1 Ethernet Access (Formerly Converged Ethernet Access) Operations Manual 1. Service Description. Ethernet Access (formerly known as Converged Ethernet Access or Multi-Service Ethernet Access) provides dedicated high bandwidth to Private IP (PIP), vbns+, Public IP (Internet Dedicated - Ethernet (IDE)), Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) and Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL). It offers flexible and cost effective bandwidth options for customers wishing to access these services. Availability of services, speeds, and features may vary based on Customer s billing platform, Customer-designated location, distance to the serving wire center from the Customer-designated location and where facilities are available. Ethernet Access provides monitoring for Ethernet Access outages for all bandwidth speeds and Customer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ethernet Access is required for MCI Legacy Company Network Services ordered on or after July 1, Network Configuration. Ethernet Access types are available in the following configurations: 2.1 Type 1 Service (On-Net). The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company facilities or Company facilities designated as Type 1 ( MCI Legacy Company/Type 1 Facility ), and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company/Type 1 Facilities). Ethernet connections furnished by MCI Legacy Company/Type 1 Facilities use either a TDM facility class or an Ethernet Facilities class. 2.2 Type 2 and Type 4 Service (Off-Net Premium). The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-mci Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company Facilities. Non-MCI Legacy Company facilities use an Ethernet facility class and MCI Legacy Company facilities use either a TDM facility class or an Ethernet Facilities class. The connection provides a higher level of performance than Standard Service. 2.3 Type 3 Service (Off-Net Premium). The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-mci Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location may or may not be furnished via MCI Legacy Company facilities. Facilities furnished by both MCI Legacy Company and non-mci Legacy Company use Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) services as the facility method. 2.4 Standard Service (Off-Net Standard). The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-mci Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company Facilities. Non-MCI Legacy and MCI Legacy Company facilities use either a TDM facility class or an Ethernet Facilities class. Customer acknowledges that one Ethernet Facilities class, Ethernet Access Standard Ethernet over Hybrid Fiber Coax (EoHFC), currently has limitations if used with certain other Network Services features. The following Network Services features are not supported by Ethernet Access Standard EoHFC service: Private IP with Multi-VRF, Private IP with untagged frames, Dedicated Internet Services (Public IP) with untagged frames, Ethernet Virtual Private Line with transparency and Virtual Private LAN Service with transparency. 3.
