RGB-Master Pro LAN Network-compatible RGBW Controller - Seite 1 / 13
Introduction Thank you for purchasing to the Solarox RGB-Master Pro LAN. The Solarox RGB-Master Pro LAN is a highly-developed, network-compatible RGBW-Controller. In addition to the usual RGB channels an independent white channel is also available. It is controlled via the network (LAN). For this purpose a virtual COM port driver is installed on the PC for the communication with the controller. The RGB-Master Pro LAN can either be accessed by a Windows program or a terminal program (HyperTerminal or similar). The control commands and their syntax are listed in the appendix of this document. This that allows users almost all possible ways to develop their own applications. Please read the manual carefully before installing, so that you will enjoy the device for a long time. For the initial launch basic networking knowledge is required. You may need to consult an expert for advice. Specifications Supply voltage: 9V 12V DC Current consumption: about 300mA Output current: 4x 2A Temperature area: 0 C 50 C Dimensions: 80mms x 60mms Seite 2 / 13
Installation At first finish wiring before installing software! Connect the equipment according to draft mentioned below. Do not power on before all connections are made! Picture 1: Connections Make sure again that all connections are correct! The supply voltage of the device must not exceed 12V. Power on now. The device needs approx. 45 seconds to start up and then it is ready for use. Now you can proceed with the software installation. 4Do not install the software before, because during the installation procedure of the RGB- Master Pro LAN is searched and can not be found in the network. Make sure that the supply voltage of the RGB-Master Pro LAN is switched on and the network cabling is correct. Seite 3 / 13
Software installation The software installation takes place in several steps. First it is checked whether the RGB-Master Pro LAN is accessible in the network. Then the driver for the virtual COM port (Real Port) is installed. After that the installation of the application software can be continued. Driver Installation Copy and unpack the ZIP archive in a folder of your choice, e.g., My Documents. Navigate to the folder "RGB Master Pro LAN\Tools\". Now you see 2 folders: Device Discovery and Realport Driver. Hereupon you should see the following window: a Congratulations! The "Device Discovery tool" should report back something like that. The RGB-Master Pro LAN has been found. You can proceed with the driver installation. Note down the IP-Address and MAC-Address. First test to see whether the RGB-Master Pro LAN is found in the network. Navigate to the folder Device Discovery (under Tools ) and start tool 40002256_F.exe by double click. r The RGB-Master Pro LAN has not been found in the network! This may have several reasons: Is the RGB-Master Pro LAN switched on and is booted up for approx. 45sec? Is the network cable connected? Is it the correct cable? (The yellow LED directly on the connector must light up) Is the RGB-Master Pro LAN in the same network segment as the computer? Example: 192.168.x.y Valid for Computer and Controller is: x has to be equal, y has to be different! When delivered, an IP address assignment via DHCP is expected. Does your network support the automatic IP address allocation? If not, you will have to assign static IP addresses, both to your computer and to the RGB-Master Pro LAN. You may need to consult an expert. Seite 4 / 13
If everything is successful, you may proceed with the driver installation. Navigate to the folder Realport Driver and start the application Setup32.exe. 1.) The RGB-Master has been found. If it is not visible at this point, please read the notes on page 4 once again. 2.) The proposed default values should be changed in accordance with step 3. Seite 5 / 13
3.) Change the Radiobutton from IP to MAC. Continue setting the COM port to be used. It must not be occupied by the system. Note this down. Normally, you may also use the COM-port proposed by the system. 4.) It's done! The driver installation is finished. It may occur that Windows Vista shows a message saying that the driver is not be properly installed. Reject the offer to try it again with the same settings and confirm the correct installation. Application Installation A1.1 The installation of the application software is started by double clicking on "setup" in the folder "Application". It is absolutely mandatory that the driver installation is completed before the application is installed (see page 4)! F If the error (opposite image) is to seen, the "Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5" is not installed. In this case, follow the instructions given below to install the.net Framework. A1.2 The application software needs the Microsoft.NET Framework Version 3.5 or higher. The.NET Framework is a Microsoft operating system extension, which is also required by many other application programs. If it is not already installed on your system, please install it now. Double click on Dotnetfx35.exe. Alternatively a direct download from Microsoft is possible, too. The installation will take several minutes depending on the computer's speed. F After the successful installation, the icon to start the application (RGB Master Pro LAN) can be found on the desktop and in Start menu folder. Seite 7 / 13
Configuring the application software Start the application by double click on RGB-Master Pro LAN. After it is started successfully, you will see the following template: Normally the firmware version of connected the RGB-Master Pro LAN is displayed in the footer of window. But should this error message be seeing, the controller is not responsive or not connected: Please pay attention to the notes on page 4. Seite 8 / 13
By contrast, should the footer read "RGB Master Pro LAN not found ", the COM port still needs to be correctly. All communication with the controller is effected via the COM port. (see p. 6) The setting of the COM port is carried out via the tab "Settings" under "interface". There you may also choose your language (German or English). Seite 9 / 13
Using the application software RGBW Set the brightness of red, green blue and white by the track bars. This, by the way, is the only way to adjust the brightness of the white channel. By clicking on "OK", the values are sent to the controller. You can also use the Windows color selection dialog to mix the RGB colors. Simply click on the button "color". The buttons "ON" / "OFF" switch on or off the LEDs. HSV This is an alternative way to set the color channels (except for white). Set color, saturation and brightness by these track bars. By clicking on OK, the parameters are sent to the controller. Seite 10 / 13
Effects In the "RGB-Master Pro LAN effect programs are implemented which can run independently. The program selection and parameters are set here. The RGB-Master Pro LAN runs the selected program independently upon completion of the application software. Seite 11 / 13
Appendix Control commands The RGB-Master Pro LAN is controlled by normal ASCII command strings whose syntax is explained here. This is in the first place only interesting for developers who want to write custom applications or customize. At this point, we wish to point out again that the software provided by LED1.de is subject to GNU GPL license. No support will be provided by LED1.de! The source code for Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 is contained in the ZIP archive. Note: Parameter separation by space character -SET R G B W Set colors ("*" => internally set color stays unchanged) Example: SET 200 100 40 20 SET 100 * * * => changes only red to 100 SET ON / OFF => sets all ON or OFF Valid values: 0...255 -HSV Color(0-360) Saturation(0-100) Brightness(0-15) Sets color from HSV format (not W-channel) Example: HSV 180 100 15 => Cyan, 100% Sat., 100% Brightness -GET R G B W * returns actual values in RGBW-format Example: GET R => returns red value GET * => returns all color values -VER returns firmware version -VERN returns numeric value of the firmware -ECHO ON/OFF RS232-Echo on/off (Default: off) -PGM Program-n cycle-time in sec. (brightness 0-15) runs preprogrammed effects Program 1: rainbow-effect, cycle-time in seconds, (brightness), (saturation) Program 2: sweep-effect (warm colors), time, (brightness), (saturation) Program 3: Sweep-effect (cold colors), time, (brightness), (saturation) Program 4: random-effect (cycle time in 30ms-steps; 0=very fast) e.g.: PGM 1 20 15 (rainbow-effect with 20s cycle time, 100% brightness) Seite 12 / 13
