Training & Safety Consultants (TASC) is a Registered Training Organisation (Provider No. 51865) TASC offers Recognised Prior Learning for the six competency units of the Certificate III in Occupational Health and Safety that form the WorkSafe Five-Day Training Course for Health and Safety Representatives. Definitions: Assessment The assessor will consider the evidence you have collected and judge whether you have achieved the level of competence that is required in the workplace. Evidence This relates to the information you are gathering and provides proof of competence. Evidence can be past or present performance, certificates and/or written reports from employers. A more comprehensive list is given in this document. Recognition of Prior Learning This recognises the competencies you have already achieved. RPL assesses your prior learning to determine the experience and knowledge gained and whether this meets the competency learning outcomes and the standards required to complete the qualification. Step 1: Please read this RPL document. Advise TASC of your intention to apply for RPL by email admin@tasc-perth.com.au or telephone (08) 9240 6250. An assessor will be allocated who will be able to answer anything you do not understand. Step 2: Your assessor will give you support while you are preparing your RPL evidence. Support includes: a) Explaining the RPL process b) Giving details and clarifying the units of competency c) Identifying evidence to demonstrate competency, for example: - Copies of qualifications and/or CV - Proof of professional development - Job description, duties, experience, performance appraisals - Memberships to associations, groups, volunteer work BSBOHS RPL Version 5 December 2008 2

d) Written third part reports as proof of competency, interview or verbal or written questions. Step 3: Gather your evidence into a portfolio. It helps to number each piece of evidence so you can cross-reference this on your application form. Forward your application form, supporting documentation and fee to Training & Safety Consultants, Unit 2, 15 Delawney Street, Balcatta WA 6021. Step 4: The assessor will consider the application form and evidence and contact you if further information is required. Once a decision has been made, you will receive a letter. All information will be kept on your file and you will be issued with a qualification or Statement of Attainment as appropriate. If you do not provide enough evidence you will be notified and given fourteen (14) days to gather the information. After it has been received your application will be reassessed. Once the assessment has been made and you have been notified, you have the right to appeal if you are not satisfied with the assessor s decision. If you wish to appeal please contact Training & Safety Consultants. RPL Costs: Fees are $150 plus GST per unit of competency.
