4 History in brief Hamilton House, 10 North Parade Buildings is Georgian detached property dating back to The property is not shown on the Kingston Estate plan of 1750, which shows a garden granted to William Galloway on this site. William Galloway started building 8 Buildings here in 1750, and would have started building 10 North Parade Buildings in around Hamilton House was previously North Parade Brewery in 1906, as was the Salvation Army Hostel in the 1950 s. Hamilton House sits in a very prominent position in the centre of the City of Bath, very close to Bath Abbey, and adjacent Sally Lunns, thought to be the oldest house in Bath. Hamilton House was converted in to 9 flats, with 3 shop unit situated in the basement, in the 1970 s. Hamilton House became Grade II listed on the 12 th June 1950 and its listed reference is Three of the flats are currently owner occupied, with the remaining six flats being let. The 3 shop units in the basement consist of a Coffee Shop, Hairdressers and Jewellers.
5 Proposed works West of England Estate Management Company Ltd have ask me to put together a proposal to submit for Listed Building Consent for the installation of a Integrated Receiving System (IRS) and satellite dish at Hamilton House. The IRS System comprises of a satellite dish and antenna on the roof of the property, connected to a multi-switch which in turn is connected to output points inside each of the flats. The multi-switch unit which I propose to be positioned at the back of the hallway on the ground floor which is required to be hard wired in to the properties main landlords electrical supply. Careful consideration and investigation has been given in to the options for this installation. The mains power supply will be taken from the electric cupboard in the basement, under the floor to a service void which runs up through the building. The power cable can then be feed in to the multi-switch cabinet completely hidden from view. There will also be a cable from the multi-switch unit up in to the roof space and out to the satellite dish and antenna, which I propose to position on the inside face of the north east chimney stack. The satellite dish will not be visible from ground level outside the property, and as I propose to position it on the inside face of the chimney stack, this will help to limit the visual impact to the surrounding properties. Both the satellite dish and antenna will be facing in a Southern direction. As indicated in the photos below, the proposed elevated height of the satellite dish is just below the roof ridge line. This was determined during a signal receiver strength test, which was carried out to ultimately determine the satellite dish s proposed location. The antenna will be installed on the same pole as the satellite dish and will not be any higher than the antennas already installed.
6 Each flat will have a quad outlet point positioned inside, located adjacent to a service void, as to ensure no cables can be seen. The size of the quad outlets are the same as a single plug socket. The quad outlet points each require 2 cables fed from the multi-switch unit on the ground floor hallway. These cables will utilize the existing service voids that pass down through the building on each side of the main communal staircase, ensuring all cables are hidden from view. The design of this system has been undertaken to consider at all times the sensitive nature of Hamilton House. All items of equipment included in this design are currently the smallest and most compact available for this type of system on the market at present. The position of the satellite dish and antenna has been careful thought through to ensure a minimal visual impact not only to Hamilton House, but to the surrounding properties. By placing these items on the inside face of the North East chimney; they will not be visible from ground level. Due to the high ridge level of the roof of Hamilton House and given that the majority of the surrounding buildings are of a similar height, the visual impact when viewing from the upper floors of a building adjacent to Hamilton House will be minimal, with only the antenna visible. The quad outlet sockets positioned inside each flat are the same size as a standard plug socket and will simply blend in. With the multi-switch unit being positioned at the back of the ground floor hallway, it is position with ease of access in mind, but also in a location not trafficked by people living in or visiting Hamilton House, and will not draw any attention to itself in this location.
7 Integrated Receiving System (IRS) This will consist of a Satellite Dish mounted on the outside of the property at roof level, with the main distribution unit housed in a lockable cabinet at the back of the ground floor hallway. There will then be 2 cables fed up through the building in to the front entrance hallway of each flat. Triax solid 80cm diameter with Technomate Quattro LNB, fixed to 12x2 alloy mast and galvanised 18 wall bracket. Bolted to the inside face of the north east chimney above flat 8. Televes Infinito High Gain UHF Antenna.

The proposed Satellite Dish sits easily within the valley of the roof and is not visible from the opposite building when viewed from a high level window. The ridge line of the roof of Hamilton House helps to obscure the view. Therefore in the proposed location the Satellite Dish will not cause any significant visual disruption to the adjacent properties.
