NAGARJUNA KARNATI NCS416/TEL500 Lab Lab Write-Up (8) [FreePBX SIP lab write-up]
Lab Overview For this lab to work on PBX, we changed the PC IP address from 10.107.6.68 to 10.107.6.69. Here we followed the steps learned in the first lab for setting up the Asterisks virtual machine. Now open installed PBX on PC, then it will ask for login with the user name and password. I logged in with the user name admin and password admin as shown below. When we logged in successfully it will prompt a new window as shown below. In the above when we click on the applications then it will prompt a new page to add an extension.
Click on the submit above to add SIP extension, then it will prompt a new page where it will ask to fill several option. We filled some of the options which are necessary for the system to add this extension successfully. This is shown below. In the above the user extension can be any three digit number, and display name will be the user name of the person whose extension is going to add. Then leave out the remaining options in the extension options and scroll down. When we scroll down it will ask to add device options as shown below.
In the above we can set secret, there I set it as ABCabc123. This will be useful if want to add up with the other extension. Also in the recording options above we can set voicemail password. Now if we ask for the email attachment then give the email address over there as shown.
Now scroll down for the remaining options and do not disturb them, let them be like that as shown below. Then click on submit.
When we click on submit option, it will take us back to the page where we added SIP extension. There click on apply. When it is done successfully on the right corner of the page it will display the added extension as shown below.
Now we followed the same steps as shown above and added different extensions as shown below. In the above we can see, I have added six extensions and myself named Nagarjuna. Now connect the soft phone on both the virtual machines, on which you are trying to set up a call as shown below. When we are done with setting up soft phones successfully on either side as shown in the above, Place a call from on extension to another.
When we accept the call, the call be connected successfully and both the soft phones had setup properly. This way we setup soft phones successfully using FreePBX and successfully called each other.
Work performed to complete lab Server configurations: Set the MAC address as: 0000FFFF0000 and 0000FFFF0001. Set the IP address to be: 10.107.6.69 Device configurations The hard phone account Account 15000 and 15001 IP address: 10.107.6.69 The password: passw0rd Here I set caller ID for soft phone as Nagarjuna followed by extension 15000 and for the Hard phone as Karnati followed by extension 15001 by configuring the sip files. Also we can insert our emails by configuring the voicemail.conf files. I gave different email id's for two caller ID's where the voice message will be delivered to mail ID. To listen to the voicemail on the hard phone first we have to dial *97 and then it will ask for the password. Here I set the password as 2222, upon entering the password it will give some instructions, like press 1 to listen to the new voice mail, press 3 to repeat the current voicemail, press six to listen to the previous voice messages. Names of any partners you may have worked with, and you did with him I had worked with Sivalasya Kasu. Responses to any questions that may have been asked in the lab exercise Why did we change our PC ip address from 10.107.6.68 to 10.107.6.69 Conclusion and final thoughts In this lab I worked on PBX. Before to this lab I just heard of it many times but I dint know anything about private branch exchange. Now I got some basic knowledge about it, and how it actually looks, more over what we can do using it. All in all this is another fabulous lab session, looking forward to explore more on PBX.
