KZO Video Suite KZO Innovations provides an Enterprise class video platform solution to Government, Commercial, Non-profit and Education markets. The KZO Video Suite is a web based application that can be hosted on KZO servers and licensed as Software as a Service, or installed on Customer servers. KZO Video Suite is an online video environment that organizations deploy to host and manage video content, stream those videos online or to mobile devices, and record new video content. In many cases, the Video Suite is licensed to support the training needs of an organization. Most Learning Management Systems do not have video capabilities of their own, which necessitates a video platform plug-in to easily create, manage, update and deliver video within the LMS application. Used frequently for training, corporate communication and marketing, KZO Video Suite is the only end-to-end on-demand video platform that serves up mobile-ready video through any combination of existing portals simultaneously, allowing KZO customers to consolidate ondemand video hosting and delivery tools to save money and time. A unique online video player with display areas for synchronized slides, time-stamped user comments and Chapters for playlist navigation makes the KZO Video Suite an ideal solution for elearning when any type of video or recorded content is used. 1

Basic Functions of KZO Video Suite The core capabilities of KZO Video Suite are fully accessible to any Enterprise KZO Customer, both as a stand-alone video application or when used in conjunction with an LMS. Some of these features are: Online & Mobile Video Delivery Flash and HTML5 Delivery Interface, Widescreen and 4:3 Video Window Options, Multi-Bit Rate Streaming, Play/Pause Controls, Closed Captioning Display, Video Timeline Counter, Click-responsive Navigation Bar Video Capture Browser-Based Video Recording, Voice-Over Desktop Screen Capture, Real-Time Chaptering and Content Indexing, Real-Time Server Based Recording, Live Streaming Video Capabilities Build Segmented Presentations Video Upload Wizard for Existing Files, Slide & Chapter Timing GUI, Drag & Drop Playlist Manager, Chapter Trimming Tool Analytics & Reporting Video Hits/Visits, Viewer Location, Duration, Browser and OS Versions, Online Metrics Dashboard, Export Reports in.csv Video Destination & Distribution Unique Share URL Generated for Every Video, Embed Code Optimized for LMS, Portals, Webpages Public, Registration, Username Restricted Viewing, Platform Internationalization Collaboration, Sharing & Social Share URL & Embed Codes for Viewers, Share to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., Synchronous & Asynchronous Collaboration, Platform/ Content RSS Subscriptions 2

How Can KZO Video Suite Feed Video to an LMS? You Have Options. We understand that full systems integration is not always feasible (or even necessary). That s why KZO Video Suite has a variety of features that allow any user to deliver video to a Learning Management System, ranging from out-of-the-box options that require zero IT assistance to fully integrated data sharing through our public, SOAP-based API. Level 1: Out-of-the-Box Share Links and Embeddable iframes Level 2: SCORM and AICC Compliant Wrappers Level 3: User Authentication with the LMS Level 4: Custom API Integration for Completion Metrics Level 1: Share Hosted KZO Videos Using Out-of-the-Box Options Users with Administrative permission can change the look and feel of the KZO Video Suite s default logos, color schemes and nomenclature to match an existing LMS or portal design. When videos are uploaded or created on the KZO platform, a unique sharing URL is generated for the start of a playlist as well as each video file. Share Links can be copied by any user for distribution to the LMS, corporate portal, or email distribution. Embed code is also generated automatically, providing an iframe that can be used to embed KZO s streaming video player into any webpage, with or without optional display windows. Both the Share Link and the iframe reference a unique KZO video ID. 3

Level 2: SCORM and AICC Compliant Wrappers KZO Video Suite has an optional SCORM plug-in that can be enabled on any Customer platform. The plug-in enables a UI in which content owners can download a SCORM package in the form of a zip file. This package can be uploaded to a Learning Management System, encasing the KZO video player in a SCORM compliant wrapper that communicates with the LMS using JavaScript standards. As with Level 1 options, playlists must be marked for Public Viewing in order to circumvent an additional log in screen. The SCORM wrapper references the unique sharing URL for a playlist or video. When launched, the link will direct to the KZO Video Suite, launching the video in a new browser window and streaming in the KZO video player from KZO servers (or the Customer server if installed on-premise). This allows content owners to dynamically update the presentation on their KZO administrative panel at any time, without requiring a re-export of the SCORM file or re-upload of the file to the LMS. 4

Level 3: Username Authentication or Single Sign On with LMS KZO provides many different ways for enterprises to use an external source to authenticate users with their KZO video platform. This means that KZO videos can be accessed by viewers securely (videos marked for Restricted Viewing, not Public Viewing). If a user is logged into the LMS and clicks a KZO Share Link or sees a video player embedded on the page, the user will be able to enter the same username and password they already use for other enterprise systems without generating a new username for the KZO application. Single Sign On (SSO) is possible if the Customer has already deployed a SSO framework and protocol, such as SAML2.0. Single Sign On allows your users to log into your Learning Management System, then seamlessly access KZO content without having to re-enter corporate credentials. When KZO is aware of a viewer s user credentials, the platform is able to track extremely detailed viewing metrics, including exactly how many seconds of a video each user has viewed or skipped over. These metrics can be accessed on the KZO administrator panel at any time and exported in.csv format for reporting. In other words, the Customer will be able to track detailed viewing metrics per user, but viewing data will not be automatically passed to the Learning Management System and must be exported manually for sharing with the LMS. KZO typically has to work with the Customer s IT team to allow KZO servers to authenticate with an enterprise LDAP, Active Directory or SSO system. 5

Level 4: Custom API Integration for Metrics and Search The KZO Platform leverages custom API s in order to integrate extensively with existing systems. This allows search and metric data to be passed back and forth between systems automatically, without the need for CSV data files. In many cases where user authentication is in place between KZO and a Learning Management System, a custom API integration is performed to relay metrics tracking and search data between systems, providing a truly seamless user experience for administrators, content owners and learners. Metrics Metrics integration allows for the set-up of completion codes based on each Customer s requirement. For example, KZO can report completion metrics as a certain percentage of a video, playlist or category of videos that is viewed uniquely by each user. The LMS can query KZO automatically to pull completion reports into the LMS. If a user has viewed 90% of a required video or playlist, the LMS is typically set up to displays the next quiz or module to the student. Search KZO s time-stamped search metadata can also be queried. This allows users to search the LMS and pull video results containing a keyword. A KZO video can contain many layers of metadata 6

that direct viewers to specific segments within a video or playlist, including Chapter bookmarks, user Q&A and parsed text from accompanying PowerPoint slides. The result is a unified, permission controlled, highly secure but seamless on-demand learning environment with video. The user never knows that they are interacting with two unique systems. Video content management is easier, access is seamless, reporting is automatic and your organization is armed with a video platform that will scale with your business needs over time. What are the Pros and Cons of Each? Many KZO Customers start with a simpler method of sharing videos to their Learning Management system because they have immediate video needs, but do not have the resources to go through a technical integration at the present time. SCORM plug-in can be activated at any time with no involvement from the Customer s IT team. Technical integration projects such as SSO or Metrics integration can be done at any point throughout the licensing term if or when the Customer deems appropriate. In either case, KZO Innovations will work with you to determine the best options for your current and future needs. Here are some common Pros and Cons of each Level of Integration to consider: Level 1 Pros No technical integration project required Can start sharing videos with an LMS right away Cons Non-restricted viewing removes KZO s ability to track detailed viewing metrics on a per- user basis and is less secure Assigning unique KZO usernames and passwords requires the time of a KZO administrator and requires the user to log into the LMS, then separately log into each video module using KZO username 7

Level 2 Pros Enables SCORM wrapper download for tracking and reporting basic viewing data to the LMS No technical integration project required Can start sharing videos with an LMS right away Cons SCORM standard typically relays when an object is launched from an LMS, but does not track or relay exactly how many seconds of a video are viewed, resulting in limited metrics tracking of duration (only tracks how long a page is open, which seconds of video are streamed). As with Level 1, videos must either be marked for non-restricted viewing or preassigned KZO usernames must be administered to LMS users Level 3 Pros Provides detailed metrics tracking on a per-user basis with ability to report completion percentages. Videos are truly secure Users do not require separate KZO usernames Cons Will require a technical integration project involving KZO personnel and Customer IT personnel There is typically a cost associated with user authentication projects Level 4 Pros Seamless user experience for admins, trainers and learners. Metrics reporting is relayed automatically between systems (no manual user intervention) Robust search capability saves time for users. Cons Will require a more extensive technical integration project involving KZO and Customer IT Higher cost than Levels 1-3 Typically requires user authentication or SSO if not already in place between LMS and KZO 8
