Newsletter 10 August 2016, Term 3 Week 3 Dear Parents and Guardians, Our recent highlight was definitely the Family Fun Day held last Sunday. It was a day enjoyed by all staff, students, parents, community members and visitors. It was such a wonderful school community event which was well supported by local businesses. Sincere thanks to all our sponsors! Many thanks to all parents who came along, gave donations or gave their time on a class stall. We know that there were parents who were organising this event for many months seeking sponsorship, organising tickets, logistics, etc. They did a fantastic job alongside teachers, both giving their time on Sunday to be part of a school community event. Thank you to all involved! Our Year 6 students are making final preparations for their departure this Sunday on the Year 6 study tour to Singapore. The students are very excited and are looking forward to this wonderful experience which includes visiting our sister school, Avondale Grammar School. 33 students will be accompanied by 5 staff members and we look forward to updates next week. We wish them a safe trip. A reminder that nominations for the Teaching in the Territory Excellence Awards close Friday 19 August. Please consider submitting a nomination. Peer Support: Week Three Caring for Friends This week in Peer Support the children will be participating in activities helping them to identify and accept differences in people. Children will also identify ways they can demonstrate being caring through their actions. Discuss with your child the importance of accepting differences in other people. Perhaps take the time to identify and discuss the various differences people may have e.g. appearance, religion, culture, disabilities. Ask your child to share the qualities they appreciate in their friends. WELL DONE LUCAS!!!! LARRAKEYAH FAMILY FUNDAY! Thankyou to the many parents, teachers and friends who supported and participated in Sunday's inaugural Family Fun Day. The day was a huge success achieved only through the efforts of the Fete Committee's organization, the teachers preparation and parents contributions. Our Sponsors played huge role in enabling us to keep costs down and generate fundraising capacity. Whilst the numbers are still being finalized, we can report that the funds raised from the day will be in excess of $7000. What a magnificent achievement. We look forward to your support at future fun days and again, thankyou for being part of the 2016 event. FFDcommittee
VISIBLE LEARNING BY 4 Beynon Learning Intention: 4 Beynon are learning hockey skills this term. Today our learning intention was to dribble the hockey ball in straight and zig zag line. Success Criteria: We knew we were successful when we could control the ball, keep the ball connected to our hockey stick and change directions.
