All Stars Information Our qualified and experienced staff are dedicated to looking after and caring for your child in a fun and interesting environment. Our Out of School club runs from the nursery is for children attend spin Primary School, situated just a short walk from nursery. The All Stars children have their own dedicated room, as well as the use of the nursery garden and the reception children are also able to join the activities in the pre-school children. The children are dropped off and collected by our walking bus and high visibility waistcoats are provided. A walking bus takes children to Aspin Primary School. It s only a short walk from Twinkles and all children wear a high-vis vest, so we are clearly visible on our way to and from nursery. At All Stars we have weekly planning that is based around the interest of the children. An adult led activity is planned every night and includes things like organised sports, baking and craft activities. We consult with the children about what they would like to do, to ensure that every day is enjoyable for them. We have strong links with the school, finding out what the children are currently learning about and adding it to our planning sheets, so we can further interests and offer support with homework. There are a wide range of resources available for the children to access independently, including small world, role play, construction, craft, games and jigsaws and a cosy sofa for reading and relaxing. We also go outside each evening and play all sorts of games such as cricket, football, tennis and rounders, making good use of the local park as well as the garden. We give feedback at the end of the day and encourage you to share information from home, we even have a display board so children can share news and pictures from home with their friends. To make children feel part of All Stars, they complete an All About Me form upon joining. This helps us to get to know your child and ensure they quickly settle and make friends.

Tea is served at 4pm and is prepared by the nursery chef, it s always something hot and homemade. It offers a variety of delicious and nutritious food and includes things such as homemade lasagne, toasted sandwiches, pizza, curry, soup, baked potatoes and lots of yummy puddings. There s often the opportunity to help make tea, especially when its pizza or sandwiches where children can add their own toppings and fillings; they can also help to make puddings, such as cheese cake, ice cream sundaes and fresh fruit kebabs with chocolate dipping sauce. Children can choose where they sit and all meal times are self-service, allowing children to select what they would like to eat from that day s selection. There is also a snack table for children to access, with fresh drinking water, milk and a choice of fruit, in case they get a bit peckish. If your child has any dietary requirements, don t forget to complete the relevant section on your Child Entry Record. There s a homework table available each evening, should children want to make a start on it before they get home and there s always someone on hand to help. Completing homework at All Stars, means there is always someone on hand to offer support, as well as all the resources they need to get it finished in plenty of time. No more rushing around every morning to complete that forgotten piece! We also run a holiday club and this is open to all children that are in full time education. The holiday club runs during all school holidays and is always very popular. Each week has a theme, carefully chosen so that it will appeal to children of all ages. There are always a wide range of activities on offer each day. There s lots of arts and crafts activities, so there s always lots of nice things to take home, cutting and sticking, collage, paper mache, junk modelling and painting to name but a few. We play lots of sports in the field next to the park, such as rounders, cricket, football and tennis. We also have a wide range of outdoor equipment and games such as target games, giant snakes and ladders, balancing boards, spinning plates, skipping ropes, hoola hoops, skittles and bowling.

On nice sunny days we like to go for a walk down by the river or into town to visit the market, the castle or the paddling pool at Bebra gardens when the weather is warm enough. We visit the local library, to borrow books and to research things for activities we may be doing and we often enjoy a picnic on the grass with the packed lunches we ve brought. Each week we organise something special and activities in the past have included football and tennis coaching, Paint a Pot day, bouncy castles, water fights, visits from Zoo Lab and the Emergency services. We had lots of fun when the fire engine came, they told us all about the special equipment that they used, let us try on the uniform it was very heavy and warm and we tried out the hose. It was amazing how high the water went! We have lots of trips out and have visited lots of local attractions, especially over the long summer holidays, where we ve visited Roundhay Park, The Royal Armouries and Tropical World in Leeds and the Valley Gardens in Harrogate and then of course there s all our indoor trips, for when the weather gets too cold and wet to be outside. There s the theatre, to see a show or the pantomime at Christmas or the cinema to see the latest release and bowling which is always very popular with children of all ages. We have lots of trips and outings, especially in the summer when the weathers fine. We had lots of fun on a trip to the Valley Gardens in Harrogate, the play park is fantastic! All Stars really is lots of fun, both as after school care and during holidays. We aim to not only provide excellent value childcare both term time term and during the school holidays, but offer the opportunity for your child to make friends and try a whole range of activities. More detailed information about Twinkles, our policies and day-to-day procedures are available on request. The policies are designed to give information for staff and parents on areas such as child protection, health and safety and equal opportunities. They also give details of procedures for such things as providing meals, snacks and drinks, and for the treatment of children who fall ill whilst at the out of school club.
