A huge variety of quality terrain, unbelievable runs with couloirs, big glaciers and breathtaking views ranging from the Ice Cap to the sea on the unique Arctic snow. Mountains in this area rise up to 1 700 meters above sea level, with a few peaks in the Eternity Fiord rising above 2 000 meters. The most beautiful mountains of the south west coast of Greenland, just below the Arctic Circle, where true adventure and discovery are the keywords. GUIDES SAFETY AND PLEASURE IS OUR TOP PRIORITY We began to explore this Arctic region in year 2000 and based on our experience we offer you the opportunity of a unique adventure along with outstanding professional services. Our lead guides are American and European certified mountain guides with extensive heliski experience from all over the world. From years of exploration they have unsurpassed knowledge of the Greenlandic terrain and specific snow conditions.
HELICOPTER, PILOT AND MAINTENANCE We have exclusive access to an Air Greenland Eurocopter Ecureuil B3 helicopter. Air Greenland has the highest level of maintenance standards within the aviation industry and will provide a backup helicopter in case of technical problems. Pilots are all professionals, generally Nordic, and trained for the specific Greenlandic conditions. They are furthermore required to pass the approved Air Greenland Heliski Pilot Training program.
Skiing conditions are very pleasant since Greenland enable skiing to and from sea level and the temperature are comparable with many European resort in March. UNEXPECTED AND VERY NICE SKI CONDITIONS The long days without night from mid-may offer unlimited skiing, generally in stable snow conditions due to the maritime climate.
7 DAYS OF ADVENTURE Here is the non-exhaustive list of what your days would look like: a week adventure of heliskiing, boat tours, whales, ski touring, prestigious flights, glaciers, fishing, barbecues in the refuge, a comfortable room in a hotel by the sea, storms, wind, quiet, silence, sun, long days, short nights A whole magical world.
1 2/7 8 DAY 1 1 After landing in Maniitsoq, the Heliskigreenland team will meet you at the airport and drive you to the hotel (5 minutes). Settling at Hotel Maniitsoq. Later, a briefing, an avalanche beacon search will be conducted, along with the required helicopter briefing. You may then have enough time for a first discovery of this magnificent and wild scenery before coming back to the hotel for supper. Night at the hotel. DAY 2 TO DAY 7 After breakfast, we will be take you to the harbor or airport to reach, by speed boat or helicopter, the first slope. The helicopter will drop you at altitude for you to ski off-piste guided by one moutain guide per group of 4. After some runs as you get hungry the group will stop for a scenic picnic in the mountains. In the afternoon you will continue discovering the Arctic area and hopefuly track more fresh snow as you move further into the endless virgin terrain. Most of the slopes offer you magnificient sea view and the opportunity of skiing all the way to the beach! Should the weather not allow for heliskiing we offer you other adventures such as ski touring, whale watching, kayaking, fishing At the end of the day as we move back we may have the chance of crossing the road of one or more whales. Back at the hotel, usually late in the day, you can explore the village or simply relax at the hotel. You can then enjoy a pleasant evening and a delicious dinner if you wish followed by the special Greenlandic Coffee. As the days are long we may, weather permitting, extend the experience further by late skiing in the rays of the evening sun. DAY 8 Early breakfast before your transfer to Maniitsoq airport. It s time to leave. You will fly back to Copenhagen, unless you choose to extend your trip to discover another exceptionnal site : Ilulissat.
Our hotel is located on the small Maniitsoq Island, in the South West Greenland. OUR BASE CAMP An island full of colourful houses, easily accessible by plane, equipped with a modern hospital as well as all the facilities of a small town of 3 000 inhabitants.
The 3 star hotel is situated in the center of this cosy westcoast town, at a hilltop overlooking the harbour with magnificience view of the surounding glaciers peaks. The hotel has 21 comfortable double rooms. All rooms are with sea view, private bathroom shower and WC, phone, satellite TV, wireless Internet connection and minibar. Dining at Hotel Maniitsoq is a pleasure you won t forget easily: The kitchen is one of the finest in Greenland. The meals are not only delicious but often with new ideas and tasteful surprises. The wine list features a careful selection of fine wines and liqueurs.
To go to Greenland, you need to transit through Copenhagen (Denmark). You will most probably have to spend a night in Copenhagen on your way to an from Greenland, as connections on the same day are not available. HOW TO GET THERE? You will fly Air Greenland to Greenland s international hub, Kangerlussuaq, and continue on a 40 minutes domestic flight to Maniitsoq. MANIITSOQ In most cases, you can enter in Greenland without visa. A passport or ID card of current validity is required to travel to Greenland (subject to changes).
