DUT GEA Degree Required: High School Diploma or the equivalent Admissions Decision: Admissions decision is based on the academic file and an interview. The DUT GEA is a 2-year program. There is the possibility of doing one year (the second year of the normal program), for students with two years of post-secondary education. This option is available in Human Resources or Finance and Accounting. New Pedagogical Option: At the end of the first year of the program (at full time), it s possible to follow a second year in alternation with a professional contract or a teaching contract. The technical degree in management and administration (DUT GEA) is preparation for several careers in business management and administration. In the second year, students can choose between three options: Finance and Accounting Option Master accounting, finance, and budget procedures and techniques. Human Resources Accomplish tasks and take on the specific responsibility with administration of personnel. Small and Medium Size Organizations Oversee the daily management of a private or public organization in its variety of domains (logistical and commercial, legal and fiscal, accounting and financial). This program provides that the elements of knowledge, know-how and confidence through a synthesis of teaching and working for a total of 1620 hours, of which ¾ are organized by guided work and practical work. LP CESI Commerce Must have obtained a diploma of Bac +2 DUT GMP, GIM; GEii, MP, (non-exhaustive list) or BTS ATI, MAI, CPI, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Electrics, (nonexhaustive list) or have completed two years of a diploma in science and technology. The aim of this technical sales program is to acquire a dual ability to build a professional career. The CESI Professional Degree suites students who have the scientific and technical pre-requisites at a level Bac +2 the skills necessary for marketing industrial goods and/or services. Programs in alternation The objective of a professional contract is to promote the professional placement or re-placement. It permits a salaried worker newly hire with a temporary or permanent contract to do a program in alternation, recognized by a professional qualification. Programs in alternation ALTERNATION PEDAGOGY The apprentice receives his qualification at the same time as theoretical training from IUT, but also by the practical training of the company. He is supervised and supported in a company by a master teacher whose mission is to contribute to the acquisition of the essential skills need for the receipt of the Technical Degree or the Professional Degree in the specific area in connection with IUT Valenciennes. PROGRAMS OFFERED Technical Degree: GEA, GEii, GIM, GMP, INFO, QLIO, TC Professional Degree : CPCMAO, DIPLAST, EICET, SURF APPRENTICESHIP REQUIREMENTS This technical degree as an apprenticeship is aimed at youths less than 26 years old who have a high school diploma. The professional degree as an apprenticeship is for youths less than 26 years old who have done two years of post-secondary education (Technical Degree or Associates Degree equivalent). ADMISSION DECISION Admission is based on an examination of application materials and an interview determining individual motivation. Admission is on two conditions: acceptance by the IUT admissions panel, obtaining an apprenticeship contract. Characteristics of the Apprenticeship Contract The apprenticeship contract is a particular type of work contract with a determined duration (CDD). Following article L6211-2 of the work code, apprenticeship is the object of a contract agreed upon by an apprentice and an employer. It is associated to training in one or more companies, based on the exercise of one or more professional activities in direct relation with the objective qualification of the contract and the teachings distributed during the time of work in a training center for apprentices. The contract is initially agreed upon for the duration of the program (2 years for a Technical Degree and 1 year for a Professional Degree). It starts with a two-month trial period. If the apprentice does not graduate, the contract can be prolonged for 1 year. Apprentice Work Requirements The apprentice has a salary separate from the company. With this position, the laws, regulations and collective conventions of the professional institution or of the company are the same as those of other salaried workers. The employer is to let the apprentice take classes during work hours. Aid for Employers Employers benefit from a variety of financial advantages: exemption from social fees, compensation and a tax credit. Note: apprentices, even if they are salaried by the company, are not counted as part of the company for the application of services referring to a minimum condition of employees. Apprentice Compensation When an apprentice agrees on a new contract with an employer, their compensation is at least equal to that of the last year of the preceding contract. International opportunities INTERNATIONAL DEGREES At the moment of the globalization of exchanges, international paths proposed by IUT are an asset for future graduate job placement: 2 university degrees and one professional degree are offered by IUT Valenciennes. Bachelor of Arts in International Trade (CAI), DEMI*, DICC** International course of study oriented towards commerce and management (tertiary) Students in the CAI program have a choice between two types of study abroad programs. Students can benefit from complementary services (personal guidance, distance courses) and enroll in the European International Management degree program or the International Diploma in Communication and Commerce in addition to the CAI degree program. The path chosen develops through one complete year abroad (classes and internship). The course load is calculated into European Credits ECTS, allowing for the academic recognition of courses given in partner universities. Agreements signed with certain institutions allows for the receipt of a foreign degree in addition to the DEMI/DICC and the CAI professional degree. Bachelor of Arts in English for International Business (language, communication and management) at University of Preston, UK Bachelor of Arts in International Business or Marketing at the Institute of Technology of Carlow in Ireland. Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at the University of San Angelo in the United States upon payment of summer courses onsite. Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at the University of Technology of Bialystock in Poland. Bachelor of Arts in International Business at the University of Trollhättan in Sweden. Courses for the CAI degree are given at the same time in French and English so as to allow foreign students to integrate into the program.
