Welcome From my first visit to Istanbul I fell in love with Turkey. Now I return as often as I can and in 2014 I spent my private holiday in Turkey. And let me tell you, it was one of the best trips I have ever done. Of course I have to admit that when comes to weather, crystal clear blue waters, food and historical sites not many places can compete with Turkey. Turkey has it all and the only difficult part is that you have to make decisions on which places to see and which not to see as there is to many places to choose from. This time I spent most of my time in the southern part of Turkey and even made a day trip to Kas, a wonderful Greek island of Kastelorizo. My friends from New Zealand who joined us for this trip had never done a private tour before. They were amazed how affordable it was, but also how convenient it was to travel in the private minivan, stop at any time, swim when we felt like swimming and eat at the local restaurant that only a Turkish guide would know, and for a fraction of the price that a tourist would normally pay. We hopped on and off our air conditioned minivan and between the stops I could catch up on office work and communicate with friends on social media using the free WiFi. Our guide was fantastic, he also escorts many of our regular tours and was in love with Australians and New Zealanders. We offer the following options: Regular Coach Tours (Page 30 to 51) Large selection of coach tours that operate on a regular basis and individuals can select and book any of the regular departures. These are a cost effective, comfortable way of exploring the whole or part of Turkey in an air conditioned bus with an English speaking Guide only. Some tours offer a selection of accommodation options. All Regular coach tours are guaranteed departures with minimum 2 people. Small Group Tours (Page 23 to 29) Following demands, we ve added more small group tours which run with a maximum 14 to 22 people and provide a more intimate experience. Small group tours are English speaking only and are guaranteed to operate with two passengers. Private Tours (Page 52 to 58) In this brochure, we have presented a few samples only, due to space limitation. Visiting Turkey as part of a private tour is more comprehensive and provides endless option as well as highest level of comfort. Private tours can be modified for any duration, standard of accommodation and can cater for individual clients as well as small or large groups who required a specific itinerary. Location, Location, Location Be aware that hotels that advertise a lot online may not offer better products or services than the hotels we offer. They just probably spend more money on online advertising! It is also important to remember that people who write comments online about hotels do not have the same needs or expectations as you may have and may come from different countries, hence may be looking for different experiences. Please note that some locations may attract business travellers, some nightlife seekers and some those who seek authentic experiences. Internet searches usually return hundreds of options in each location. The huge volume of hotels on offer can be quite daunting, and it becomes a challenge to find the right hotel for your needs and at the right price. Climate The Mediterranean and Aegean shores of Turkey experience long, hot summers and mild, rainy winters. Istanbul s average January temperature is 5 C and the average in July is 23 C. The central Anatolian Plateau has a continental climate with hot summers and colder winters than those along the shore. Shopping Turkey s bustling bazaars, markets, shops and stalls make this country an ideal shopping destination. Istanbul s Grand Bazaar hosts over 4000 stores where you need to be prepared to bargain, as this is an important part of your shopping trip and can give you that bargain you are looking for. Seven Churches of the Apocalypse: Mentioned by St. John in the Book of Revelations, these seven churches are all found in Turkey including Efes (), Izmir (Smyrna), Bergama (), Akhisar (Thyatira), Sart (Sardis), Alasehir (Philadelphia) and Eskihisar (Laodicea). Kusadasi: See the ancient site of, one of Ancient Rome s greatest cities in the Western world along with its famous Library of Celsus and the House of Virgin Mary. See the city where the Gospel of John is rumoured to have been written. It is also the location where the enormous temple of Artemis, once considered a Wonder of the Ancient World, stood. Pamukkale: The spectacular hot springs in Pamukkale, also known as the White Castle due to the lime deposits are a must visit. Many day trips can be taken to the East of Antalya including Perge, once inhabited by Hittites in approx. 1500BC providing an almost complete picture of the past. Aspendos is known for the best preserved theatre in antiquity, still used today. Coastal Cities: Discover the picturesque coastal towns of Fethiye, Marmaris and Bodrum. Once called Constantinople, Istanbul has for thousands of years been one of the most important urban centres on the planet and it is no surprise that it is now one of the "must visit cities" of the world. Visit Istanbul and experience it all for yourself. Istanbul Airports There are 2 airports in Istanbul: The Ataturk International Airport is 18 kilometres from the town. Transfer takes 30-40 minutes by car to Old Town and 15-20 minutes to New Town. Both domestic and international terminals are located at Ataturk airport and are within walking distance of each other. The Saw Airport services mostly the low cost airlines. Saw Airport is located 50 kilometres from town and transfers take approximately 70-80 minutes to Old Town and 60-70 minutes to New Town. Istanbul port is located in Karakoy area approximately five kilometres from Old town. Transfers take 15-20 minutes by car to Old Town and 10-15 minutes to New Town. Istanbul Hotels Please note that the hotels that come first on search engines are not necessarily the best located and most suitable for you. They are usually just the ones who spend the most on advertising. Hotel searches return between 800 to 1400 hotels in Istanbul, which can often be quite daunting. Halina's Hints There are more than 200 markets set up in Istanbul every week. This is an old tradition that comes from the Ottoman times. Markets in Turkey offer almost anything (not only fruits and vegetables). On a Sunday morning go to seaside suburb of Ortakoy and stroll through the open air markets held in the streets around the Ortakoy mosque on the Bosphorus. Artists sell their work to passers by and some of the best street food in the city can be found here. It is not only about buying goods it is about food, wandering around and people watching. For those that would like to explore the city at night, the Beyoglu area known for its arts and entertainment is Istanbul's nightlife hub. Located on the European side it boasts a growing number of cool venues. Check out hip café Leyla, for cocktails or cappuccinos, and around the cobbled corner try to catch live Balkan music at Badehane bar. During the day drop in to Istanbul Modern gallery located near Karaköy Port, which frequently hosts the exhibitions of renowned Turkish and foreign artists or to the Pera Museum with works from the late Ottoman period.
