LabCollector Server Manager user s guide 1. Installation LabCollector is installed using the Setup wizard (On Win7, Win8, Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2012 or 2016) or manually on any OS (Windows, Unix, Linux, MacOS X, etc.). For help on manual installations read the included manuals or contact us (Support-Ticket). 2. Usage of LabCollector Server Manager a. First login Once installed, LabCollector server can be started with the manager, by clicking on the Start All green button. Then, keep the manager running by minimizing it or close it, servers will still be running. LabCollector runs on one computer (being the server once LabCollector is installed) by using Apache web server, PHP scripting language and MySQL database server. All is installed at once by the Setup wizard (LabCollector_Setup2.exe). You can use LabCollector by clicking on the Browse LabCollector button or by opening your Internet browser and call on the same computer where LabCollector is installed: http://localhost or http://127.0.0.1 1
All computers of your lab local network can access to LabCollector using a recent Internet browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Opera) calling: http://computer_name or http://computer_ip Where computer_name or computer_ip refer to the computer (now being the server) where LabCollector have been installed. Note that you may need to check and edit your firewall settings to allow/grant LabCollector access. LabCollector will run as a service in the background so there is no need to keep the manager window open. You can even logoff from your windows user account and still other users will be able to enter LabCollector. When logging into the program for the first time, you must enter admin for the User Name and Password. You may use this default User Name for future logins on super-administrator session, or you may configure individual User Names and Passwords for each user. For security reasons, it s advised to change password during your first LabCollector use. 2
Then you can use LabCollector normally! b. Update your LabCollector using LabCollector Server Manager When a new version of LabCollector is available, the Download button becomes green indicating the new version number (1). Just download the new version, then the Update button on the same line of your instance becomes active (2). Click on this button and finish the update. Once your internet browser open on LabCollector, you may need to call upgrade.php: http://computer_name/instance_name/upgrade.php. For more information, refer to the forum. If you were already on a fully upgraded version 5.1x, you don't need to run this upgrade. 3
c. LabCollector Server Manager settings i. Log Files and Configure servers You can access to Apache errors, Apache access, MySQL errors and Backups Log. You can also access to the different configuration files for PHP, MySQL, Apache, Apache SSL and view PHP_info. ii. Laboratory deployment This section allows you to manage your different instances (you may need to purchase an upgrade option). You can create and duplicate instances, rename and delete existing instances provided that database server is stop. iii. Automatic backups and recover instance Using the Server Manager, you can configure automatic backups. First, choose a folder directory. If you want to copy this folder on another server, fill also the FTP settings. After, you have the choice between short-term and long-term backups. In both, just fill the form and validate. 4
To recover a backup, just go on the settings Recover Instances, then choose the backup file (.zip). if you have more than one instance, a select list will help you to find the one to recover. Then, click on Recover button. iv. Windows Service reinstallation If you have Web Server or Apache start problems for example please use this function to troubleshoot Windows services. Just click in settings menu on Windows Service Reinstallation, and then accept to reinstall the service. 5
