Message from the The research culture in the School of Business continues to develop with faculty members producing seven (7) journal articles in peer-reviewed journals and another thirty (34) papers delivered at academic conferences or invited venues both locally and globally over the past year. These papers are evidence of continued efforts to build research competencies in applied areas such as, sport, tourism and innovation while making diverse contributions to management theory. Further, this rate of production and dissemination exceeds the rate the previous year where the School produced three (3) referred journal articles and eighteen (18) conference papers. We can expect the research enterprise to continue growing in the coming years. The increased quantity of production is complimented with evidence of high quality in terms of research accolades and external funding. In the past year, faculty researchers received one (1) research achievement award from the University and three (3) best paper awards at conferences. A Postdoctoral Fellowship position worth $100,000 for work in the area of innovation was also awarded to a team including two School faculty members. Nipissing University prides itself on the undergraduate experience and this report demonstrates that the strengthening research culture is contributing to their experience. Among the papers presented at conferences, four (4) papers were developed with the co-authored contributions of seven (7) current and former students. The opportunity to be involved in faculty led research resulting in publications for students is an exemplar experience where Nipissing leads over larger institutions in the Province.
