DAY 4 22 NOV : KUMBAKONAM TANJORE RAMESHWARAM After an early breakfast, depart for Rameshwaram. En-route, visit :- Tanjore Big Temple On arrival in Rameshwaram, proceed to the hotel for check in. After freshening up, proceed to visit :- Ramanathaswamy Temple It was built in 12 th century by various rulers down the line. It is also said that the original lingam inside the temple was actually hand made by Lord Rama to remove Brahma Dosham after he came back victorious after the Lanka war. Overnight in Rameshwaram. DAY 5 23 NOV : RAMESHWARAM THIRUCHANDUR KANYAKUMARI After an early breakfast, check out and depart for Kanyakumari. En-route, stop in Thiruchandur to visit:- Murugan Temple On arrival in Kanyakumari, proceed to the hotel for check in. Later in the afternoon, proceed to visit :- Vivekananada Rock Memorial Towards the end of 1892, after three years of wandering across the length and breadth of India, a young monk found himself at Kanyakumari, the southernmost point of the country. To quell the questions raging in his mind, he leapt into the sea and swam across shark-infested waters to reach a holy rock in mid-sea the very last bit of Indian land. On the rock, he meditated, taking in the whole of India as it were, from that vantage point.
Thiruvalluvar Statue The statue has a height of 95 feet (29 m) and stands upon a 38 foot (11.5 m) pedestal that represents the 38 chapters of "virtue" in the Thirukkural. The statue standing on the pedestal represents "wealth" and "pleasures", signifying that wealth and love be earned and enjoyed on the foundation of solid virtue. The combined height of the statue and pedestal is 133 feet (40.5 m), denoting the 133 chapters in the Thirukkural. It has a total weight of 7000 tons. The statue, with its slight bend around the waist is reminiscent of a dancing pose of the ancient Indian deities like Nataraja. Bhagavathy Amman Temple In the evening, proceed to the Sunset Point to watch the sunset. Overnight in Kanyakumari. DAY 6 24 NOV : KANYAKUMARI MADURAI Early morning, proceed to watch the sunrise. After breakfast at the hotel, check out and depart for Madurai. On arrival, proceed to visit :- Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple It is one of the Arupadaiveedu; Palamuthircholai Murugan temple one of the Aarupadai Veedu, Alagar Kovil one among the 108 divyadesams sanctified by the hymns of Azhwars sung in praise of the Vishnu enshrined in this temple. Palamuthircholai Murugan Temple Alagar Kovil Proceed to the hotel for check in. In the evening, visit:- Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple Thirugnanasambandar the Hindu Saint has mentioned the temple in his songs which go back to early 7th century. The Lord has been described as Alavai Iraivan in his songs. The temple was restored to its pristine glory in the late 14th century when the Hindu Kings came back to power in Madurai.This can also be termed as a new beginning of a new era in the history of the temple, when it was almost rebuilt. The King Thirumalai Naicker played an important role in the construction of the new form of the temple according to records. Overnight in Madurai.
DAY 7 25 NOV : MADURAI PALANI TRICHY Check out and depart for Trichy via Palani. En-route, stop to visit:- Palani Murugan Temple Continue the drive to Trichy. On arrival, proceed to visit :- Uchipillaiyar Koil There are two rock cut temples in the fort, one in the lower part of the fort called Lower Cave temple and other in the complex outside the Thayumanswamny on the way up to Uchi Pillayar Kovil, called the Upper Cave temple. An archaeological study in 2010 revealed that the layout of the rockcut caves in the temple is similar to that of other rock-cut temples such as the Pundarikakshan Perumal Temple at Thiruvellarai and Pechipalai cave temple. The unfinished caves in the temple, along with the lower cave temples in Thiruvellarari and Tiruparankunram, each have a shrine for Shiva in the east and Vishnu in the west, separated by a central bay between them. The study also revealed that the Lower Cave temple along with Kudumiyan Malai temple exhibited unique form of pillars, which are otherwise not seen in other temples in Tamil Nadu.
