Descriptive Annex 1 NAME AND TYPE OF INSTRUMENT This instrument is designated the PTE-LW LiftWeigh Forklift Scale System and consists of an electronic indicator (D450 or EV22) connected to two a separate load cell units, which form part of the load receptor, to create a Class III, or IIII, selfindicating non-automatic weighing instrument. 2 DESCRIPTION 2.1 Construction 2.1.1 Indicators 2.1.1.1 D450 The indicator enclosure is manufactured from a stainless steel front cover and a separate stainless steel rear section. The LCD display and the operator function keys are located on the front of the enclosure. The base of the indicator cover houses the power and interface connectors. Main features: 2.1.1.2 EV22 Steel construction Operator s keypad Zero indicator Level indicator The indicator enclosure is manufactured from a composite plastic front and rear section. The LCD display and the operator function keys are located on the front of the enclosure. The rear cover houses the power and interface connectors. Main features: Composite plastic construction Operator s keypad Zero indicator Level indicator 2.1.2 Devices D450 and EV22 Initial zero setting device ( 20% of Max) Semi-automatic zero setting device ( 4% of Max) Zero tracking device ( 4% of Max) Zero indicator Net indicator Semi-automatic subtractive tare balancing device Gravity compensation Counting Stable weight symbol 2/9
2.1.3 Load Receptor (Digital Scale Carriage) The PTE-LW LiftWeigh Forklift Scale System load receptor consists of a weigh carriage, which is fitted with a load cell assembly of two load cells as, described in 2.1.4 below. This carriage fits onto the existing forklift truck carriage. The forks of the truck are placed onto the weigh carriage. The front and back plates of the weigh carriage are coupled together by the load cell assembly, thus eliminating flexures. The system is fitted with a digital inclinometer junction box containing the load-cell conditioning and digitising electronics, along with transverse and longitudinal angle sensing devices. These compensate for up to 1.4 longitudinal (forward or back) tilt and up to 1.4 transverse (left or right) tilt. When these angles are exceeded, the display will show an error code with the word LIV O across the top of the display. 2.1.4 Load cells The load cells used in the load cell assembly in the load receptor in 2.1.2 above is as follows: Manufacturer Type E max Zemic B3G 5000 kg 2.1.5 Digital Inclinometer Junction Box The junction box contains the load cell conditioning and digitising electronics, storage for calibration constants and audit trail functions. It contains two inclinometer units positioned at right angles to each other; one parallel to the longitudinal axis and the other parallel to the transverse axis of the forklift truck. The output from the junction box is transmitted to the attached D450, or EV22, indicator for processing and display. 2.1.6 Technical characteristics The technical data for the indicators is provided in the respective EC Test Certificates. 2.2 Operation 2.2.1 Switch-on At switch-on, a display test is performed to ensure that all segments are active. 2.2.2 Zero-tracking Zero tracking operates provided that the instrument is within range of not more than 4% of its capacity. 2.2.3 Semi-automatic zero setting The zero button operates provided that the instrument is within range of not more than 4% of its capacity. 2.2.4 Over-range and under-range If the load is less than gross zero, then the display shows a - sign before the value. 3/9
The instrument may be set to display weight up to nine divisions above Max. at greater loads the display shows 999999. 2.2.5 Tare Subtractive tare balancing can be performed. 2.2.6 Printing Printers can connect to the indicator via peripheral interfaces. The indicator may be programmed for printing combinations of Gross, Net, Tare (semi-automatic), Preset tare, date and time of printing and transaction number. Reports such as accumulated total weight and transaction summaries may be produced. Pressing the Print key will start a printing operation. Printing will only take place if the weight is stable. 2.2.7 Identification number An Installation Identification Number, Forklift Identification number and Scale Identification number may be stored in the D450, or EV22, instrument. These numbers may be used for the identification of printouts. 2.2.8 Date and time The date and time may be displayed on the main weighing screen. The user may turn this feature off if desired. The date and time of transactions may be shown on printouts. The date and time may be altered via the password protected user management menu. 2.2.9 Software The software version may be displayed by accessing the user management menu. The version numbers are as follows; 490xxx for the D450 090xxx for the EV22 Where xxx refers to the identification of non-legally relevant software, which may be modified by the manufacturer. 3 TECHNICAL DATA 3.1 Power supply The instruments operate directly on a 230 V AC supply or via a remote power supply (12 V DC), or directly on an integrated rechargeable battery. Any compatible CEmarked mains adaptor may be used. 4 PERIPHERAL DEVICES AND INTERFACES 4.1 Interfaces The instrument may have the following interface type: RS232 RS485 4/9
4.2 Peripheral devices The following peripheral devices may be connected to the interfaces provided: Peripheral devices that have been issued with a test certificate by a Notified Body responsible for type approval under Directive 2009/23/EC; or Peripheral devices without a test certificate under the following conditions: - it bears the CE marking for conformity to the EMC Directive; - it is not capable of transmitting any data or instruction into the weighing instrument, other than to release a printout, checking for correct data transmission or validation; - it prints weighing results and other data as received from the weighing instrument without any modification or further processing; - it complies with the applicable requirements of EN45501, i.e. 4.2, 4.4, 4.6 and 4.7. A printing device may print additional information such as date or number to identify the printed weighing result(s) or sets of weighing results. 4.3 Data storage device (DSD) A data storage device (DSD) issued with a test certificate by a Notified Body responsible for type approval under Directive 2009/23/EC any Member State and bears the CE marking of conformity to the relevant directives may be connected to the weighing system. The DSD must have sufficient capacity to meet national requirements and the needs of the user. 5 APPROVAL CONDITIONS This certificate is issued subject to the following conditions: 5.1 Legends and inscriptions 5.1.1 The remote display bears the following legends on or near the display: Max Min e = 5.1.2 The instrument shall bear the following legends: Accuracy class CE marking Green M Serial number Manufacturer s mark or name Certificate number T= (if T Max) The markings and inscriptions shall fulfil the requirements of Paragraph 1 of Annex IV of the Directive 2009/23/EC. 5/9
6 LOCATION OF SEALS AND VERIFICATION MARKS 6.1 The data plate is secured, either by sealing or by being of a form such that it is destroyed when removed. 6.2 Components that may not be dismantled or adjusted by the user must be secured by a wire and seal solution or by a suitable mark placed over the securing screws of the housing (Indicators: Figure 3). The securing mark may be either: a mark of the manufacturer and/or manufacturer s representative, or an official mark of a verification officer. 6.3 Verification marks, and the CE-marking, are located on, or adjacent to, the data plate situated at the back of the display. 7 ALTERNATIVES 7.1 Having the following two indicators D430 and EV7-S which can be connected to the PTE-LW LiftWeigh Forklift Scale System to form a Class III, or IIII, self-indicating Non-Automatic Weighing Instrument. The digital indicators are fully described in EC Test Certificate UCM 03/012-B. 8 ILLUSTRATIONS Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4 D450 indicator EV22 indicator Sealing method on the D450 and EV22 D430 and EV7-S indicators 9 CERTIFICATE HISTORY Issue.
