Technical Support Information Case 4. BT 2Wire 2700 ADSL Router (BT Business Hub) configuration to allow a BT Versatility Broadband Module (BBM) IP Gateway connection for IP Trunks when the Broadband line provides Multiply no Nat Static IP addresses BTV Broadband Module (BBM) 2Wire IG 2700 ADSL Router ADSL line RJ45 connecting cable Customer PC s, Servers, and other LAN connections Introduction. The 2WIRE IG2700 ADSL routers must be configured to allow VoIP traffic to pass from it to the BTV BBM IP Gateway. In the default configuration the VoIP traffic does not pass successfully and VoIP service is severely restricted. Configuring the IG2700 for this purpose is not a part of the BBM installation and configuration. BT will not undertake to do this work unless instructed to do so by the customer and the work is then charged for in addition to the scheduled work. The information provided here is for guidance only. The IG2700 network security (Firewall) is the responsibility of the customer and no changes to this must be made without the customers permission. (This instruction assumes Internet access is available on the IG2700 LAN and restrictions in place are the IG2700 default restrictions.) Follow the separate instruction to configure the BBM (BTV VoIP using the IP gateway) and connect the BBM and the IG2700 as shown above. This document describes two possible ways the 2WIRE router can be programmed: - 1. Using the DMZplus mode (preferred method) 2. Alternative method when the DMZplus mode is not available. Issue 2 Page 1 of 21

Note: It is assumed the 2Wire router is the DHCP server. In situations where the 2Wire router is not the DHCP server this Case Study cannot be followed. In such situations we cannot advise a suitable connection method. IP Trunks - Configuring the 2WIRE IG2700 The IG2700 can be programmed from a PC connected on the LAN using a Browser application (e.g. Internet Explorer). See the IG2700 User guide for full information on connection and configuration. This instruction only covers information relevant to configuring the IG2700 to allow VoIP (IP Trunk or Extension) traffic through to the BTV BBM. On a Browser on a PC connected to the LAN on the IG2700 connect to the IG2700 programming interface. This can be done by either typing http://home/ or by typing the IP address of the IG2700 Default Gateway on the Browser address line and selecting Go. The following page will be displayed: 1. Using the DMZplus mode. Select the Firewall option (at the top of the page) and the following page will be displayed. Issue 2 Page 2 of 21

Select Allow Applications, Pinholes and DMZ Mode The following page is displayed. Issue 2 Page 3 of 21

This page shows all the devices connected on the LAN. Identify the connection to the BBM, this will have an IP address as the name. (It may be necessary to examine the BBM configuration Status page to find the IP address assigned to the IP Gateway in order to identify the device). Choose the BBM IP address, in the example screenshot above the BBM is using 192.168.1.64 Scroll down the page to display as below: - Issue 2 Page 4 of 21

Select Allow all applications (DMZplus mode) and select Save You may be required to enter the BT Business Hub password, enter the password. (For details of the password consult the BT Business Hub user guide on page 49). The following page is displayed. Issue 2 Page 5 of 21

The BBM should now be Restarted After the restart the BBM IP Gateway will pick up the same static IP address, default gateway etc. (provided the BBM IP Gateway is configured for dynamic addressing) as the 2WIRE router WAN. It is this IP address the V-IP featurephone should be programmed to register to. The 2WIRE router will also show the 2WIRE router WAN IP address against the BBM on the Local Network Summery page. Issue 2 Page 6 of 21

This completes the IP Trunk configuration. Issue 2 Page 7 of 21

2. Alternate Programming Method (Without Using DMZplus Mode) for IP Trunks On Sites With Multiple Static External IP Address On a Browser on a PC connected to the LAN on the IG2700 connect to the IG2700 programming interface. This can be done by either typing http://home/ or by typing the IP address of the IG2700 Default Gateway on the Browser address line and selecting Go. The following page will be displayed: There are three steps to configure the 2WIRE router for this method: - 1. Edit the Firewall settings. 2. Edit the Local Network Settings 3. Allocate the public IP address to the BBM Issue 2 Page 8 of 21

1. Edit the Firewall settings Select the Firewall icon option (at the top of the page) and the following page will be displayed. Select Allow Applications, Pinholes and DMZ Mode. The following page will be displayed. Issue 2 Page 9 of 21

Scroll down the page to Edit firewall settings for this computer. Select Add a new user-defined application Issue 2 Page 10 of 21

Create a profile name in the Application Profile Name: field, for example IP Trunks Now enter the required VoIP ports that require opening. For IP Trunks the following ports are used: UDP ports 5060 to 6000. In the Port (or Range): From 5060 to: 6000, select UDP, leave other fields at default and select Add to List The following page will be displayed Issue 2 Page 11 of 21

Select Back The following page will be displayed. Choose the IP address for the BBM, in this example 192.168.1.64 Select User-defined option, this should reset the screen and show the following page. Issue 2 Page 12 of 21

Select IP Trunks and use the Add button to add the User-defined filter to the Hosted Applications Select the Save option at the bottom of the page This automatically changes the Firewall settings for this computer from: - Maximum protection to Allow individual application(s). The following page will be displayed. Issue 2 Page 13 of 21

From the Home page viewing the device details for the BBM IP address will show the details as: The Port filters have now been allocated to the BBM connection through the IG2700. Issue 2 Page 14 of 21

2. Edit the Local Network Settings From the Home page select the Broadband icon The following page will be displayed. Select Link Configuration and scroll down the page to Public IP Addresses. Issue 2 Page 15 of 21

Enable the Add Additional Network Option The no NAT (public) IP address information supplied from BT Broadband may look like the following:- Network IP Address: 217.39.169.8 Start IP Address: 217.39.169.9 Last IP Address: 217.39.169.13 Router IP Address: 217.39.169.14 Subnet size: 8 (Total number of addresses) From this the User IP addresses are 217.39.169.9 to 217.39.169.13. The Default Gateway IP address is 217.39.169.14. Because the Subnet size is 8 the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.248 (if the Subnet size was 16 the Subnet Mask would be 255.255.255.240) These addresses are used as examples only and are not valid IP addresses. Input the router external IP address (this is normally the Default Gateway IP address) and the subnet mask as shown below. Issue 2 Page 16 of 21

Select Save and the following page will be displayed. Issue 2 Page 17 of 21

3. Allocate the Public IP address to the BBM There is more than one way to allocate the address, see the 2Wire user guide for full details, the following describes one of the methods. From the above page select LAN and on the next page select the NAT & Address Allocation option Select the BBM by IP address (in this example 192.168.1.64) Issue 2 Page 18 of 21

For Address Assignment, from the dropdown options select Public (Select WAN IP Mapping). Issue 2 Page 19 of 21

For WAN IP Mapping, from the dropdown options select the Public IP address you wish to allocate to the BBM WAN. Select Save. Restart the BBM and it will be dynamically configured with the public IP address details as assigned. The BBM Status Screen should now show the public IP address allocated On the 2 wire Home page the BBM will now show as: Issue 2 Page 20 of 21

This concludes the programming. Issue 2 Page 21 of 21
