Standard Bar/Restaurant/Private Office/Business Viewing Installation The standard professional commercial installation for bar/restaurant (BAR) /private office (POL)/business viewing (HOS) buildings will include the following: Mounting the DIRECTV Multi-Satellite System 18x20 ODU on the commercial establishment s roof utilizing a Non-Penetrating Roof Mount (NPRM) with the associated rubber mount and ballast. In limited markets (for the 72.5 degree markets), the basic installation includes two dishes. Grounding the DIRECTV Multi-Satellite 18x20 ODU in accordance with NEC Article 810-21. Installing up to 150 ft of RG-6 or RG-11 cable and amplification. Routing of cable through an approved roof penetration and following an approved commercial cable run (wire chases, drop ceiling, vertical air shafts, etc.). Connection of one DIRECTV IRD per TV on site. Limit 3. Connecting DIRECTV IRD to phone jack, if receiver is within 25 feet of phone jack. (Needed for phone number verification, currently required.) Maximizing signal strength and activating the account for DIRECTV programming. At least 30 minutes of customer education on the operation of the system. If the commercial establishment wants additional work that is not included in the standard professional commercial installation, it is recommended that the dealer negotiate this work directly with the customer. 1

Example of work that is not included in the standard professional commercial installation is listed below. Additional RG-6 cable over 150 feet. Plenum cable of any length. Phone jack wiring where existing service is more than 25 feet from receiver. Providing any enhancements to existing phone system. Connections to stereo, VCRs and/or various audio components not co-located with the receiver. Special moldings or other cosmetic hardware used to hide exposed cables. Installation of multi-switch (N/A if DVR installation), or additional IRD installation of more than 3 IRDs. Additional TVs that are split out on a channel 3/4 loop (convenience outlets). Commercial Installation Procedures 1. The commercial establishment must provide written proof of property owner s permission upon the technician s arrival. 2. The following items are required to be carried with the dealer for each job: Non-Penetrating Roof Mount with Rubber Mat, and Ballast equipment. 18 x 20 AU2 ODU, and RG-6 or RG-11 cable with proper fittings. Standard IRD(s) up to 3 more than requested by customer when placing order. All other tools and parts required to complete a system installation. Off-Air Antenna should be available but not part of a standard installation. Backup LNB. 3. When on location at each store, the technician should conduct a site survey for dish placement. a. In most cases, stores will have flat roofs and technicians will be able to use the Non Penetrating Roof Mount (NPRM). i. NPRM systems should be installed with proper ballast weights. The proper ballast requirements to meet exposure level C requirements to 30 building heights are outlined below: 2

ii. (Exposure Level C is designed for the windiest areas. In general, open terrain with scattered obstructions having heights generally less than 30 ft. This category includes flat, open country and grasslands.) iii. Six 8x8x16 concrete blocks will be required for each NPRM system installed. The total weight of this ballast material should be approx. 210lbs (35lbs. per sq. ft.), which will prevent overturning or sliding to steady winds and gusts of approx. 100 mph. b. Technicians need to be extremely careful on flat roofs as most flat roofs have a rubber membrane that is easily punctured and will void the warranty. c. In a small percentage of locations, technicians will be required to mount the dish to eaves or external walls of stores having sloped roofs. The technician should obtain a signed indemnification letter that holds DIRECTV and the dealer harmless from landlord disputes. d. Dealer will, however, be responsible for any damage caused by the installation, as is the policy for any other installation. 4. The 18x20 multi-sat ODU should be installed using the NPRM mounting hardware supplied with the NPRM. The 4 feeds coming from the Triple LNB should then be fed to the approved roof penetration. a. These 1-4 feeds should be single or dual RG 6 non-plenum with messenger ground and should run to 1 or 2 dual ground blocks that are grounded to an approved outdoor ground source. b. From the 1 or 2 dual ground blocks, 1-4 RG-6 cables should be run to the approved roof penetration, most likely an existing weather-head. c. The dealer should contact establishment s management prior to installation to ensure there is an entry point into the building. 5. Once inside the building, cable should be routed to the pre-determined TV location(s). a. In dropped ceiling establishments: Feed the cable above and through the dropped ceiling tiles to each TV location(s). Leave approximately 3-5 ft. of excess cable coiled in the ceiling above for hook-up. b. In some cases, dropped ceiling locations will have insulation just above the ceiling tiles that may require some cleanup after the cable run is completed. The technician must cleanup all debris left as a result of the install. c. In fixed ceiling establishments: Feed the cable neatly along ventilation runs, wire chases or other existing cable runs to the TV location(s). Leave approximately 3-5 ft. excess cable neatly coiled and secured above the TV location. 6. Cable should be ran down the backside of the TV(s), secured to the TV mount and attached to each IRD. 3

KaKu INSTALLATION AND UPGRADE KaKu Installation Overview 1. Perform and review site survey with customer. Remember, the customer s programming selections will determine which orbital locations need to be visible. From 72.5 WL: selected local channels markets From 99 WL Selected High Definition Local Channels From 101 WL: core DIRECTV programming From 103 WL Selected High Definition Local Channels From 110 WL: High Definition From 119 WL: selected local channels markets, HD and DIRECTV PARA TODOS programming From 95 WL: WorldDirect 2. Identify dish antenna location(s) and line of site(s) needed for customer s programming selections. 3. Assemble and mount dish antenna(s). Standard mounting includes, but is not limited to the roof, eave, outside wall, balcony, deck and chimney. A Pole Mount is considered standard. 4. A Monopole support mount must be used on all wall and roof installations. 5. Ground dish antenna(s) to meet NEC requirements. 6. Connect DIRECTV Receiver(s) to television(s). 7. Connect B Band Converter (BBC) to all H20 IRD s. 8. Connect cables from dish antenna to multiswitch. 9. Connect cables from multiswitch to DIRECTV Receiver(s). 10. Check signal strength in the DIRECTV Receiver for 72.5 WL, 99 WL, 101 WL, 103, WL 110 WL, 119 WL and/or 95 WL, depending on the customer s programming selections and market location. 10.
