Welcome As the recently appointed Director of Youth Ministry, I am EXCITED to further u lize my me and gi s to glorify God through the edifying of the children, youth, and teens of St. John Missionary Bap st Church. The Youth Ministry is responsible for providing a comprehensive training program for our youth which includes discipleship, evangelism and worship, as well as giving them guidance in Chris an Living. It is my vision under the direc on of our Pastor, Dr. A. Edward Davis, Jr., to ensure that our children, youth, and teens are equipped with the necessary tools and skills needed to develop into mature men and woman of God. Christian Education: NURSERY The Nursery provides a safe and secure environment with competent childcare for infant and toddlers. Time: During 7:30AM & 11:00AM worship services Ages: 0-4 Location: Nursery (Main Level) Contact: Janice Johnson SUNDAY SCHOOL The Sunday School Ministry is designed to assist your child in their spiritual development. This ministry teaches children and adults priceless lessons on how to pray and apply the word of God to their every day lives. Time: Following 7:30AM worship service Ages: 3 - Adult Location: Upper Level Contact: Superintendent -Rev. Eva Sims, Assist. Superintendent - Lou Ella Ward JUNIOR CHURCH Junior Church is a shorter version of the main sanctuary service, where youth lead. Each service is followed by age appropriate activities to reinforce the message taught during the sermon. Time: During 7:30AM & 11AM worship service (Except on Church Annual Days & Holidays) Ages: 5-14 (K-8) Location: Lower Level 5 Teaching Ministries Christ Connection : YOUTH & TEEN NIGHT Youth and teens will engage in fun activities and discussions that will address who Christ is to the young believer and help develop bible skills. Each class will be broken down by age and identified by the following names. Activity nights for all groups will be held quarterly. Programs & Events Descriptions Black History, Resurrection Sunday, & Christmas Program These seasonal programs are yearly plays that give the youth an opportunity to sharpen their oratory and acting talents while ministering God s word. HOW CAN MY CHILD BE PART OF A SEASONAL PROGRAM? The seasonal program parts are primarily given out through the Sunday School teachers. Students should see his/her teacher for a part Youth Revival & Conference The Revival and Conference are services and workshops provided to the youth to give youth a renewed sense of Christianity along with skills to assist them as they continue to develop their relationship with Christ. Youth Emphasis Sunday The fourth Sunday of every month, during both Worship Services, our youth are in the spot light leading, singing and dancing for the Lord! HOW CAN MY CHILD REQUEST TO BE PART OF YOUTH EMPHASIS SUNDAY? Notify a Jr. Church worker, Sunday School Teacher, or Sis. Adrianne Wheeler of your interest. If your child participates in Cheerleading, Performing Arts, or the Choir s/he will have the opportunity to regularly be on program. 9 Scholarship Banquet This banquet is sponsored by the Scholarship Ministry each year to honor our graduates and honor students. HOW CAN MY CHILD RECEIVE A COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP? Near the end of the school year the Scholarship Ministry puts out applications for all graduates and honor students who are members of St. John. High School graduates must be a member for at least one year. Scholarship amounts vary year to year. Questions: scholarship@stjohnmbc.org Activity Night These nights are designated for group activities that will enforce student teachings and promote fellowship among the youth and youth workers. Sunday School General Assembly On the fifth Sunday of the month, the entire Sunday School will meet in the main sanctuary for a combined lesson. This is an opportunity for families to attend and learn through Sunday School together. Sunday School Promotion Sunday This is the Sunday where youth who have aged out of their current Sunday School class are promoted to the next class. Annual Youth Sunday On this Sunday each year our youth take over both worship services and are celebrated. Vacation Bible School Is a week long Bible Day Camp for youth 3-16 years of age. Tools for Back to School Drive School supply drive for St. John youth held mid July to mid August. 10

Additional ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS TO BE PART OF A YOUTH MINISTRY? Youth participating in a St. John ministry need to be an active member of Sunday School and/or Wednesday night Christ Connection. Active is attending one or the other ministry at least three weeks of the month. A. E.D. ANOINTED FOR CHRIST CHORALE The ministry trains and equips our youth to minister in expressions that glorify God through song of praise and worship. Rehearsals: 12:15 PM- 1:30PM 2 nd & 3 rd Sundays Ages: 7-18 Location: Upper Level Room 222 Cost: Costs associated with uniform Contact: Verleaner Lane YOUTH ATHLETICS: BASKETBALL Season: December to May Ages: 12-18 Who: Boys and Girls Contact: Trustee Bill Green JUNIOR USHERS Contact: Daniel Ferguson 11 Ministries PERFORMING ARTS Participants learn God's word, and learn different techniques of several types of dances ie. Warfare, Prophetic, Travail, Praise, Mime, Hip Hop, etc. They will also learn about priestly garments, Hebrew words of praise, banners & flags, and how to effectively minister through dance Who: Male and Females Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00PM on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays Ages: 3-23 Location: Lower Level Cost: Costs associated with uniform Contact: Demetria Horne CHEERLEADERS If you are interested in turning today's popular Hip-Hop songs into dynamic forms of praise and worship, then the Cheerleading Ministry is the place for you. We transform today's most popular songs into expressions that are pleasing to Christ all while having FUN, FUN, FUN!!! Youth in Media assist in developing multi-media worship services through the use of audio, video, graphic design, and lighting applications.
