HP3 Help Phone and Emergency System The Talking Phone Advanced System Introduction Following the development of the original INS LifeGuard model HP1 help-phone in 1997 and its HP2 successor in 1998, INS LifeGuard releases its latest third-generation HP3 design. The HP3 is designed and manufactured in Australia specifically for aged and/or frail persons, including those living within self-care communities. The help-phone provides assistance for those persons suffering sight, hearing, or memory loss and for those suffering minor or severe mobility restrictions. Emergency-Calls The Talking Phone In the event of a help request, the help-phone quickly identifies the situation and reports to the Monitoring Centre Operator. Meanwhile the help-phone is talking to the user providing reassurance. The helpphone allows high quality, two-way, hands-free speech via loudspeaker between the Monitoring Centre Operator and the User. Overcoming User Frailties In addition to its prime function of calling for help, the HP3 telephone and dialler offer the user many important additional benefits designed to offer security and improve quality of life. These include, but are not limited to the following: The help-phone can be pre-programmed to pre-select any desired telecommunications carrier (optional) Handset volume control for sound level enhancement Handset hearing aid induction loop Integral special loud-sounding ringer Large keypad buttons with button-5 feel location Large auto-dial picture buttons for easy dialling Voice announcements to both the user and to the responding Operator Normal modern feature-phone facilities Answering and hanging-up calls via wireless wrist or pendant transmitter Home Companion features such as event reminders, personal care reminders and appointment reminders Multi event Inactivity monitoring and reporting Home and Away Intrusion detection and reporting Pill reminder announcement and pill dispenser trigger Accommodates smoke detectors and other sensors Wide range of wireless accessories and call-points Specifications subject to change at discretion of INS LifeGuard. 6
HD4 Introducing the new INS LifeGuard HD4 Dialler Introduction This new all-purpose emergency-call dialler is based on the circuit and software designs of the third generation INS LifeGuard HP3. It therefore also draws on over 17 years experience in the supply of over 50,000 units of previous models and further exploits the use of the latest telecommunication components and technologies. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the INS LifeGuard HD4 Dialler is primarily intended for persons at risk, typically being aged or frail persons or those that may otherwise be at personal risk, equally within the private home, aged care residences, or within the workplace. Consequently it meets, and in many respects significantly exceeds, the Australian Standard AS4067 entitled Personal Response Systems. This attractive and flexible design concept makes the product suitable for desk or wall mounting; it is also intended to fit snugly under a normal telephone instrument if preferred. The HD4 Dialler is supplied with a single wireless pendant, however up to 48 wireless accessories may be programmed into each dialler allowing significant flexibility for various applications. The HD4 Dialler also includes comprehensive, but simple to operate, Home and Away security monitoring facilities, making it particularly suited for those living alone or within retirement village communities. The waterproof, wireless pendant has an iridescent glow in the dark button and a replaceable longlife battery. Each pendant continuously checks its battery and automatically reports a low battery condition to the user and/or to the monitoring centre as required. Personal Monitoring and Alarm System Security Key Holders Options A Security Key Holder is used to hold spare keys to your doors. INS LifeGuard strongly recommends the use of its Security Key Holders. The fixed model is usually mounted near the household electricity box, or near the front or rear doors. The portable model can be attached to a railing, pipe, or other fixture and can be easily removed and relocated. In the event of an emergency, we will alert emergency personnel, advising them of the Security Key Holders location and its code. Additional Emergency Transmitters Worn as a pendant or on the wrist, these can be added at any time. Smoke Detectors Every home should be protected by a Smoke Detector. On detecting smoke, the INS LifeGuard Smoke Detector will sound an audible alarm. It will then communicate with the INS LifeGuard Emergency Unit, which will transmit a signal to INS LifeGuard s Emergency Control Centre so that appropriate action can be initiated. Importantly, if the battery in the Smoke Detector runs low the Detector will signal the INS LifeGuard Emergency Unit, so that we can alert you of the problem. Fixed Wireless Call Points These devices are useful for use in common danger areas such as Bathrooms, En Suites, and Bedrooms or can be fixed perhaps to outdoor patios etc. They require no electrical wiring and can be installed in minutes. Infra Red Beams (PIR s) INS LifeGuard s Infra-Red Beams are also wireless. They can be used to detect movement, thereby providing a monitored household security system. 8
Special Needs Transmitter For those who may be unable to press a normal transmitter button, this is a tube that you can breathe into to send an alarm signal. Key Ring Transmitter For Home Security Alarm On/Off and Help. Inactivity (unit sponsored) A special feature of the INS LifeGuard unit is its ability to alarm itself if no activity has been detected within a pre-programmed time frame. If you choose this feature in the basic unit s configuration, and the alarm is sounded, you will need to press the cancel button within the programmed time frame if you do not wish INS LifeGuard to respond. Daily Telephone Check Call This service consists of INS LifeGuard s operators calling you each day at a pre-determined time to check on you. Mode 3 Wiring If you are using other telephones or telephone devices, such as an Answering Machine, Portable Telephone, Fax or Modem, it is strongly recommended that a special secure connection be wired, and INS LifeGuard can arrange this. This is called Mode 3 wiring, or a Mode 3 adaptor plug. These will ensure that the unit will always be able to seize the telephone line to send an emergency call, even if another device is off the hook, is being used, or is faulty. All adapter cords provided by INS LifeGuard have built-in Mode 3 wiring. There are many other useful options available. Please do not hesitate to call us with any special requirement you might have. 9
