedures operate properly to maintain full and effective budgetary control at all times Maintain financial control in the area of responsibility by performing regular reconciliation of Balance Sheet (including Prepayment and Accrual) accounts in a systematic manner. To cover a range of duties regarding implementation of fi nancial policy and procedures in the area of responsibility To assist with closure of the year-end accounts by performing specifi c year-end accounting tasks as directed by the Financial Controller To maintain a Fixed Asset system as related to Central Services Fixed Assets, identifying budgetary requirements for maintenance and replacement, asset verifi cation and control To assist the Financial Controller in production of the BFI annual accounts and reports packages as may be reasonably required To assist in the development of business plans To undertake policy research, design and development work as required To source and contract specialist advice/reports as and when necessary To work in partnership with managers, external agencies, trade union representatives etc. when taking part in standing committees, sub groups, and focus groups as required.
