ZOOM 70XL ILLUMINATION ZOOM 70XL COAXIAL ILLUMINATION Coaxial Illuminators project cool, white light perpendicularly onto the specimen. Coaxial illumination is most useful on highly reflective subjects, as it provides maximum intensity control. Optem VSI Fiber Optic Illuminators NEW for 2004, VSI Illuminators are available in 110V or 220V. These compact, lightweight lamphouses yield remote illumination via a 40 or 60 fiber optic cable. Halogen Illuminators An economical light source alternative to brighter fiber optic illumination for coaxial-equipped Zoom 70XL Lower Function Modules. Polarized Light Coaxial Modules with built-in Analyzers are available to introduce polarized light to your Zoom 70XL. Optem LF Coax Accessory Specifically designed to evenly illuminate a broader 50mm field, the LF (Large-Field) Coax Accessory is intended for use with a 0.5X or 0.25X Auxiliary Lens where the added working distance will accommodate the reduced space requirements. Apodization Filters For your machine vision and automated inspection applications, improve the algorithmic efficiency and accuracy of your Zoom 70XL with an Optem Apodization Filter. These Filters integrate directly into the illumination arm of coaxial lower function modules for Optem Zoom 70XL, Zoom 125C, and Zoom 160 Optical Systems. ZOOM 70XL OBLIQUE ILLUMINATION Oblique (or ring) Illumination is generally used on 3-D objects to cast light rays at an angle onto the object, thus better defining its dimension. Horizontal & Vertical Ring Lights Ideal for general purpose lighting applications, the fiber optic cable either exits the ring light horizontally at 90 off vertical, or vertically at 30 off vertical valuable space savings. A specific Objective Ring Light is required when incorporating oblique illumination with Infinity-Corrected Objectives. LabVIEW VI s For system integrators working from the LabVIEW platform, Optem Zooms now offer a VI library permitting seamless assimilation of our Stepper Motorized options. MOTORIZING YOUR ZOOM 70XL The Zoom 70XL Optical System can be specified with built-in motorized zoom, and/or focus functions. Choose from a variety of motorization and control options to best suit your specific application. Stepper Motor Models NEW for 2004, all Stepper Motor equipped Zoom 70XLs feature Hall-Effect Sensors. This engineering improvement ensures pinpoint mechanical accuracy and repetition for automated applications, and presents a smaller zoom barrel clearance diameter for improved space efficiency in OEM integrations. Zoom 70XL can be specified in motorized configurations that facilitate computerized control of the Zoom and Focus functions. Stepper Motors permit discrete movement (steps) in fine increments. Homing Sensors are standard on Zoom 70XL Stepper Motor models and provide a zero position for repeating locations. This permits pre-programming of setups for multiple work pieces. Stepper Motor Controller A Stepper Motor Controller is designed to operate the Stepper Motors. Manual operation is available through the use of individual rocker switches. Each axis has its own speed control. RS232 operation is implemented through a serial port and a Windows GUI. Software is provided for use with Windows 9X, 2000, XP or NT. OEM Stepper Motor Board The use of an OEM Board replaces the Stepper Motor Controller box. The OEM Board has all connections on-board and is available with a code library for modification of functions. Zoom 70XL OEM Controller Board connections are detailed in the diagram below. OEM Controller Board Connections 30-17-75-000 OEM Controller Board 30-17-32-000 (230V 50Hz) 30-17-36-000 (EURO) 30-17-33-000 (U.K.) 301730-802 (DB-25) 301730-803 (DB-9) 30-17-31-000 (110V 60Hz) 30-17-74-000 Junction Box To Computer Com Port ZOOM DC Motor Models DC Motors provide continuous movement throughout the zoom and/or focus range. Two ports in the back of the Motor Driver accept both zoom and focus motorized functions. MAGNIFICATION ACCESSORIES Auxiliary Lenses The Zoom 70XL offers a range of reducing and magnifying auxiliary lenses to provide you with further flexibility surrounding field-of-view or NA. To maintain maximum resolution, we recommend low power TV Tubes rather than reducing Auxiliary Lenses to increase field-of-view. A Right-Angle Adapter can be used to redirect your image by 90º below the zoom. There are two reducing Auxiliary Lenses that are exclusively used with the Right-Angle Adapter. Infinity-Corrected Objectives Achieve significantly higher magnifications and increased resolution by combining your Zoom 70XL with a variety of infinity-corrected objectives. Optem and Mitutoyo objectives can be threaded directly into one of four Objective Lower Function Modules. Other brand objectives can be integrated similarly, but require an RMS Adapter (see System Diagram, p. 6-7). With the AB Lens removed and equipped with an Infinity-Corrected Objective, your Zoom 70XL will effectively duplicate the performance of higher priced microscopes, with the added benefit of a continuous 7:1 zoom range.
