Dear customer, Our autumn programme got off to an early start on 20 August with the issue of four stamps to mark 50 years of television in Norway, thus adding some well-known and much-loved television faces to Norway s stamp gallery. Jørn Olaf Jøntvedt of Making Waves was the designer of these stamps. Our next issue date is 15 September and the first organisation to celebrate its anniversary on a stamp is the norwegian Seafarers Union. This stamp was designed by Øystein Haugseth of Neue Design. The Norwegian Press Association and the Norwegian Media Businesses Association celebrate their centenaries this year. Both organisations are strong exponents of freedom of speech in the press. This can clearly be seen from the stamp designed by Geir Henriksen of Blæst Design. This year sees the 250 th anniversary of the founding of the Royal norwegian Society of Science and Letters and the centenary of the Norwegian university of Technology and Science. Two stamps have been designed and engraved by Arild Yttri and martin Mörck to commemorate these research and education anniversaries. On the right, Dynabeads as small polymer beads from 0.001 to 0.1 mm in diameter. Dynabeads have a number of industrial and medical areas of application and their industrial manufacture is based on an invention by Professor John Ugelstad and colleagues at NTH (NTNU) and SINTEF. NK 1768 The Royal Norwegian Society of Science and Letters is Norway s oldest scientific society and the only one with the right to call itself Royal. The stamp shows the Society s building at Kalvskinnet in Trondheim and the Society s main seal. The signature on the right is that of Bishop Gunnerus, one of the founders. This year s race went between the cities of Antwerp, Aalborg, Kristiansand and Hartlepool. Norway Post marked the occasion with the issue of three pre-franked postcards featuring Norway s three magnificent full-riggers. The postcards went on sale on 29 July, Kristiansand s first day as host. The three cards cost NOK 60 per set. International postage is included in the price.
