Jerry Junkins Uniform Dress 2014-2015 To help you as you purchase clothes this summer in preparation for the next school we are sending this reminder of our dress code Students at Jerry Junkins are expected to wear: Shirts and Blouses: Navy blue, light blue or white (District color). Shirts must have a collar. Emblems must be less than an inch in size. Pants, Jumpers, Capri s (knee length) and Shorts (fingertip length): Khaki, black or navy blue (District color) Leggings: White, black or navy blue Jackets and Sweaters (worn inside the building during the day): Black or navy blue, and free of logos and hoods Under shirts: White or blue to match school colors if visible Socks (when wearing with shorts or skirts): White, black or blue to match school colors Shoes: no sandals, flip flops, open toed shoes, clogs, or Ugg boots. School Spirit Fridays Students may wear current school year spirit shirt with denim blue jeans each Friday.
Belts must be worn with pants with belt loops. Sweat pants, athletic shorts and tight fitting clothing are not allowed. Jeans must be free of holes. District website: To improve student learning and foster a safe learning environment, the district requires that students in prekindergarten through eighth-grade wear uniforms. Students must wear athletic shoes, loafers, dress shoes, or other closed-toe, closed-heel shoes. Closed-toe and open-heel mules are allowed. Shirts, blouses, turtleneck, or polo-style shirts must have collars. Skirts, jumpers, shorts, and capri pants must be at least knee length. The colors of jackets, cardigans, and sweaters must match the approved uniform colors and one additional solid color top to be determined by the campus Inappropriate: Blue jeans, low-cut pants, low-rise pants, sagging slacks or pants, sweat pants, sweat shirts, hats, caps, bandanas, hair rollers, hair curlers, plastic hair bags, hair nets, sweat bands, skull caps, and other similar clothing or grooming items shall not be worn at school. Insignia on outerwear not related to the school or to the District is prohibited including but not limited to professional sports team and college insignia. Students may not wear clothing that is either revealing or provocative. Students are prohibited from wearing attire that may be considered weapons, such as chain belts, wallet chains, or other similar attire. Whether or not a student is dressed appropriately or properly groomed shall be left to the discretion of the principal or their designee. Student complaints regarding appropriate attire and grooming for religious and/or philosophical reasons shall follow the complaint procedures outlined in FNCA(REGULATION). For enforcement purposes, headwear worn as legitimate religious attire (as determined by the Board) may be considered as an exception. Students Pre-K - 12 All students shall wear clean clothing that is not torn or damaged. Shirts shall be worn inside slacks with belts at all times by all students unless the shirts are designed to be worn outside of the slacks or the pants are designed to be worn without a belt. All students shall wear appropriate footwear. Student shall not wear house slippers, flip-flops, or other footwear that constitutes a safety hazard. Students are also prohibited from wearing steeltoed boots or shoes to school.
Parent and Student Responsibility The parent and student shall be responsible for ensuring that the student is in compliance with all aspects of this policy while on school campuses during school hours. Special Events Principals prekindergarten-grade 8 are authorized to designate up to one day per week as a nonschool uniform day, in order to allow students to participate in activities such as 50s Day, Spirit Day, etc. From James Bowie: Allstudents are expected to comply with the following student dress code: Students will be required to wear uniforms Monday through Friday unless otherwise directed. Uniforms are expected to be neat and clean. Shirts must be solid navy blue with solid navy blue collar and sleeves. No exceptions. No designs, monograms, emblems. No T-shirts. Shirts must be tucked in and worn with a belt. Shirts must be appropriately sized. Pants, jumpers, walking shorts, skirts & skorts must be solid navy blue, black, or khaki cotton twill dress material. No knit or denim. No overalls (coveralls) or jeans. Boys cannot wear earrings. Shorts, skorts, or skirts must be no shorter than fingertip length when the arms are hanging loosely at the side. Shoes - no sandals, flip flops, open toed shoes, clogs, or backless shoes. Jackets or heavy coats may be worn to and from school only during cold weather. Students will not be allowed to wear jackets or wear outer garments not appropriate for the weather. Students will be required to leave coats or jackets in the locker or the classroom. Sweaters must be navy blue. Wearing makeup is not allowed. Excessive jewelry is not allowed. Oversized or sagging or baggy clothes will not be allowed. Hoodies are not allowed. Students hairstyle should not be a distraction to the learning process. It is possible that you may be asked change your child s hairstyle. Every student should keep their hair, beard, eyebrows, and mustache well groomed. No designs are allowed. Students are allowed to wear their hair in a manner which expresses their individuality; however, if the style becomes a distraction to the instructional
environmental beyond the first day, student will be required to restyle their hair. Failure to comply will be considered disrespect of school personnel, a Level II Offense, according to the Student Code of Conduct. Students shall keep their hair, beards, eyebrows, and mustaches neatly groomed. No designs will be allowed; they are considered gang related and will not be tolerated. Whether or not a student is dressed appropriately or properly groomed shall be left to the discretion of the principal or her designee. If the principal, or designee, feels that a student s dress or grooming is detrimental to a safe environment, she may consult with other knowledgeable authorities. The student dress code will be strictly enforced. Parents/Guardians will be called to bring appropriate clothes to school for students who are not following dress code and may be requested to attend a conference with the administrator to discuss the offense and subsequent disciplinary action. From Stemmons elem: Student Dress Code Slacks and Pants Color: All slacks and pants must be a solid color: Khaki, navy blue, or black Style: Slacks and pants can be pleated or flat front, full length, appropriately fastened at the waist. Pants with loops require belts. Material: Cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, or twill. No sweatpants!! Tops Shirts and blouses must have button down collars or have straight collars. Turtlenecks and polo styles are permitted. All tops must be worn tucked inside pants, slacks or skirts. Color: All students PreK-6 shall wear white or red shirts. Style: Long or short sleeves with a collar required. Turtlenecks and polo styles are permitted. Logos: Manufacture trademarks, if any, must be one inch or less. Dress Code Violations: There are two types of dress code violations. Level I offenses include inappropriate shirt or pants. Level I offenses require an automatic referral to the office. Level II offenses include shirts un-tucked, belts, shoes untied, or other grooming restrictions. These offenses must be handled by the classroom teacher by following classroom management procedures.
