Lesson Plan 2- Courtney Vaccarello Class Level: Advanced Lesson Date: 02/12/2015 Classroom: Room 1 Lesson : 1 Hour Progess Expectation Subject Aim Objective Knowledge Assumed Material & Equipment Learning Assessment Post Lesson Notes The student should be able to name and recognize numerous different parts of the body Usage of vocab and grammar pertaining to the body Body Parts Prepare the student to be able to name and pronounce parts of the body in singular and plural forms. s should be able to say the singular or plural form of different body parts Since they are beginners, it is assumed that they know very little vocabulary and grammar about English and are learning most of the body parts for the first time. Handouts, computer, board The planned exercises will help the students to memorize and correctly pronounce body parts in both singular and plural usages Only one student showed up to class so I had to improvise and use my back ups to make the class longer. I just did a lot of vocabulary review and repeating the names of the body parts while having Cristina point to each one to reinforce her memorization of the words. Tasks 1 3 Introduction Introduce myself to the class and write my name on the board. Have students introduce themselves by name. Pass out attendance sheet. Write down names on attendance sheet and introduce themselves to the class. Attendance sheet

2 3 Warm Up Ask students what parts of the body they can name and point out on their own bodies in pairs. s discuss with a partner the parts of the body that they already know how to say 3 6 Vocab Presentation I will hang up an image of a person with specific body parts pointed out on the board. I will point to and pronounce each body part (singular form) and have the students repeat the word back a few times. s will repeat the body parts that I say 4 6 Practice Exercise I will pass out a handout of a person with blank spaces pointing to certain body parts that the students must fill in (the singular form of the body part) s complete the fill in the blank sheet of specific body Hand out

5 6 Vocab exercise I will tell the students to stand up and I will say a certain body part and will point to the correct part on my body and encourage them to point to their own corresponding body part. s stand up and will repeat the body part that I say and point to the correct part on their own body. 6 7 Grammar Practice I will write on the board the plural forms next to the singular forms of the body part and explain the difference between having one and multiple body Ex. finger vs fingers. s will repeat plural form of body part back to me s pronounce plural form of body part 7 6 Grammar Exercise I will then pass out the same sheet with the fill in the blanks and have them fill out the plural body s fill out handout Handout

8 7 Produce activity/ game I will play the song Head, shoulders, knees, and toes on my computer with lyrics. I will have everyone stand up and sing the song while pointing to their body s stand up and sing along to Head, shoulders, knees, and toes. Computer 9 7 Vocab Exercise Pass out handout with pictures of body parts and have students fill out the plural and singular forms. Review as a class when finished 10 7 Vocab Game Explain to students how to play Tic Tac Toe, and fill each box with the name of a body part. They will work in pairs to pronounce the body part and point to it on their body to play the game 11 3 Wrap up Instruct the students to point to one body part of theirs and say the name. s fill out plural/singular body part sheet Pronounce and point to a body part to play Tic Tac Toe with body part names in each box s will point to and name one body part. Handout

s Who Attended 12 5 Back up 1 If there is extra time, play simon says with the body part vocabulary we went over. Ex. Simon says touch your nose 13 5 Back up 2 If there is still extra time, draw a person on the board and have each student come up to the board and name one body part and draw an arrow to that part on the person. Name Age Level Notes s will stand up and play Simon says s will point out and name one body part from the person on the board until time is filled up. Cristina 60 Beginner Cristina was the only student that showed up to class on Friday, but her participation and motivation was high so it worked out well. For the most part she understood directions well and memorized the new vocabulary words fairly quickly except for a few of the body parts that she kept getting confused with each other.
