Our common future Automotive career development model

Our common future Dynamically developing investment centre Miskolc, with its fortunate geographical location in the immediate vicinity of three countries is the administrative, economic, scientific, educational, cultural and tourist centre of the Northern Hungary region. The threefold unity of the city industry, knowledge and culture is a good representation of the city s effort to produce innovative added value that meets today s expectations while building on tradition and accumulated experience. The stable economic situation, the available skilled workforce, the widespread economic cooperation built on the knowledge base of the University of Miskolc, and the research institutes all support the realisation of the city leaders objectives. The settlement of Hungarian and international investors play a key role in this. In 2013 the government selected Miskolc and its surrounding to be a flagship development centre that contributes to the realisation of our plans. Let Miskolc be our common future!

Innovative city Higher educational training with a century of knowledge and tradition, adjusted to the market needs is extremely important in the realisation of developments and investments in Miskolc. Lecturers, teachers and students at the 7 departments of the University of Miskolc and at its research institute, along with workers at the Institute of Logistics and Production Technology, the Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research together with SMEs and clusters involved in research and development realised a number of innovations that have already been successfully applied in the industry and in business.

Our common future Tourist destination Miskolc and its immediate surroundings offer a number of tourist attractions. The Miskolctapolca Cave Baths unique in Europe with the next door open air pools, the Lillafüred Hanging Gardens, the biggest waterfall in Hungary and the renovated Diósgyőr Castle are special sights that attract Hungarian and foreign visitors alike. These places offer immeasurable opportunities for discovery and freetime activity for those who settle in Miskolc. Environmentally friendly innovations By joining the Green City movement Miskolc has committed to become greener and more environmentally friendly, and ultimately to offer a more liveable environment for its citizens. Among the innovations we can list the tram tracks renovation and purchase of 31 new tram cars, the largest geothermal renewable energy project in Central Eastern Europe, the biogas and biomass plants, the introduction of selective waste collection, the presently renewed sewage pipe system with an almost 100% coverage, the most modern ultrafilter water cleaning technology. All this helps Miskolc to become a Green City and a more liveable place.

How to get to Miskolc? The city is the regional centre of Northern Hungary, and it can be reached in 1.5 hours from Budapest on the M3+30 motorway. There are InterCity trains leaving for Miskolc from Budapest every hour that makes train travel comfortable and efficient. Besides the Liszt Ferenc International Airport in the capital, the international airports in Debrecen and Košice can also be accessed within an hour. The city and its partners are planning to open a nearby airport that would make it easier for investors and visitors to get to Miskolc. Thanks to its excellent accessibility, fortunate geographical location and important role in vocational training as well as higher education there have been several logistics companies that made significant investments and developments in the city in the last few years.

Our common future Looking at Miskolc as an investor... We made a decision over five years ago that we would renew our customer service and move it to Miskolc. We have received over 100,000 feedback from our clients that confirm this choice. The city leadership proved to be an excellent partner and they have been very supportive throughout the whole time. As a result of this cooperation we carried out another investment in the value of 400 million HUF in 2014; and consequently we added 1600 sqm to our premises and we are expected to have 500 employees by December. Our decision to do this extension besides our excellent cooperation with the city was due to the excellent workforce available. This is why we decided to establish the special RED Assistants team here, and the people of Miskolc can be rightfully proud of it. Péter Major, customer service director of Vodafone Hungary. Miskolc is the location where the prerequisites of high value-added production are integrated into a sustainable business and natural environment. The local actors are committed to build the future of this liveable city together and the spirit of our founder, Robert Bosch can be inherited to the next generations:...i would rather lose money than trust. Uwe Mang, CFO of Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems Ltd. Besides economic growth, one of the main strategic objectives of Remy Automotive Hungary Ltd. is to increase its presence and visibility in Miskolc. Its other objective is to be a reliable, permanent and strong strategic partner for the city and the region that helps to build and strengthen the community where we live and work. Zoltán Király, Operative Director in Europe, Remy Automotive Hungary Ltd. The Japanese owners of Shinwa opted for Miskolc as their only production site on Europe following a long search in 1998. The automotive giant that has been around for many decades in Asia decided to open a plant in the county seat primarily due to the vicinity of the university and skilled labour as well as industrial traditions. Over the past few years the Japanese-owned company has become a vital industrial actor in the country and the city, and is one of the most important automotive production bases in Hungary. Zoltán Zahorán, sales and marketing manager of Shinwa Magyarország Precíziós Kft. Last year in November it has been announced that our company, Takata will build its first plant in Hungary, at Miskolc. 60.000 sqm halls have been built since then at a 25 hectares big ground and everything was running according to plans, we keep the remarkably strict deadlines. The fact that the plant is today already at such a stage could not been happen, if we would not receive such a professional, continuous high support from the city, the Government and the different authorities, as well as if we would not have such a great cooperation with Miskolc Holding. Therefore we would like to express our thanks again. The production will soon, still in October 2014 begin in our plant at Miskolc. Kersten Bachmann, European Director of the Airbag and Electronics Division, Takata Corporation.

Our common future Automotive career development model The threefold nature of the city is reflected in the Miskolc Automotive Career Plan as well: education and knowledge-based industry offers an adequate background both for fresh graduates and already seasoned experts from the region and elsewhere. At the same time, Miskolc and its beautiful surroundings, tourism and cultural offers bring culture close to people. Miskolc is often referred to as the cradle of mechatronics. The Hungarian and international companies that settled here by creating thousands of jobs and through their forward-looking work culture and the new departments launched at the university could stop and reverse the industrial and economic decline as well as the exodus of the workforce in the 90s. The Miskolc Automotive Career Plan launched under the coordination of the municipality of the city of Miskolc provides a new opportunity for (primarily) young experts studying in secondary schools, vocational schools or at university to plan their future in and together with Miskolc, and to have a perspective for their future career and home. In reaching this objective the municipality enjoys the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the association of enterprises, local companies, educational institutions and public administration as well. The milestones in this common work and planning are as follows: 2013: Miskolc municipality and Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems Ltd. agrees to launch common project developments under the name TOP-10 2013: the Hungarian government appoints Miskolc and its surrounding as a flagship development centre 2014: workshop at the Miskolc City Hall with the title Opportunities at the Flagship Development Centres in Hungary 2014: In the framework of the SROP project the municipality signs agreements with leaders of local enterprises, institutions and public administration actors to strengthen cooperation and thinking together 2014: Cooperation agreement between Miskolc City, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Association of Entrepreneurs and Employers about the improvement of the local economy through common work 2014: through local companies, the Automotive Cluster, the University of Miskolc and the city of Miskolc participate in the Formula Student Hungary event in Győr 2014: November: Miskolc exhibits for the first time at the 2nd Hungarian Automotive Fair in Budapest

Automotive Career development model The meaning of the English word career is life route in Hungarian. This word has taken on a positive meaning since the democratic transition in the last 25 years and today we use it to describe one s career development in life. Subjective dimension Successful career plan Professional dimension Social dimension The chart above presents the everyday workers task and relation to their career plan from three important aspects and through the continuous balance between them. It is important to find the activity and profession in which we feel good and can develop, receive further training throughout a lifetime and can experience self-fulfilment through commitment and love towards our profession. Our workplace is very important in our lives. We need good work atmosphere (acknowledgement of leaders and co-workers), adequate and available tools (PC, Internet) as well as financial and moral recognition (remuneration and praise) to successfully accomplish our tasks. Family provides the most important background for us, their support and encouragement is indispensable for successful self-realisation. Recreational time spent with the family should create adequate balance between our work and private life. Hungary has acquired a leading position in the automotive, vehicle and components manufacturing industry in Europe. This sector generates more than 10% of the Hungarian GDP. There are geographical axes and centres that are connected to different acclaimed producers that also resulted in the formation of a supplier chain (primarily with the involvement of SMEs). Today Miskolc is a new, albeit not unknown actor in the production of automotive units and components. It offers the industrial expertise of a century, excellent vocational and higher education training, a good supplement of modern equipment and machinery, fast reaction and flexibility from the institutions regarding training, the work culture of already settled SMEs, a wide ranging cooperation between the various economic actors these provide a draw for people interested in building their career.

Our common future INDUSTRY Miskolc, the former steel city, centre of the heavy metal industry has been totally transformed by the mid 2010s. The city continued to carry its industrial heritage, used the latest technology and kept the level of education and training opportunities at a European level while it also benefited from the work culture of the investors that use state of the art developments. This is how it turned into a liveable, safe city and an investment centre, built on companies that provide great added value. In recent years several world class production companies appeared in the city s industrial parks, companies that are important suppliers to some of the biggest car manufacturers. It is among the set objectives of the city s leadership (and besides them, also of the different leaders in education, culture and the economy) to invite automotive production companies to settle in the city s adequately prepared, several 100 hectares large industrial area. The widespread social cooperation to develop the city and to retain the qualified workforce, improve the level of education all serve these purposes, while the already realised, presently planned or in progress projects help the implementation of this objective. Miskolc offers a pleasant environment, safety, adequate living conditions, foreign language training from kindergarten to university, sports and other recreational activities to Hungarian and foreign experts and managers who decide to move here. The city offers secure jobs in a fresh, youthful and forward-looking environment. Come and join us in shaping the future of Miskolc!

KNOWLEDGE education and vocational training that meets the market needs Vocational training One of the most important requirements for economic development is highly qualified workforce and adequate level of vocational training. The educational institutions of the city, the Klebelsberg Institution Maintenance Centre, significant enterprises in the region, the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the city of Miskolc play an important part in this. Significant effort has been made to ensure continuous relations between the different sectors. The key to economic development is the creation of a knowledge based society, in which professional training plays an important part. The resource for economic development in the city is the highly qualified workforce, and both the local and the state interest is to create a high-level and market-oriented vocational training. The content of the training has been renewed, more emphasis is now placed on practical training and it takes place through student contracts with placement at plants and enterprises. Several big companies have decided to open an operational unit in Miskolc and they continuously create new jobs, thus students graduating in the city have good chances of finding employment here. The new production processes made it necessary to offer new kinds of training in cooperation with the vocational schools in order to meet the high technical expectations of the industry. Bosch for example launched a special training programme in cooperation with the Andrássy Gyula Technical Vocational School, and the practical lessons are held at the training centre of the company.

Our common future MITISZK Workforce turned into skilled labour The main activity of the Miskolc Regional Integrated Vocational Training Centre (MITISZK Nonprofit Ltd.) is secondary vocational education during which students studying in institutions operated by KLIK are provided with the opportunity of quality practical education. The training centre is vital not only in youth training, but also in adult education and retraining. Besides programmes that offer qualifications in line with the National Training Register (OKJ) they also offer competence-based training with view of the professional requirements of the company acting as a customer. The majority of the offered programmes are related to mechanical engineering, but this year they launched training in information technology and electronics as well. Andrássy Gyula Vocational Secondary School The primary aim of the school established in 1912 is to provide the neighbouring area with experts that have upto-date knowledge and a good moral attitude. It offers a 2-year-long vocational training following the acquisition of the General Certificate of Secondary Education in the fields of mechatronics, mechanical engineering technology, CAD-CAM informatics and logistics administrator that meet marketplace challenges. The practical vocational training takes place in the well-equipped locksmith, cutting, flame and arc welding, CNC and CIM workshops and laboratories. If there are eventually lacking professional training capacities the MITISZK facilities are at the students disposal. These workshops and laboratories represent the highest level of technology available today. Baross Gábor Transportation and Postal Services Secondary School Besides the secondary vocational training this school offers vocational training following the acquisition of a General Certificate of Secondary Education in different professional groups, flexibly adjusting to changes in the educational policy and labour market: Vocational training in Transportation Vocational training in Trade and Commerce Vocational training in Economics Vocational training in Information Technology Bláthy Ottó Electrotechnical Secondary School The school has widened its scope and besides Electrical Technology it now offers training in Electronics, Information Technology and Management Engineering as well. The purpose of the training that occurs between the 9th and 12th grade is to prepare students for the GSCE examination and to pass on theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the specialisation. In the framework of the electrotechnology-electronics training students learn how to calculate, assemble and measure electric circuits, they acquire special IT skills and get acquainted with the different industrial equipment that control electronic devices. During the Information Technology group training students learn about the structure and operation of computers and other IT tools, they learn how to manage different end-user programmes and how to create their own programmes.

Kandó Kálmán Vocational Secondary School There are two types of professional trainings available here: electrotechnology-electronics and information technology. The school is equipped with modern tools and equipment for the professional practical and vocational training. The electrotechnology-electronics practical training takes place in three well-equipped electronics laboratories. School is fitted with the latest electronic devices and equipments, such as low-voltage electrical lab tables, oscilloscopes, digital instruments, signal generators and portable measuring sets for analogue and digital circuits. Electrical measurements and the construction of electronic circuits are conducted in these laboratories as well. The Jabil applied electronics laboratory was opened in 2004. Here students learn how to use computer-aided manufacturing tools. Also with the support of Jabil Circuit Hungary Ltd. the Festo pneumatics and PLC laboratory was opened in 2006, where students can get acquainted with industrial process planning on a miniature production line. Szemere Bertalan Vocational Secondary School and Dormitory The Szemere Bertalan Vocational Secondary School and Dormitory has several decades of history in offering transportation studies. In the 9th and 10th grade of vocational school the transport engineering training follows a curriculum that lead to car mechanic and automotive electronics specialisations. Between the 10th and 12th grade the school offers foundational profession-specific training. Following secondary school graduation vocational training can be pursued in the 13th and 14th grade in both professions and in the 15th grade students can learn to become car technicians. Theoretical training takes place in the institute, while prior to graduation practical training is conducted in the well-equipped workshops of the school, and following graduation the external training sites are involved in the practical training according to the dual training scheme. The institution is an accredited technical examination centre as well. Science Museum The EU co-financed Science Museum will open in Miskolc in 2015. The institution of over 8,000 sqm provides opportunity for the University of Miskolc, the research institutes and regional innovative companies to present their scientific activity and innovative achievements in a direct, experience-based format. One of the main focuses of technical and engineering training is the automotive industry. This is why regional suppliers are also given the opportunity to present their activities and career offers in this special environment. The institution would like to introduce unusual educational formats, and present physical phenomena, physical laws and scientific achievements through experimentation that is enhanced by a playful and free environment. Besides the continuously renewed exhibition and grand productions workshops will be an important feature where in-depth knowledge can be acquired irrespective of age.

Our common future University of Miskolc Knowledge is a huge draw The University of Miskolc of one of the most important higher education institution in the North-East Hungary region, therefore it has a significant role in the life of the region and Miskolc as well. The university campus is unique in Europe with its 85 hectares. It has deep historic roots and traditions as the legal successor of the first technical higher education institution of the world. There are 7 departments: the Faculty of Earth Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Material Sciences, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Information Science welcome engineering students with well-equipped laboratories and up-to-date curricula. There are also Humanities departments: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Faculty of Arts and Humanities, as well as the 4 specialisations offered at the Institute of Health Care Studies. Due to its extensive cooperation network students at the University of Miskolc have the opportunity to do part of their studies abroad. In the last decade several international companies decided to invest in Miskolc. It was primarily because of the intellectual capital found at the University of Miskolc, the skilled and trained workforce in place, the proximity of the Eastern markets and the city s favourable logistics. Regarding R&D Miskolc has a significant role in the county and the region; it has launched or participated in a number of international projects. The university bridges the different expert fields in basic, applied and development research. Besides the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Information Science the Faculty of Material Sciences and Faculty of Economics also participate in automotive education and research. In the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Information Science a number of institutes contribute to automotive education and search. For example the Materials Structures and Materials Technology Institute (materials testing, welding, heat treatment and plastic deformation); the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Energetics (energy efficiency, aerodynamic calculations and measurements); the Institute of Machine and Product Design (gears, motors, bearings, lubrication, tribology, engineering acoustics); the Institute for Manufacturing Sciences (modernisation of manufacturing and technological process planning methods); the Institute of Logistics (material handling equipment, logistics systems, optimal design of welded structures); the Institute of Mechanical Engineering (FE simulations); the Mechatronic Engineering Tool Institute (machine tool design, mechatronic modelling); the Institute of Automation, Information and Communication (telecommunications, process control and instrumentation, digital systems).

Bay Institutes: Engineering services to the industry The Logistics and Manufacturing Technology Institute of the Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. for Applied Research (BAY-LOGI) established in 1993 is the leading research institute in Northern Hungary, engaged in applied R&D. In the first years of the institute they focused on logistics, manufacturing technology, information technology and recycling. Since then several new domains have been introduced such as structural integrity (operational security), environmental management and mechatronics. There have been new departments opened in energy, materials and nanotechnology as well. With its present competence the institute carries out complex engineering development and service projects and it also participates in Doctoral education. The laser technology department of the Material Science and Technological Institute (BAY-ATI) provides laser based developments, technologies and services (welding, 3D cutting, surface modification) that meet even the highest international standards. Lean management specialisation at the Logistics Management MSc Department This specialisation was first offered in Hungary at the University of Miskolc, in cooperation with Robert Bosch Energy and Body Systems (RBHM) Ltd., in the form of a dual training. It means that the 6 specialisation subjects are taught in a special format. The students learn theory at the university, while the practical part of the subjects approximately half of the classes in the curricula are held at RBHM Ltd. Students can learn and practice the Lean method by solving complex real life problems individually and in groups. Assessment is the shared responsibility of university lecturers and instructors at the company, and the practical elements are evaluated separately for each subject. Lean thinking subjects are not only related to organisational processes (Lean Manufacturing and Maintenance, Industrial Automation, Servicing Logistics, Lean Logistics, Logistics Management) and methodological skills (problem solving methods and systems, Lean quality engineering), but also to the development of human skills and competences required for their successful execution (organisational behaviour and performance management).

Our common future INDUSTRY Tradition and Innovation Chamber of Commerce and Industry: a reliable partner Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BOKIK) is a main drive for the county s economy. BOKIK s primary objective is to contribute to the growth of SMEs exports and to strengthen innovation. Due to its geographical location BOKIK has traditionally had a good relationship with other chambers of commerce in the neighbouring countries. It is also based on its participation in the Cooperation of Carpathian Chambers that was established on the initiative of BOKIK. Cooperation between the participating Slovakian, Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian and Hungarian parties has grown stronger over time. Besides members of the Cooperation of Carpathian Chambers the organisation enjoys good relationship with public bodies and economic development organisations in traditional export partners of the county Austria, Germany and other EU member states as well. In line with the economic development programme Eastern opening BOKIK signed two major cooperation agreements last year. First with CCPIT, the economic development organisation of Shandong Province (China) and another with the Chamber of Commerce of the Turkish city Kayseri. In addition, BOKIK contacted the Chamber of Commerce in Yekaterinburg, in Russia. The Carpathian Regional Business Network has also been established. It helps cooperation between regional enterprises with 13 developments offices in 6 countries. BOKIK wants to ensure a dual vocational training that effectively meets the market requirements and that provides companies with highly skilled workforce. Employment Centre: In partnership for more employment The Employment Centre of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County s Administration is an important actor in the regional labour market. It cooperates with public, private and civil organisations and interest representation groups committed to develop the county s labour market and employment figures. The Employment Centre provides information to investors about the labour supply and demand in the county, along with the available support and services. It also boosts and supports the transfer of investors to the region, job creation and employment at temporarily struggling companies with different public tools. The Employment Centre participates in the selection and mediation of workforce requested by public and private employers, in professional training and competence development of adult job seekers. It regularly provides recruitment services and workforce mediation for multinational companies settled in the region or for hiring companies contracted by these firms (e.g. Jabil, Bosch, Sanmina, Shinwa, Takata). In cooperation with the employers it realises complex training, services and employment programmes. MECHANTRONIC Industrial Park and Miskolc Southern Industrial Park (MIDIP) Full comfort for the investors. The Municipality of Miskolc presently operates two industrial parks. The territory of the Mechatronic Industrial Park today is 224 hectares, full of enterprises. The Miskolc Southern Industrial Park is located on 93.5 hectares besides the M30 motorway s connecting road and the Miskolc-Budapest railway road. Besides its strategic location and modern infrastructure it offers complex and tailor-made business solutions to companies. It provides a secure background for enterprises and the realisation of their objectives.

NOHAC: Automotive suppliers all in one place Central Eastern Europe has been a centre for car manufacturing. Practically all the major European and Far Eastern producers have a manufacturing plant in the region. It is their interest to receive components from local or nearby suppliers. Therefore companies in the region i.e. members of the North Hungarian Automotive Cluster (NOHAC) have a good chance to become suppliers or to strengthen their already existing business ties with these producers. The cluster aims to boost the competitiveness of North Hungarian automotive suppliers, their innovation and profit-making capability through cooperation, and thus bring its partners closer to European car manufacturing and vice versa. Many new companies have joined NOHAC and now it boasts of appr. 70 members. The majority of the members come from the metal and plastic works industry, but there are architectural offices and enterprises that provide certification and other services as well. The cluster members have around 11,600 employees in total, with a turnover of 420 billion HUF, and their export income exceeds 337 billion HUF. Culture Few places that can boast of so wonderful hiking sites within the city and have tens of thousands years history like Miskolc does. Miskolc is unique because of its built and natural habitat. The Miskolc National Theatre is one of the most visited theatres outside the capital. One of the oldest monuments of the city is the Avas Reformed Church and Bell, along with the special Greek Orthodox Church and its holy pictures. The renovation of the Diósgyőr Castle made Miskolc a more attractive destination, since the castle of King Louis the 1st was restored to its original splendour. The only Theatre History and Acting Museum in the region is not to be missed either, along with the Herman Ottó Museum s archaeological collection from the time of the Hungarian conquest of the Carpathian Basin and the greatest collection of Hungarian painters outside the capital. The Pannon Sea Museum that opened a year ago displays the 7 million years old Bükkábrány swamp cypresses in an interactive format. In Miskolc the local university, metalworking, metallurgy and paper production all have their own museums. In the heart of the city besides the historic monuments you can find many modern buildings as well. The river of Miskolc is the Szinva stream. It creates a romantic atmosphere with its special rock gardens and nicely lit walking streets in the neighbourhood. Miskolc has a wonderful natural habitat in the city s immediate vicinity. The territory of the Bükk National Park runs across the city. There is a romantic road leading to Lillafüred which is not only a climatic health resort, but a very popular hiking destination as well. The 20m high Szinva waterfalls the highest in Hungary are a very beautiful natural sight. The lovely Castle Hotel (Palotaszálló) and the scenic Hámori Lake are pilgrimage sites for many. Other tourist attractions include the Anna Tuff Cave and the Saint Stephen dripstone cave. The Lillafüred State Forest Railway carries passengers through the biggest small train viaduct of the country, in the length of 14km. Brown trout is not only studied in the biggest Hungarian genetic trout bank at the Garadna Trout Park, but freshly roasted trout is also served here, attracting many tourists. Another famous hiking place and holiday resort of the city is Miskolctapolca. The Cave Baths here are a main tourist attraction a unique natural formation in Europe. The crystal clean micro climate of the cave is fed by 28 34 C water from the Bükk karst system. Lake bath, sauna park, shell pool and a wide range of thermal and wellness services make your stay more enjoyable here. Miskolc has become a festival city with traditional programmes such as the Aspic Carnival (Kocsonyafarsang), the Bartók Plus Opera Festival, the Diósgyőr Castle Festival, the Jameson CineFest International Film Festival and the Miskolc Beer Festival to list only a few. These events bring hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city, and are a focal point in its tourism.

Our common future Provision for an automotive career development model Miskolc has many characteristics that we are proud of. It is Hungary s 4th biggest city, and it serves as the administrative, economic, academic, educational and cultural centre of the Borsod region, with excellent logistics. We are proud of its rich industrial heritage, primarily in the field of heavy industry, steel and machinery production, and we building on these characteristics that make Miskolc an attractive place for investors. One of the main drives behind economic development was the establishment and development of new industrial parks that enabled new companies of high added value to settle here. Our industrial parks are built to meet the highest expectations and they offer adequate infrastructure and wide-ranging services. In the European Union programming period 2014 2020 among cities with county rights Miskolc ranked second on the list on contributions. It was awarded 33 billion HUF for settlement development purposes. Miskolc stepping beyond its former industrial role has entered the automotive industry in Hungary and in the world. Takata, the Japanese airbag manufacturer made a decision in 2013 to built its new plant in Miskolc, Hungary. The 68.3m investment is the biggest greenfield investment of the last 3 years in Hungary. The Bosch Group settled in our city a while back and thanks to the continuous developments they now have more than 4000 employees. The Singapore-based automotive component producer group, PATEC is building its new European centre in Miskolc. Job creation has undergone a huge development in the city, that is partly due to our excellent educational system. We set out on a path towards a new, high added-value economy. As a result of the threefold cooperation between the city, the economic actors and the university a flagship innovation and research centre is built. We place special emphasis on vocational training, international education and dual training as well. This how Miskolc becomes the city of talents. It offers an unparalleled opportunity and career plan to people already living here or physical workers and highly qualified workforce coming to the city. Besides being an important economic actor in the region, Miskolc also offers an automotive career development model together with many sights, programmes, international festivals, continuously growing attractions and developing information services that make the city more liveable and attractive for people already living here and those who opt for Miskolc as their new home. This how Miskolc becomes the city of our common future. Dr. Ákos Kriza, Mayor of Miskolc
